  6. My best buck and her first buck Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  7. I did an experiment a year or two ago. I made little mini meatloafs both were 80/20 venison to pork but one was pork fat cut from a pork butt and the other was bacon. The bacon was better hands down. Gonna do another experiment this season. I bought a fatty brisket over the summer and cut some of the extra fat off and froze it to see if I like that even better than bacon. We shall see Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

  15. I never cut up a bear but I've done a lot of deer and I'd help you with it. Don't think it's too much different. I'm in Troy Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  16. My father in law's gobbler on his homemade pedestal. We decorated it together. Really happy how it turned out! Most importantly, so his he!!! Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  17. I didn't have any problems doing it online. But I ordered it a month ago and still haven't received it in the mail which I assume is the post office fault. I called dec and they're sending me another one. We'll see Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

  19. Thanks for the kind words man. Yea, we've been looking at houses all summer but this market is still pretty crazy. Really getting sick of city life but we also don't want to rush into just any house we can afford. It's gotta be right and we just haven't found it yet. Gotta have a decent garage or barn to turn into a taxidermy shop. Plus we're not working with a huge budget and everything we look at is going $20000 to $50000 over asking. Hopefully it will settle down this winter and we find something worthwhile Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  20. This will be my 3rd season doing taxidermy and I'd love to mount some critters for any of you in and around the capital region (I live in downtown Troy). I say this every year but I'm still not at the professional level yet so I won't be charging professional level prices. I'll be charging $250 for a deer shoulder mount this year. I've done a few turkeys, coyote, fish, european mounts and my pride and joy... my maine bull moose! I also started mounting deer hides on a piece of wood shaped like the state of NY which I think came out really cool. Did some moose for Maine too. I'd be more than willing to try some other game animals as long as you don't expect perfection for my first one. For the time being I'm only going to be doing reproduction fish, not actual skin mounts. Let me know if you're interested or if you have any questions. And good luck this season!!! 21. As you may or may not know, this will be my 3rd year doing taxidermy and this is my first full mount bird. This is my own personal gobbler I got this past season and I'm pretty happy with it. And I learned A LOT! Also did my father in law's turkey which came out pretty good too. We're going to mount it on a pedestal that he made himself which should come out awesome. From what I've read, turkey's are one of the hardest birds to mount so doing a duck or goose should be a little easier. Can't wait to try one. Let me know what you guys think Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  22. Same here! One of my favorite parts of hunting too! Always did my own from day one. Started with trial and error then started watching YouTube videos and that helped a lot. I've probably watched every deer butchering videos and most cow and pig videos too. Take little tips and tricks from each one. Just started cutting flat irons from the front shoulders and they're fantastic! Pretty small on a deer obviously but it's the second most tender cut besides the tenderloin. The only time I was gonna have an animal butchered was my maine moose but the butcher didn't have it ready by the time I was leaving so I packed it up in coolers and did it myself. Blessing in disguise because I love cutting them up myself. Now that I do taxidermy I get to cut them up and put them back together! Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  23. Just curious, why take them all down every year? Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  24. These were from early July 2020. Showed up 5 minutes apart. Never saw either one before or after these pics on any of the other 4 cams on the property Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
