  1. sparring already here in rensselaer county
  2. got 2 little guys sparring in front of my cam this morning
  3. I'm still getting young bucks with velvet, is that normal for this time?
  4. didn't get one antler on cam last year. so far this year I got a bunch of spikes, 4 and small 6 pointers but these are the first decent buck pics I've ever gotten on camera. pretty sure the second 2 pics are the same buck. the first one might be him too but it's tough to tell from the pic, gets quite a bit of glare right around sunrise and sunset. not a bad little 10 pointer for my area!!! he's a trophy in my book
  5. These guys gotta score around 120" right? ... ok maybe just 20"!!!
  6. bigger than any buck I ever shot. that's a trophy and a half where I come from. then again the capital region isn't exactly known for trophy deer. your one lucky guy if you even have to consider passing on that buck. can I come hunt where you hunt???
  7. I live in downtown troy and before I bought a tripod for hanging deer I used to skin and quarter them in the bathtub. it would look like a murder scene but you gotta do what you gotta do. I have pics but they are pretty brutal
  8. I got to watch my girlfriend shoot her first deer last year(nice 135lb dressed doe) with her bow!!! she doesn't mind gutting, skinning, and butchering deer or turkeys, even when I used to do it in her bathtub!!! and she LOVES venison. guess I caught a keeper!!!
  9. that's the most realistic looking 3d target I've ever seen!!!
  10. went to go check my trail cam and come to find a small 6 point, a good sized doe, about 6 adult hens and maybe 10 poults all hanging out together in front of my stand grazing and scratching. got to watch them for maybe 5 - 10 minutes before the turkeys spotted me and in turn the deer too. looks like that stand is gonna be quantity over quality but should make for some exciting bow hunting. REALLY stoked for October 1 now!!!
  11. I think they see 1 or 2 on top and then scratch the whole area. just a guess though
  12. bought a 30-06 for me and a 243 for her now that we can use rifles in Albany county
  13. So true. been busted by more turkeys than I can count.
  14. PSE fire flight 70#, was using a Mossberg 500 12ga but now I can use my savage 30-06 in Albany county. stoked about that!!! the Mossberg will still be used for spring turkeys though
  15. Yea your right! could probably shoot just about anywhere in Lansingburgh and no one would notice. I live downtown where it's at least a little better
  16. thanks I will, one of my hunting spots is only about a half mile from there
  17. if someone could please help me out and let me use there land for an hour or so to sight in 2 rifles and 2 slug guns I would be forever in your debt! I live in Troy so the closer to the Capital Region the better but at this point I wouldn't mind driving a few hours to make sure my guns are on point. I've asked several rod and gun clubs (even tried joining a few) but you can't get in unless you know someone. And I would be MORE than willing to compensate anyone who would help me out financially or any other way I could be of use.
  18. put a bunch of deer in the trunk of my old 97 Malibu, had to fold down the back seats to get the 8 pointer to fit but it worked. got a Dakota now so should be easier or they should fit in my girlfriends santa fe no problem
  19. it was a lot easier when you could just get the super sportsman and it included everything. I don't have a muzzleloader but should I buy it anyway to get an extra tag for bow season??? I'm confused
  20. 4b and 4c, I'm legal to shoot 2 birds
  21. if a turkey walks by while deer hunting do you shoot it?? I've only done it once and miss judged the distance and shot right over top of a jake. seeing a bunch of birds on my trailcam and wont hesitate to bring one or two home with me this fall, assuming they don't bust me!
  22. 3 ladder and 1 hang-on stand on about 60 acres of property 1. property 2 is small (less than 7 acres) so just 1 2-man ladder stand on that one. see a lot more deer on the 7 acre property though
  23. I'm trying mechanicals for the first time this year too, I got wasp jackhammers
  24. blurry pics but they look like high-def bucks!!!
