  1. I thinks it's great idea too. The useless still spend the money and they make my earning power go up. Stoner at work complains he hasn't received a raise in 5 years. I asked for more money after 4 months, and I think I could have pushed for more. I'll take it right out of his wallet.
  2. Never a bad choice to hunt baboons anyway you can.
  3. Red. Too big and wrong terrain for Roe.
  4. Like the bridge scene in Monty Pythons Holy Grail. Answer 3 questions to cross the bridge, or be cast into the flaming gorge of hell. Same guy came up with Beverly Hillbillies(and the theme song) Petticoat Junction, and Green Acres. Genius.
  5. In the overused high peaks of the ADK's its disgusting to walk off trail. One area where there was a lean to by Indian falls going up marcy should be classed as a waste site.
  6. Young members wont get that reference, having to climb the pole was great. I thought Mr Haney made the show. Favorite of mine watching channel 29 from grand island. On topic, took a bunch of attempts, SIL got dad in at CVS finally.
  7. It doesnt. Under that logic, elk (or any other cervid) are the same. But that's clearly not the case, as even in this thread to those who have hunted multiple species.
  8. Age, finances, health all play a factor. I was sidelined for 2019 with health issues, never a thought for me before then. Lost interest in hunting with that deal for a spell. But the biggest is time. I'm back on it for a trip this fall where a second hunter could spend just the cost of airfare over your 3k to one of the premier hunting concessions anywhere; but its going to be 15 or 16 days away and no cell phones for 11. That's out of comfort zone for most to be away from home. And it's going to be stupid hot & long days well into the night afield, where I thrive and most wilt. Hard to get anyone to sign up for that. The Pa trip is great, close enough to scout, cheap, and lots of fun. Do it while you can and make some memories.
  9. I ran fishing trips into Canada for about the same time, not always the same group, but 4 people most years. They all got married so I started traveling and doing hunting trips solo. It was fun having a good group get together. Hard to get anyone interested in hunting trips I'm doing.
  10. Canaan,NY, the one north of the Berkshire spur of the thruway in 2 hrs from NYC? Dang, you drive faster then me on the Taconic. With this Corvid, prices are crazy high within 3 hrs from NY. I'm working one job that's a goat path to get to the house and requires 4wd in the dry. Folks are sinking $1 mil in the place.
  11. Kevin the owner of Seek outside is avid back country hunter, given me some great advice even when it wasn't his brand. Wouldnt hesitate to buy anything they sell.
  12. Ordered a better quality air rifle in 22 cal beginning of winter for a expected Feb 1 delivery. Now they are talking June. Its nuts.
  13. Meanwhile I'm still on different job sites weekly and very few wear masks, mostly delivery guys as company policy. Yet to meet anyone who has had any syptoms or missed work. I'm still cranking 50-60 hr weeks on multiple projects a week with all kinds of trades working. Even the clients who mostly come from NYC typically dont care anymore. After a year or more of building and virus delays in supplies, they just want to move in and want it done. It's usually the call back clients where I'll put one on, depends on client. Only guy I know who always seems to be exposed just wants to stay home as hes a lazy POS. The vid has been a godsend to him as he has an excuse to slack off and ditch work.
  14. Same here, use a regular lense that I need for distance. I happen to like a tint too for hunting, either rose or yellow, helps with contrast. Significantly helped shooting clays, but found I like them in field conditions too. I dont need correction for up close, my bifocals have clear glass in them for my job doing fine work because the distance lense blurs at reading distance. Progressives haven't worked at all for me, I reused the frames for a work pair, and wont try them again. Ironic my prescription keeps going down as I age, I tell my doc if I get old enough I wont need any.
  15. Set up looks good, filter press is huge, wish I could justify one. Plenty of season ahead of you to spend time boiling.
  16. I was gonna tell you to tag along on a hunt with me this fall, but I'm thinking you're going to be in a stand looking for this guy.
  17. Building trades has plenty of guys with a record. Some decent who made a wrong turn, some who should not have been let out. Seen it all in over 30 years at it. Biggest skill is manage to show up on time, and stay off your cell phone. Both of those are unbelievably difficult for most. And then they complain about wages and not getting a raise, but that's a different topic.
  18. I think it's funny to those thinking muzzle down would hurt a crown. You should see what 99% of barrels look like with a real bore scope. You'd be mortified.
  19. I know a few members here dont like the guy who paid for those, Brian Oleson. (I have made several deals with him) But he ponied up the money, good on him.
  20. How many times you gonna see "smite" on a hunting forum? Good stuff.
  21. Just a FYI. Czechoslovakia hasn't existed as a country for a while. Its either Czech or Slovak.
  22. Birth rates are 1 to 1. But herd averages vary. There's a terrific article a few years ago explaining how hunting pressure (and non hunting) effect ratio by ND A [formerly qdma] Google buck doe ratios
  23. I missed by a couple rifles having serial number matching caliber. Could have had a 375/375, just a few off. Damn. I have a barrel with my birthdate as serial. Some places a seperate barrel requires licensing and needs a number.
  24. One of the primary Senate sponsors wants every gun registered with a serial number. Funny thing is there are a pile of older guns, mostly sporterized bolt action rifles with no numbers. I know of several instances when traveling and having to get a temporary firearm license in another country, owners have had guns engraved with fictitious serial numbers to get paperwork. I run into issues with a custom rifle as it only has a 3 digit number, and even US Customs can't wrap their heads around even that concept of why it's so short. They think it's some sort of model number.
