I have a Winchester 94 24" barrel. I have a scope on it (weaver classic). I used to be able to hold 2" groups at 100 yards with it, using Rem core lokt 170 hp. For some reason the gun has started to drift when shooting. This first shot cold is always 5-6" high even after redialing it in. After the first shot it walks 2-3 inches down in a straight line. Left to right is minimal. After about 2 times doing this in repetition (letting it cool down) it will hold a group. Then I let it cool down and the whole processes starts over again with a high shot. Yesterday I tried screwing the dials on my scope all the way in and out to reset the screws but that didn't help. I can't figure out what is going on and before I totally remove the scope I wanted to see if you guys had any ideas of what could be going on or suggestions to try to figure it out.

Doc I know a light arrow is far more likely to be pushed around by wind and have more of a deflection if it hits a leaf or small twig. I would think form would also show up in a lighter arrow to some degree.

I am looking for shooting stick recommendation. I am not going to be using this it is a present for someone else. I think he will be using it for deer, coyote and generally all around hunting- shooting. Something that is easy and quick to set up and probably has more than a single leg.

Does he make endless loop strings or Flemish Strings?

Insufficient scope adjustment..Suggestions ?
biggamefish replied to Pygmy's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
take the scope off and remount it. I would totally take the rings off to. Then try again. -
Agreed I more so just suggested a book as a reference point. Neither book is better or worse. Each of these books stated have same and different views. Anybody that starts out in anything needs to have a good reference point to start from and figure out there own way to get to the point were they are comfortable. There are so many variables tab, fingers, 3 under, 4 finger split finger etc. basically just giving ideas .

As wildcat said work on your form first and the accuracy will come. People tend to pick up bad habits when they go right for accuracy. Here is a link for a book that will answer your questions as you go. http://www.3riversarchery.com/product.asp?i=7015&gclid=CJSjq9X32cICFQ9gMgodi2UAUw After you get your bow and supplies always feel free to ask questions here but as stated before tradgang is all traditional and the people are good and super knowledable.

Had a good week, Deer are starting to really move in my area! This guy came in dogging a doe that I missed an hour before. Clean miss which is thankful. I put this in the boiler room at 20 yards took out the lungs and cut the main artery running to/from the heart. .

I have seen s huge pattern change with the oaks and acorns. You have to find the deer and get close. Which is hard with the pressure issue. The deer Dont have to move far to eat then lay down if there are oaks buy the bedding area. Just a thought.
-
I see the exact opposite. Just sit longer. I do see more movement in the morning though.

I make my own and i mount my roto zip to the bench and square it off then just roll the arrows into it and rotate works great and i didn't have to buy a special tool.

I don't use any of the washes etc. I wash my clothes with borax and baking soda. I then throw them into the dryer with no fabric sheet then hang them out to blow in the wind under and eve where they can't get wet etc. I do spray them down when I initially hang them out but I don't use any spray or anything when hunting. I do wash my clothes every week. This works I had deer directly behind my this weekend and the wind was blowing right to them swirling all around never got busted.

Ahhh pulled my hat down over my ears. Now it doesn't sound as windy!
