  1. If you were properly social distancing, he should have rode in back. Tacoma bed is 6 foot, no? Hope the kid is ok.
  2. For shooting deer that didnt measure up? That he was kicked out for it? Or that he cut wires?
  3. Maybe he got it from someone Saturday afternoon.
  4. Midway wont ship loaded ammo anywhere in NY. But they will ship components being discussed here.
  5. Go to midway, there's 30 different 308 bullets in stock for an 06. Including some 165gr ttsx. Ain't cheap plinking load, but they are right up there at the top for hunting and a perfect match for that cartridge. Plenty hornady and Nosler choices there too. Put email in for stuff that's ok to backorder, I got everything from there to roll rounds for next trip. It took a spell, like a couple of months, but it all came.
  6. I mostly went to fish, hunt, and watch car races, but have done the others as well. On whole have no complaints, but find other parts of Canada better for the people, ymmv. You an ex pat I'd guess?
  7. You must think every where but from Quebec. They do their own brand of rude there. LOL. But at 150k units must be black rifles, I dont know anything about that market. I know Colt has big place in Ct I have driven by, didnt think they'd need to import. I see Ralf Martini isn't listed on that one link, and frankly that makes that list suspect in my eyes. Could be one of the top ten rifle makers in the world, but not in volume that's for sure.
  8. What's made in Canada? The rest are easy, czech is CZ, turkey are piles of lower priced shotguns , Austria is glock, Brazil are lots of semi auto pistols of various brands, Finland is tikka and sako, etc
  9. Need a negative test on sept 28 to go on a hunting trip and another in mid October to come home. Getting home I dont really care about, you got to go first. I think I should wait til July and see if new variants start to be covered.
  10. Good luck with the new digs. I dont know what I'd do if I had to move. I seem to have an inordinate amount of "stuff".
  11. The one thing not too many consumers think of is that it's like farming. Sap is a crop. And some years the weather sucks, and the season can be short. I run short in the Hudson valley in general being not too far out of the river zone.Earliest tapped was Jan 5 one year and was done by early feb. We have had banner years too. Tapped Jan 17 and still boiling in end of march. Took almost 3500 gal. off my 275 taps. Buddy ran additional 1700 taps that year and we did boils from friday morning to monday morning around the clock to keep up. Borrowed 55 gallon stainless food drums for finished syrup, could not get enough bottles. All done, he paid for a daughters college tuition for the year and I went on a hunting safari for a month with the proceeds. Good times. Now I just make some for myself and have fun. Enjoy reading threads like this with all sorts of efforts ,big and small , being put forth.
  12. It's worth just a couple bucks to buy a square of filter felt and some pre filters you can get many reuses out of, and ditch the coffee stuff. Like 20 bucks buys a couple years worth of supplies. Dump it in as hot as it comes right out of the pot. Just sayin
  13. The notification systems work great, even if it takes a while. Everything I needed to load some rounds came this week; bullets, powder, magnum rifle primers. Look outside the box on bullets. The solids I'm loading are standard for what I'm doing, but the are made overseas and they have been making regular shipments. Took 2 weeks off a notification list.
  14. Sorry to hate about someone messing with your lines mowin. Some years ago I came home to a guy filling jugs out of a main tank that unfortunately sits down by the main state highway I live on due to pitch. So I didnt pull in and drove past around the blind corner, parked at a neighbor and ran back over the ATV trail that runs to my shop. Snuck up on him and scared the shit out of him.
  15. Had snow here May 9th last year. And was still burning wood. Too early get all excited yet.
  16. Still a few here, figured that owner got sick of the same issues that plague every forum and threw in the towel. One day it was just gone. 2008? After that dissapeared, dont remember how I came to find this place.
  17. Qpq nitride is pretty amazing stuff. Thing is now many "nitride" finishes manufacturers are listing aren't that process and just an abbreviated version [read: cheaper] Have roughly a dozen qpq nitride barrels and 2 receivers of my favorite brand rifle. It makes it easy to clean and is ridiculous hard/durable. One gun has seen some serious crappy weather, blown talc type dust, moisture and even coastal salt and it looks new wiped with a oily cloth. But insides of barrels see some high temps and pressures, and like to run a patch through a bore sooner then later. Not betting on anything to save a bore from freckling. Ymmv.
  18. Tungsten is good stuff, that'll work. Love 28's and have a couple.
  19. Shot a couple birds with a single shot 28 using some 5's. Keep it typical turkey distances and just as dead. They were fall birds and just targets of opportunity, but was still fun. Adjustable rifle style sights on that barrel ment for slugs.
  20. Just commenting, you dont need a cantilever rib clamp on with a holographic type site. Same one is used at arms length on a handgun. With no parallax it can sit out over the barrel and still function. I run one on rifles using just the front mount base and "scout" style on a quarter rib. Truglo one is kinda high, but Aimtech makes one that clamps over a rib and is really thin over the rib. Not sure how many models they fit, and that might be a limiting factor for them.
  21. I've mod'ed on a couple forums, thankless job. So I get where your at and thanks for making this place as reasonable as you could. You should still post, if they think they got a better handle on it, let em have at it.
  22. Should be able to find a NSSF statement on this. I know a staffer fairly connected and I consider that group as one of the good guys. They schmooze and lobby as that's how you have to play the game, but I doubt you'll see many scandals coming from them.
  23. I agree, there is at least a partial data base. I have mentioned it here before when travelling with firearms they (customs) have specifically known about previous travels and details of serial numbers not only of what I was getting paperwork for, but other firearms that I owned. I've never taken it too task, I just want to go on my trip, but it was eye opening. They do look for a stolen gun report but how exactly does this tie into another database? It had to for the officer to rattle off the what and where's of those rifles. There's no mistaking asking about a Blaser, i own several, there was only a couple thousand in the US at the initial use/paperwork , but this was 8 years later. She knew of the new rifle and serial number, but it had only gone through ffl, never customs. I dont for a minute think anything ffl is destroyed, it's all floating around out there.
  24. Including yourself as legendary. In what? Post count?
  25. "Sorry cheech and chong." Who else thinks that reference is the dumbest, yet funniest thing you've read on here in months?
