Looks like a nice spot for sure. 30+ stands on 73 acres - wow how do you manage to decide on where to go?
-
Sounds like a good time. Never had mule deer venison before, I imagine it's a little different due to the local digs.
-
Yup I noticed tracks close to camp allot - back tracked them and noticed leaves missing from the cherry trees I recently planted. One apple tree is so loaded up I don't know how the branches haven't snapped. I just hope there's some around when Oct. gets here.

Could be the angle but the buck on the left looks 2x bigger - good thing they're still buddies. Both look healthy.

So this isn't really a review section it's a piss whine and complain section. I see I've wasted my time and enthusiasm here.

I was going to recomend the Magnus heads, but I've also used Thunderheads before, and would again.

fasteddie I have the same reaction to my WGI cams, but didn't want to get burned by another. So it was time to try another brand, new model. There was a Moultrie or two there, C-batteries, forget that. Funny how you can go to another thread somewhere and someone will claim they're junk to.

So I'm at Dicks sporting goods and decided to pick up one more cam for a new spot on the property. Mentioned the price range to the guy working there and he tried to sell me the WGI Blade 7mp. Looked like an ok kit ready to go but I didn't want to bite another WGI cam. The Stealth Cam was also a kit (sd card & batteries) & about the same $ so I picked one up with the 2-year warrenty. 6mp, burst mode, video ir, time date moon phase Yup I know the Blade had better ratings, but I didn't like how the WGI cam worked out or their customer service. The Reaper was a peice of cake to set up, I needed reading glasses to read the fine print instructions though damn. Another thing I like about it is 8x AA's instead of C batts. She's going up to camp with me next weekend as I finish up the new spot/stand. 3 weeks to the opener, well it's a new spot opened up or I should say easier access to the area opened up from the logging, new trials and I can finally hunt a side of the marsh where I friggin know they travel through and bed down at times. Walking through checkling out the area noticing the tracks and then just the right tree giving a little added elevation - better thermals - so I can face the stand n/w and get an eyfull of the area past the marsh which is on a slight ridge 20-30 yards from the skidder trail next to the marsh which also gives me another entrance point to help avoid getting patterned. Sorry but it's a little difficult to get this new spot off my mind..

I contacted WGI through email about a failing n8d and was told I was out of luck. Well that was a year or so ago, at least it works in video mode.

That's interesting. Wonder how long it'll last. Maybe you can find a light colored mesh for the openings so they don't look like eyes.

Decent sporting goods outfit. They don't have an online store though.

Not sure what to make of it. But it could be a natural deformaty. It doesn't look like the doe is unhealthy.

Got a decent set from Herb Phillipsons works fairly well, the label escapes me. But I remember the pants & jacket were not sold as a set. Worked out because the length difference and fit. I don't mind hunting in a little rain. All day though it can get old.

Ok it's about that time - you should all have Sept - Dec. printed out and pined to your camp wall or with you. http://www.sunrisesunset.com/usa/New_York.asp Pick your closest town and format. Enjoy hope it's useful.

Nice idea, I should have a few pics after this weekend.

"Phil spoke of how old school duck hunters wouldn't shoot birds in the air, they would let them land first, then scare them up and shoot. They believed if you couldn't get the ducks to land, you weren't a duck hunter." Sounds like some hooie to me. I am not strictly Bow, I tend to prefer it.

Very cool. Looked like he was aware of the cam but didn't care as long as it's nothing chasing him.
