Good stuff.

+1.... Nice to see someone from Dutchess get a good one.

No brain= no pain. I'll shoot anything. Just missed one of those FN Sears guns a few weeks ago for a good price. Have a 30-06 in the safe I bought over a year ago and finally bought a scope and rings for; a bit on the heavy side for my tastes, will work up a load as a project this winter.

What bullet are you using this season
Dinsdale replied to ATbuckhunter's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
Swift A frames in various calibers. They actually make other bullets? Why? -
Ran some full house loads in the RUM I owned in a 7 pound rifle.... Shoot a box of those off the bench in a t-shirt and ones shoulder was so stiff the next day you couldn't rub up ANYTHING. Sure did put some fair sized critters down in a hurry though!

Be very careful.... You get one of those old-man 30-06 rifles and before you know it you'll have a couple. Ask me how I know. LOL Never had a 30 cal? What are you some kind of Commie? You need a 300 RUM, better than a shot of Viagra to keep ya' young.

Gun of a lifetime dissapointment
Dinsdale replied to Jaeger's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Sorry to here about the issues. If its who I think it is; it even more troubling to hear as at one time they had a stellar reputation. Some years ago I bought and sold some lever actions for a time and the owner personally responded to several inquiries and did some repairs, and always received great service. Only kept one that I was toying with the idea of doing a restoration on and now I'm not so sure. Hope it works out whatever way you decide. -
Same here; But in the end the ones I like the best (and anyone else that has seen them), are the ones where a little more time and care was put into getting a nice pic. Never regretted taking good pics, wish I had a few opportunities back though.....

Cabelas Wooltimate Clothing
Dinsdale replied to NYBuckHunter27's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Have owned a woolimate jacket with the windshear for some years now, more than 10 anyway; favorite hunting coat and goes everywhere. I machine wash cold and hang to dry, occasionaly tumbled on low, haven't had a shrinking problem. -
Obviously I'm doing something wrong. No....not ever. 22LR's to full house 458 Lott loads. Maybe close to 50 mounts.....10 or so for others included. Lapped a few rings here and there to get a good fit, and sometimes use a little rosin on the rings if they don't have the right feel. Only rings I have had to mess with were some Burris Signature Zee's on a 22LR,11mm integral base rifle. Had to regrind the clamping geometry to get a good grip.

What, no pics in the back of a truck with some beer cans and assorted junk? Guess those shots will have to do.

Lived in a pair of the 90% Pants and the mid weight hoody for just under 2 weeks in New Zealand.....lots of thorns and rocks, hiking and hunting. Held up great, bought another pair of pants when I got home for future. If you shop around the 'net you can find prices that are discounted. I bought the 90% pants as 2013 model leftovers, the hoody with a sale and coupon with free shipping. Just have to know what you want (size/color) and poke around for a good price, but you have to be patient. I still like EMS Techwick baselayers and a few REI items (like the Schoeller pants). Original owner of Sitka has started another clothing company called Kuiu. Biggest knock (other than price) is lack of inventory and long waits for products. I cancelled a jacket order after 6 months. First Lite is another company I have tried gear from.......Rain gear is outstanding. Llano hoody in merino wool is a favorite both for work and hunting. Can't comment to insulated stuff for sitting, I can't sit for more than an hour unless glassing and then its easy to toss on another layer.

A couple of T/C Encore and Contender aftermarket 410 fully rifled barrels floating around.... Just sayin'

You suck. Swamped with work here..... Well, you see anything?

Remington Core-lokt .270 misfires anyone ?
Dinsdale replied to 132 eight pointer's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
No idea yet, see if powder burns when I pull the rest apart. Bought these private on line; but asked seller about them after this issue and he bought them new a few years ago, never let them cook in a vehicle etc..... Offered my money back, and I told him not to worry about it. Having a dud sure does tell if you have a flinch though; settling in and expecting a big bang and getting nothing was interesting. Lifted the bolt handle and dropped the firing pin twice on those 3 before ejecting them. -

Haven't been shooting my 375hh much, but have a hunt in mind and I stumbled across a box of Remington "Premier" with Swift A-frames on line. One of my favorite bullets and much cheaper than I could buy components. Figured I'd plink off the box sighting in and maybe hunt with open sights this fall.... How about 3 of 8 not going off? Good thing there wasn't a Cape Buffalo on the other end of the barrel. LOL I'm just going to pull the rest and use for components.....re sighted with some cheapo Prvi I had laying around for now and will go back to handloads. This fits; The most terrifying sound in nature is not the roar of a charging lion, nor the whistle of a descending bomb; rather it is a click when you expect a bang. Peter Capstick -
Have a bunch of Brenneke 28 ga slugs and a barrel with sights.... Someday I'm gonna head down south where 410's and 28's are legal for deer.
-
Good stuff. Congrats to the pup and the trainer.
-
^^^^this Keep the 243, you'll like that light rifle. Pick stiff bullets and go kill stuff.
-
Just depends on where I'm hunting (hunt in both shotgun and rifle areas) and my mood.... Still take a 20ga smoothbore 870 pump out with a single bead bird barrel; filled all my tags many years with that gun. Added a scope once and threw the whole mess away after one time out; just didn't feel right. Many of the rifles wear QD mounts and have sights, more often then not the scope goes on; but this year I'm gonna hunt one particular rifle without, just because I never killed a deer with that gun and open sights.

I do gutless and have packed a few.... I do leave sex proof attached by keeping a flap of hide on one of the rear quarters. Skin around that first and then cut down through the hip joint. Found that field boning rears makes them harder to carry for me, so I leave one with some hide on the inside.

Just call DEC in Albany.... They need year and location where you took the course. All I gave was the town as I didn't remember the actual name of the location. A week later I had a copy in the mail for an out of NY hunt....

Cool on the handgun kill....seen your pic.

Out a few times and seen lots of sign, haven't seen a bear though. Seen a good buck yesterday and watched him for a spell.
