  1. Oh, you're not fleshing your own hides either. You could be cutting your cost almost in half. A fleshing knife will do everything from the neck down. You can turn and flesh the face with a scalpel or razor but it's a little tricky at first. I don't have a dakota yet only because I don't actually have a shop yet. Mini flesher works pretty good too Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  2. Definitely worth considering going full time, your deer are top notch! You definitely have a lot more experience than me (this will be my 3rd year doing taxidermy) but I have a small piece of advice. Look into tanning your own hides. It's not difficult and it will save you a few dollars on each mount. Best of all in my opinion, you can take more control of your schedule. No more waiting for weeks for your capes to get shipped back from the tannery. Worth looking into at least Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  3. Big platform and flip up seat are a must. I probably spend as much time standing in my stands as I do sitting and that extra room is essential. I like to keep the shooting rail pretty low so it's less in the way of your bottom cam during archery. For gun season I bring a little v shaped gun rest that sits on the rail. I also hang some kind of skirting from the rail to at conceal some leg movement. Definitely extra ratchet straps and check them often. I also prefer the metal seats with the cushions but they seem to be all switching to mesh which are ok but no as good in my opinion. I definitely feel a lot safer in ladder stands than a hang on. Like others said, it's probably a false sense of security but it works Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  4. I'll only wish you luck if you promise to share these hunts in the hunting success stories section! Pretty sure you will so good luck! Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  5. 2 wmu's I hunt changed their probabilities this year. First time I ever got one for 4c but I always got at least one for 4b. I've always seen WAY more does in 4c, at least at the property I hunt Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  6. I had to put all the hunting licenses and permits in the cart first, then click the menu bar at the top left and click apply for permits (not sure if that was the exact wording or not) Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  7. Cabela is trying like hell to get a chuck in our little downtown backyard but my back door is too noisy and they hear it and get a head start Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  8. I simmer mine for hours and pick them as clean as I can. A little dawn in the water helps degrease it a bit. If I had a pressure washer I'd only simmer a little while then blast it. You need a higher psi gas one for that though. Like you, I prefer the more natural look over bleach white. Had to borrow a huge pot to do my moose! And it still wasn't big enough, had to flip it over and do it again! Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  9. Yup! Upstate Charters out of Mexico NY Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  10. 23.5 pounds on 400 copper line. Felt like a half hour but was probably 10 minutes or so. My arms were throbbing after that one! Going back on Wednesday. Stoked! Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  11. Mid September 23.5lb king salmon reproduction I caught from lake Ontario last year. This is the 5th fish I've painted and I think each one is better than the last. The lighting in my living room sucks. Looks way better outside. Pretty happy with it though Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  12. Sweet bucks and bear! Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  13. Definitely a shooter in my book! Good luck with him! Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  14. I inherited the same rifle from my dad. Didn't know it was worth that much. Wonder if I could trade it in for a new bow Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  15. My doe last season had a chunk of her ear missing like that. I'm assuming whatever it was happened a year or 2 earlier because it was completely healed Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  16. Never had any luck with a grunt tube but the only buck I ever rattled in was early season. Oct 6th to be exact Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  17. First deer with my PSE that I still use First buck with my mossberg 500 12ga First turkey and squirrel with my mossberg 500 20ga First coyote with my savage axis 30-06 First Moose with my guides browning 30-06 because the cheap scope on my savage fogged up on day one of the hunt. Got a nice leupold on there now Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  18. Hit Saratoga lake for a few hours. Perch, Bluegills, Pumpkinseeds, and Bullheads made one hell of a good fish fry dinner! Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  19. I work for a moving company but he wanted to take all of his mounts himself in his own trailer. I believe that was his second trip Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  20. A customer of mine has a lease in KY. Not sure where in the state but he's definitely been quite successful. This was his second trip Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  21. Have a great birthday friend! Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  22. This is the most gobbling I've heard this year. It's 7:30 and they're still letting it rip at least every 10 minutes. Definitely more than one bird but they are still on the neighbors side. Keeping it interesting at least Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  23. Our 2 year old coon hound, lab, shepherd mix Cabela Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  24. Gobbling on the roost right where I thought they would be... across the creek on the neighbors side Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
  25. I got this pack last year and love it! Got a long accordion cord with a magnet on my net that I hook right onto one of the loops on my waders. I can wade and fish with the pack on, if I'm gonna be in the same spot for a while I just leave it on shore. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074P3D55Z?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
