As I live within ear shot of CSH,All waterfowl hunting there is done via floating duck blind.There was an issue several years ago with conflicting laws between the Town of Huntington and NYS.The town says there is no discharging of firearms within the town,Yet NYS DEC said it was legal to waterfowl hunt in the harbor as long as you obeyed the laws pertaining to distances from houses. I know of several hunters who were met at the dock and issued summons for violating "Town" law.The summons were fought and I believe it was resolved.

Hey Aaron,Im from Huntington also and I just picked up a new bow myself.My 25 year old Hoyt is officially retired. I went to Island wide archery in Hicksville and picked up a Parker Eagle. Solid Bow,Good reviews on line and he's got a decent Bow package I.E. Bow,set up,Arrows and broadheads for about $850. PM me if I can be of any help, but hurry Oct 1st is coming fast.

I hear you,The craft beer industry is exploding in this country.My favorite brewery is located here on L.I. called Greenport harbor. There are several good brewery's in upstate NY,one good one is Ommegang.

I was out there in August,Plenty of deer sign every where,However your right,Not many trees suitable for a stand.Its very thick with heavy underbrush,But the deer are there.

Probably a coy dog,Coyote mated with a local mutt.

Spray yourself down with tick repellant,I can't stress this enough. The ticks in eastern suffolk are out of control.

I've done it at the ridge check station,check in your doe and they issue you an either sex tag to replace the 1c doe tag,not a bad deal

Do you mean being issued another doe tag after you fill out the one you have?

I had the same thing happen about 6 years ago,I couldnt believe some one was trespassing so deep on my 100 acre land.Well I found the camera the following year about 60 yards from the tree it was on and it was chewed up like a puppy's toy.A bear found it,got playful and ripped it off the tree.I was actually relieved to find out it was not stolen.

Once again a theory that is expensive and will end in failure like it always has in the past."deer stay within a quarter mile from we're they are now"....really.?!. I guess during the fall rut deer don't travel miles to seek their own core areas or receptive mates.i guess the deer in other areas will not wander in to that town.

And they have another month and a half of growing to do,That first buck is going to be a stud in october.

It's not a Dirty Harry movie or a video game where you can just shoot the gun out of his hand,He's required by NYS law to requalify twice a year and that doesnt include any practice he does on his own time.The average gun fight last less than 3 seconds.He walks into a situation,Has to access it very quickly and make the decision to fire his weapon.The Governor of the state has all the time in the world to decide if someone gets a stay of execution or the death penalty,This cop had 3 seconds to make that decision,and God help him if he makes the wrong choice.The number of shots fired is irrelevant,You fire until the threat is over.This guy was on parole,He knew if he gets caught he's going back to jail plus time added for this crime,He wasnt going down peaceably.It's a tragedy all around,But NYS is to blame.

If she was rescued he's a hero but because it turned out the way it did it's his fault."Back out","More training"?.All the training in the world doesnt prevent the Air Force from dropping a bomb on friendly troops below,Which happened numerous times in Iraq.Its so easy to monday morning quarterback when you werent there.Who's at fault? The NYS Parole board for once again letting a violent criminal out early.This officer has to live with this for the rest of his life,Thats punishment enough.

From what I read,Their cutting way back on the number of permits this year.Their blaming "Global warming" on the cause.Warmer temps cause more ticks and throws the animals internal clocks off.In some area's they say the moose populations have dropped considerably.

I have a vermont castings gas grill,highly recomend.I have had it 7 years and have not had to replace any part yet,Grant it it is starting to show some age,But after 7 years of heavy use who wouldnt look a little worn.I believe in spending the money on certain things and getting quality.

As I did not grow up in a big hunting family, The man who I have respected the most is President Theodore Roosevelt. My wife is the curator of Sagamore Hill NHS in Cove Neck,Long Island. I have had the pleasure of holding T.R's rifles,wearing white gloves of course.The man was a life member of the NRA,Wrote several books on big game hunting and was instrumental in preserving millions of acres of land as National forests and parks.He helped explore a tributary of the amazon,A trip which almost killed him and the river later named after him, The Rio Roosevelt. He was a giant in the field of conservation and hunting/gun rights.A man we could use on our side today.

News reports this morning say the boat was shot full of holes,But locals are taking donations to replace the boat for the guy.

Scripted or not,I agree with Apoallo,The History channel will be attacked from the Humane Society and every other anti-hunting and anti-gun group out there.They will eventually cave in and take the show off the air.Its a short lived show,mark my words.
