  1. if you let me come down there and hunt, then I could tell you if you made a good deal or not!!! lol
  2. how about trap them and send them to the capital region?? over population sounds like a dream!!
  3. bigger is not always better, just ask my girlfriend... um second thought... stay away from my girlfriend! lol
  4. Interesting man, thanks for the info. definitely gonna try it out Sent from my SM-G386T using Tapatalk
  5. why did you dig a hole and put that tree in? could you just rough up a tree that's actually growing out of the ground? was there already a rub on the tree you put in? I gotta try this next season!!! thanks for sharing man!!!
  6. honestly one of my favorite pieces of meat on a deer. I also do the shoulder blades like that in the crockpot. shanks too. I love bone-in venison roasts
  7. my girlfriends cousin found a beautiful 10 point skull in the woods about 4 years ago. nothing else, just the skull with the antlers, never found the rest of the carcass. It was almost totally clean, just a few specks of flesh here and there. I found a really small fawn shoulder blade a couple weeks ago too
  8. Been a slow gun season for me, but I swear I just heard 2 bucks fighting. Is it too late into the season for that? I couldn't see anything cause it was coming from some really thick brush but it certainly did sound like some antlers rattling. Doubt it was another hunter because of where it came from. Anyone else ever see or hear bucks fighting this late in the year? Sent from my SM-G386T using Tapatalk
  9. my girlfriend shot a 135lb dressed doe 2 years ago and it looked a lot bigger than that. I got one this year that was 110 (see pic) and she looks about the same as yours
  10. I do a lot of bone in roasts. neck, shanks and even the front shoulder blade. makes butchering a lot easier and they all come out great in the crockpot. don't let anyone tell you that the shanks and front quarter are only good for burger. if they are slow cooked, they are literally the most flavorful cut on the whole deer. all the tendons and connective tissue turns to gelatin and add so much flavor. crockpot can be your best friend
  11. not all of Albany county is bow only, just 4J. I hunt in 4B and they just opened rifle last year and it was shotgun before that. there are some decent bucks around here but no where near some of the monsters I see pics of from other parts of the state. from what I've seen the capital region seems to be on the bottom of the list for New York trophy whitetails. hopefully i'll prove myself wrong by the end of the season!!!
  12. going out with my father in-law in the morning, he usually gets a buck right around thanksgiving every year except for last year. hopefully we both get lucky but I would be plenty satisfied just to help him drag one out. we will probably sit on the edge of a pretty big field on the same side but about 150yrds away from each other. only gonna stay still 10am cause I gotta help the wife with dinner. hopefully all the trespassers will stay the f--- home
  13. why wouldn't you shoot a doe opening day???
  14. can't tell you what the best is cause I've only used hornady sst's. but they have always shot good out of my Mossberg 500
  15. Awesome man, it's so rewarding when hard work pays off. Congrats! Sent from my SM-G386T using Tapatalk
  16. who says you can't eat antlers???
  17. Saturday morning I saw 2 bucks chasing a doe. she crossed the creek and they stopped at the edge and locked horns for just a couple seconds then walked off together
  18. 110lbs dressed, my new stand down in a creek bottom has been great so far. seen deer every time I've been in it which is not what I'm used to. even saw too bucks sparring which is new for me too!!! gonna be even better once more leaves fall off and I can see in the field that's across the creek. really tough access to it though so getting in and out is a real pain but it's paying off. tried one of those disposable game glides to drag her out. definitely worked as advertised, wasn't exactly easy but was a lot easier!!! dragged her up a real steep hill and over logs by myself. feels good to have some venison in the freezer, no I can relax a little more and enjoy my treestand time even more
  19. Bacon Burger Whiskey Shots by the BBQ Pit Boys https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mJDYGgkIdc I tried some of these with ground venison and venison chili inside... amazing!!! Pretty much everything from these guys make looks incredible!!!
