Fisher your father remembered gun safety Know your target and beyond. He said it looked like a squirrel but was sure and didn't shoot. Which is what you are suppose to do!! Period. The guy who shot the other squirrel hunter didn't do this. You always hear them shooters say I THOUGHT it was ........ When you are going to pull the trigger you don't think you know your target you know your target period.

It doesn't look like you have the fisheye effect. Did you take it out and how?

I would expect Jeager is talking about the true D shape long bows? Not the recurve or the r/d longbow. Probably the old howerd hill style bows. I shoot instinctual r/d longbow but don't have a traditional longbow.

This was a hunt down in South Carolina totally freerange hunting. I stalked this pig to about ten yards. Had a pass through the pig went 10 yards and fell over. There are so many more to post specially with a 7 month old. Pics are only going to get better.

This book is a good read even for those who don't shoot traditional archery. It gives you alot of basics on bows and how they work.

Also agree with Doc, If you called dec they most likley would have come out and put it down and let you have the meat. I have called before after a deer got hit and asked if I could take the deer. I have had game wardens give me there name and take mine with address so I could get it home and butcher it with no tag. Then give me one later etc. DEC doesn't like to see the animals go to waste either.

Gold tip trad.5575 100grn brass insert with a 165grn simmons treeshaark. Puts my arrows right at 630grns.

I think you would have to have a high poundage bow and a nice broadside shot to get these to work well. It will be interesting t hear how they work for ya keep us all posted.

I use chartreuse and blue. The chartreuse almost glows in the dark and blue isn't natural in the woods. I am surprised at how well the blue stand out.

My thought on baiting deer and I am coming into this conversation late is that anybody can shoot a deer over bait. You put a huge pile of apples out it changes the deers routine. I know a lot of camps up north before the season will start throw a bag of apples out to see what is around!! These guys don't move there cameras that have been there all year. The only change is the apple and boom they start seeing bucks and big bucks. So my thought is baiting is for the guys who just want to shoot a deer and brag not the guys who want to get out and enjoy the woods. JMO

Must have Muzzlerloader Tag to use crossbow
biggamefish replied to HectorBuckBuster's topic in CrossBow Hunting
Just to stir the pot. If you need a muzzleloader tag it is a gun not a bow!!!! LOL -
Something you don't want to happen before the season!!!!!!!!!
biggamefish replied to biggamefish's topic in Bow Hunting
Wooly to your suprise I have a cross bow but it was my fathers from when he was younger. It is super safe!!!!! LOL I don't have a problem with them but I don't think you will ever see me hunting or buying one. Vince1 yes dry firing can cause this to happen. In this case I think it was just an old bow and it looked like they used to for bow fishing. It you get moisture in a bow like this, it is only time before she gives up. Every year I hunt traditional I seem to get more into it. It is really relaxing for me and just plan fun and that is what hunting to me should be. I am going to my old stand by A Martin Vision 50 @ 28". She is a proven bow with many successful hunts under her belt. -
Something you don't want to happen before the season!!!!!!!!!
biggamefish replied to biggamefish's topic in Bow Hunting
That was the funny thing about it. I had just started my practice for the night and my groups were great at 25 yards. I was like this is my hunting bow for sure then snap. I picked the bow up at an auction 2 years ago and shot it occasionally. This year I decided to give it a whirl for hunting. At least it didn't happen when I was pulling it back on a deer!! -
Remember to keep it reasonable also. On a scouting trip you can hike somewhat quickly. When hunting you don't just want to go tromping into the woods. plus you will have more gear with you. So remember it will take longer when you are hunting.

These animals might be able to stay under the radar for a short period of time but there is no way with all the trail cameras and people who are actually looking to prove the DEC wrong there wouldn't be pics!!! Could be possible but I want proof before I believe it. Just look on the forums with people from out west they have all kinds of mountain lion pics.
