  1. My buck was defiantly locking down his doe, dads buck was cruising looking for a date. They should be leaving these does anytime though
  2. It says that for liability reasons I bet.
  3. Very nice! I got a doe tag left but still have pa doe and buck!
  4. Was kinda hoping dad didn’t show up to my house to hunt this am cause it was cold and I’m tired. Glad he did, we head out at 5:30 and are in stands by 6:10. At 7:30 he shoots a small 4 point, I climbed down and do my business in the bushes, climb back up and see a deer across the field 200 yards away. I bino him and think it’s the 7pt I have on camera and decide to pass. This deer stands in the same spot looking the same direction for 45 minutes, later find out he had a doe. He feeds out into the clearing and I notice he’s not the 7 but a broken up 8 and he is HUGE body wise. I put the scope on 4 power and shoot him with the 6.5 Grendel at 200 yards, does a backflip and flops down into the woods. Went and help dad clean his deer (he’s only 150 yards up the hill) we then go over to my hit sight and find him 20 yards in woods. The Grendel outperformed my expectations out of a 16” barrel, in shoulder broke opposite leg in half and got caught by the hide. In 12 years of hunting this is the first time ever my dad and I were able to shoot deer in the same sit. This is pretty much the reason I took him. I didn’t weight him but he is all of 190-200lbs dressed.
  5. Dad and I both shot bucks this morning, mine was tending a doe, was an 8 but broke both g3 off. His a small 4. 200 yard shot with the 6.5 Grendel smoked him. Backflip.
  6. Had a 6 pt at 25, then he went by dads stand and he passed. 2 smaller doe came out at 200. Want a closer shot with the Grendel than that for the first time.neighbors sounded like a damn war zone, 6 shots.
  7. Couldn’t find my coffee thermos.
  8. Saw a few doe, nice 8 dogging a doe right down the middle of the road on the way out.
  9. What a crazy sit, in pa we have a resident grouse who follows us everywhere, he decided to sit in my treestand with me all day and peck at me. 8 am nice buck comes through not sure if I want to shoot him or not, (7pt no brows about 100”) I grunt him into 12 yards and the damn grouse flys up on my head and shoulder and starts flapping around. Buck spooks off and I laugh my ass off and the fighting this grouse for 2 more hours. He does not leave and jumps on my head as im Climbing down the treestand, then followed me to my buddies stand who happened to shoot a doe while pissing out of his elevated blind. Literally balls out shot a doe with a crossbow. What a day.
  10. 3/8th stuffer tube came in, guess I’m making deer cheese sticks later.
  11. Spike recovered, he coulda told me the dang thing died 40 yards from his stand. My kids got to help track!
  12. with this moon and snow you could shoot all night. I’ve got One deer milling around at 60. Looks small
  13. Debating on weather to go out tommorow or not. Friday hunting in pa.
  14. We shoot 750 for practice at camp. Shoot deer out to 400. Aim small miss small. My furthest shot is 180 and next furthest is like 75.
  15. I move my stands every few years, even just 25-30 yards. Does it make a difference idk. I’ve had deer snort and come back 20 minutes later, they blow they go.
  16. Oh yeah, they’re useless in creeks too. We have about a mile drag outa one spot that took forever with two guys. 200lb 8pt thought we both were gonna fall over dead.
  17. Get a jet sled and dragging is a pice of cake. We used to do that till I got the sled.
  18. Any doe is getting smoked, buck gotta be 2.5 or better.
  19. I woke up, and a snow band was making its way through 7s and still is. Went back to sleep. We’ve got a few inches now.
  20. Bring something to eat, warms you up. Hot beverage. Bibs not pants. I like my alpaca socks with thin socks underneath. Won’t sit still in real cold temps and will move spot to spot for a few hours each.
