Thoughts on First Lite Gear

https://iwomouterwear.com/ I got one of these for me and the wife and they're awesome. It's like the heater body suit but better. I keep it rolled up and strap it to my pack until I actually get in the stand. It's like a sleeping bag with a jacket on top. I sweat like a donkey no matter what on the way to my stands so this works great for me. They also sell one's that have been returned because people ordered the wrong size at a discount. I definitely recommend. I think they run about $450 for new ones Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk -
Absolute pig! That's almost double my pb Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

I'm with you. Bass are really underrated as far as table fare. I find that bleeding them makes a huge difference, I bleed all fish that I eat. I use a knife with a gut hook and just cut the gills while they're still alive. Makes the filets pure white. I usually fry bass but grilled is good too. Brown trout was always my favorite to fish for as a kid but now salmon and steelhead have taken over. Never caught a walleye in my life, might need to change that this year! I do deer ribs as long as their not shot up too bad. Just cut off any big chunks of fat first. Any of the connective tissue and silver skin will break down just fine on the smoker. I do them similar to pork ribs. 2 or 3 hours at 225, then wrap in foil for another 2 or 3 hours(maybe longer on a big old buck or doe). However long it takes for them to get tender. You can raise the temp when wrapped to speed up the process. Then sauce and back on unwrapped for half hour to an hour. We love em! Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

Saw more deer this morning than all of bow season. All but 1 on the neighbors property. And of course the 1 that was on our side looked like a nice buck but I only saw him for a second and he went right towards the neighbors. Oh well, maybe he'll come back. Great morning to be in the woods! Congrats to all those successful already! Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk -

Savage axis 30-06 with a Leopold vx freedom 3-9x50mm scope and Hornaday 180 gr bullets. Bought a couple boxes for my moose hunt 2 years ago so I might as well use them. Wife will be using her .243 Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk -

Sat dark to dark yesterday and and saw nothing. 1 year ago today I got my best buck yet. Would be nice to make it an annual tradition. Fingers crossed Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk -
Been my slowest year to date. To be fair I haven't been to the property I hunt in Brunswick very much and that usually has a lot more deer. I've been hunting behind my in-laws house in selkirk because we usually see bigger bucks there. My standards have dropped quite a bit from the lack of deer sightings down there. I think EHD could be a factor considering I found a dead 8 point in front of one of my stands the first or second week of October just rotting away. Or maybe I just suck at hunting. Maybe both Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

Plan on sitting dark to dark today. Hopefully it will be dark to drag! Good luck ladies and gents! Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk -
Not of fan of pickled anything myself. I've made deer heart tacos, cheesesteaks, and stir fry but honestly my favorite is just slicing it at the seam and rolling it out flat and throwing it on the grill like a steak. Top with onions and garlic, maybe some mushrooms or peppers, and it's one of my favorite pieces of meat on the animal Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

Hmmm... that's interesting. I've been doing taxidermy for 2 years but I've yet to do any open mouth mounts. From the videos I've watched and the research I've done it seems like open mouth is actually a lot more work. I know most taxidermist charge extra for it. Wondering why they say it's easier. You remember what episode it was? I'll definitely take a listen Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
