  1. There are a ton of pics out there. I have a few friends that hunt up north and use trail cams. They get multiple pictures each year of cows calfs and bull moose.
  2. Look up the Simmons broadhead and the woodsmen elites. The woodsmen actually come with a guarantee that is you chip them during regular use they will replace them. Both are super outstanding broadheads and I use both. One is a 3 blade and one is a 2 blade and they have good cutting dia.
  3. I would think you would have to have some major power to push these through a deer. Specially if you have a marginal hit. I would take one and practice at angles to to see if the will catch and cut or deflect when shot. Just something to think about.
  4. tommyc50 I found that i used to grip the bow with my bow hand to tight and torque it when I released after my first round I started to relax and shooting got better. After I figured this out and practiced not doing it my shooting improved. When I shoot it is almost a meditative state of being relaxed and concentrated on the target. What is your complete setup? Example= I am shooting a Striker Fastback 50# @ 29". Goldtip 5575 32" 100grn brass insert with a 165grn simmons shark. My total combined weight it around 650 grns and I would like heavier. My draw is only 29.5 inches and I leave the arrows to length so I get the spine weaker and still have the full weight of the arrow. A couple of places to check out for help is the "trad gang" and the "Leather Wall" these are both forums dedicated to strictly traditional shooting and hunting. Also check this book out it is also super helpful and should be in your collection along with byron's book. http://www.amazon.com/books/dp/0964709627 Food for thought also is there is a big trad shoot coming up in the utica area called oxtar. There will be a ton of people there and you would be able to talk trad gear with anybody we are all just a big family. if you have any questions let me know.
  5. Dogs do well on three legs. I see a dog all the time with three legs and he walks 2-3 miles with its owner ever morning and is always super happy. Animals have a super drive to live
  6. I feel the cost of carbons kill them for use. To get the weight needed you are buying inserts and weight tubes you are over a hundred dollars buy the time you fletch them and put points on them to shoot them. Big thing to remember with traditional bows is the weight is good and keeps the bows in tact. Aluminum's are 40 dollars a dozen 50-60 when all said and done that is more like it and a dozen lasts me 6 months shooting 2-3 time a week.
  7. Steep canyon rangers, Steve Martin,Punch Brothers,Bill Monroe. J.D Crowe, Doc Watson, etc etc. The list could go on forever there is nothing like the sound of a banjo picking at a high rate of speed.
  8. Some of the smartest people didn't even graduate high school. Some people learn "hands on" and some learn "by the book who cares". If you go around saying people are dumb or an idiot because of the way they talk or spell you are the one who is missing out!
  9. It is a trend they let it stay the same price for awhile then jack it up 40 cents to bring it down 25 or 30 cents and we all say glad it came back down but it never COMES BACK DOWN always 5-15 cents more expensive than before. This happens every year.
  10. You should think about aluminum's too if you have are having trouble with arrows. They are much cheaper to start out with and easier to spine to your bow. They come in many more spines and you can start their with out putting a ton of money into a set of arrows. Once you get an idea of what you are shooting tip weight etc you can switch it up. I have been hunting with trad gear for years now and i am just starting with a set of carbons. To reach my weight i had to put 100 grn brass inserts with a 160 -175 grn broad head and I am still almost 100 grains short of my alum. I am waiting for a new bow to arrive to test the carbons out. Should be interesting.
  11. Culvercreek here is what I could come up with Here's the scoop on George & Progressive http://www.infowars.com/soros-promotes-un-control-over-gun-ownership/ http://www.ask.com/answers/71003601/does-george-soros-own-progressive-insurance-company http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Does_George_Soros_control_own_or_run_Progressive_Insurance_Company Be sure to read this one: http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/peterlewis.asp
  12. I will see if I can't find you some links. I have heard this from several different sources that are following the gun laws.
  13. Progresive was one of the so called big backers and I guess the owner of progressive is a huge obama backer and anti gun advocate. Our insurance money is backing this guy. We seem to be paying for our own anti gun laws. Crazy when you think about it.
  14. The money lost just is the community has to be a huge deal to them. I heard this show brings in millions in revenue. I hope all the people that would have benefited from it are lashing out at reed and the venue for being so stupid.

There ate always nice deer taken in 4j. Happens every year.
  16. You can find good quality bows on some of the traditional forums under classifieds. One good one is Trad Gang lots of bows and new ones every day. Some are pricey though. Thing to think about is the time and effort that goes into traditional hunting. I shoot all year long to keep my muscle memory. You won't be able to pick up your bow 2 weeks before hand and be good at shooting it. These bows just aren't like the compounds lots of time and dedication. That being said traditional archery is very addictive and very fun. That first deer is such an accomplishment. Then you get into arrow building and string making it can be a lifelong hobby. These are my first arrows I made a few weeks ago and now I am making an arrow crestor. lol endeavor Good luck on your endevor and feel free to ask as many questions we are all here to help.
  17. Think of all the guys who shoot competitively with these guns or have family airloomes that now have to be gotten rid of. There is something majorly wrong with that.
  18. It shouldn't matter people bought these guns LEGALLY and they should be legal even if you made modification. These guys are slowly taking all our rights from us. If you put a scope on the gun you modified it?? These are the crazy things that they will go after next if we don't stop it now.
  19. The way I read some of this we are leaving all of our mental states and guns to any higher up. They can basically say you are crazy and take his guns. This is a step in the wrong direction. The real criminal is Cuomo and how he did this behind our backs. Sad day for us.

This place was beat up this year. Yikes there were way more people than usual
  21. Last deer stand unless I get out after work for a half hour hopefully the deer cooperate
  22. Won't uphold in court though. I have talked to officers and they have said so. This is a grey area. It should be in the reg book. Like the bow only areas etc.
