Unofficially....Live from the woods 2021 turkey hunting thread.

Heard a couple gobbles across the creek on the neighbors property. Chances of me calling one in and making him fly across this creek are slim. During deer season there was a tree that fell across it and I saw a gobbler walk across it but it must have gotten washed down stream. Thought that was gonna be my golden ticket but it's gone. Still just nice to be out! Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk -
I used the kitchen aid grinder for years and it always worked fine but 2 years ago my old man bought me one from the sausage maker and it's a vast improvement. Much faster Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

Got him! Sat on the edge of a field with a Jake and hen deke until about 830. Didn't see or hear squat. Decided to go for a walk. Walked along the top of the ridge along the creek while trying to get one to gobble with a few clucks here and there. Saw some movement at the bottom towards the creek. Turned out to be 2 gobblers and a hen. Hen is moving at a steady pace to my left while the toms are holding back a little and strutting. I crawl back away from the ridge out of their sight and get a head of them a few yards. I'm laying prone on the ridge and they slowly walk in to range going in and out of strut. I think the other bird was bigger but this one was about 12 yards closer and had a beard so he ate the pellets. Guessing a 2 year old, 9 inch beard, 7/8 spurs. Boring hunt turned into a fun hunt real fast! Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk- 633 replies

Went out for just a few hours before work. Saw a coyote and buck. Had a hen come right up to the dekes too. Hoping for her boyfriend to show up but no dice Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk -

Father in law got one! Now I got my first strutting turkey to mount. Heard a few gobbles but haven't seen a bird yet. This wind blows! Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk -
So sorry man. Know all too well what you're going through. Dogs have never been pets in my house, they're family. Wish there was something I could say to make you feel better but I know there isn't. So sorry Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

Well like I said in my original post, thought I went a little overboard with the habitat. So I took just a little bit off and I think it looks better Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

It's actually still drying, there's plastic bags inside the nostrils until it's fully dried and I do some finish work Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

I've been using only Mckenzie forms so far. Definitely willing to try others though. My teacher uses mostly Tasco forms. Mckenzie is definitely expensive, shipping especially. Heard good things about Ohio taxidermy supply Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

I bought one of the wall habitat kits from Mckenzie plus a bunch of extra habitat supplies then mixed and matched them between mine and my wife's buck. Plus I had some leftover materials from my coyote from last year that I threw on Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

My 9 point crossbow buck. I might have gone a little overboard with the habitat decor but once I started I couldn't stop! First wall pedestal mount I ever mounted. I got a long way to go but I'm getting there Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
