    Big Bear

Well I guess we'll find the truth soon enough. It has to be reported to the DEC and Im sure we'll hear about it from them. Im surprised the local media has not picked up on this story yet,Assuming it's a real bear.
  2. Well this weekend was a bust for me,Saw nothing on Sat. until I walked back to my truck at sunset and there were 3 does standing next to it,I think they were checking my inspection sticker,They saw me and bolted. Sunday, nothing. Still hunted all day .Found several rubs and scraps at least. Will try again Wed, Should be a lot colder.
  3. Hopefully I will find his brother this year.
  4. 5 Million people have lost their health care coverage, one million in California alone. The country is 17 trillion $$ in debt and climbing by the hour,Which means every American owes $123,000 to the govt as their share of the debt. This guy might get 2 more supreme court justices in there before he leaves. Social security is drying up because the Dems refuse to privatize it. I'm voting for Putin,He's a gun owner and actually has a spine.
  5. Heading up late friday night.Cheers? thats on 17B?
  6. Update for 3H: Sat sunny 54 deg, Sun Cloudy 54 deg with a 40% chance of showers. A little warm but could be worse.
  7. Bears only go into hibernation when the snows are deep or food becomes scarce. If it's a warm dry winter, it's not unusual for them to stay out the whole winter.
  8. When compared to the mid and late 90'S, Its not as active as back then. I have a hunting club bordering me on one side and even their activity is decreased.
  9. There have been years when opening day by me sounds like the first scene in Saving Private Ryan, complete with artillery, But in the last few it has been some what subdued. I'm surrounded by all private land,I guess less people are hunting or the cut back in does permits in 3H is the answer.
  10. I'D pass on this deer,Too much of a hassle to drag out...........That was sarcasm.
  11. Sat. sunny 53, Sun: 30% chance of showers 53 deg.
  12. I've owned 2 gsp, I love the breed, but if you have never owned one the are a high strung breed. They need lots of exercise daily! The one I have now is 13 and just starting to slow down plus they shed hair like crazy. As I got mine 13 years ago I couldn't recommend a good breeder but post the pics when u get one.
  13. You can get some good meat off that Lab.
  14. Long range forecast for opening day, sunny 51 deg.
  15. I prefer a Claymore anti personal mine,It gets the point across.
  16. No blood on the broad head and the deer looks healthy like it has no problem eating..Im claiming shenanigans,I don't believe the picture is real.
  17. Finally had a good sit on sunday. Had 3 does walk in after sunrise but were very skittish due to the strong winds,It seemed danger lurked behind every swaying tree. A small buck walk in and when he crossed the trail I walked in on he stopped,Sniffed the trail and quickly trotted off.I suspect he caught wind of my boot prints on the leaves. 3 minutes later a nice 8 walks down that same trail and hangs up,I grunt and bleat for several minutes,His tail starts to wag like an excited dog and then he charges in to within 12 yards,But at a bad angle to my right. No shot was offered and he quickly walked off looking for the guy who kept annoying him. Oh so close.
  18. I had that happen as I was about to shoot a bear once, he froze up for a minute trying to figure out what that faint noise was. After I quietly mouthed a few expletives saying how I was going to kill the wife if that's her calling,he moved to an opening and I got him. Turns out it was a wrong number!
  19. The poor guy is going to drag that around until he sheds this winter.
  20. Even the farm raised deer in 3H don't get that big.
  21. That's why I like to ask, math has never been my strong point
