  1. Probably the camera angle but the body shot 1st pic makes him look freakish.
  2. I would suggest your selection not be uncommon. At some point your going to want another pack, or damage some from use. Thats why I switched from Muzzy Phantoms to Magnus heads. One of the best Archery choices I ever made.
  3. So I finally got to use the bratwurst/sausage stuffing kit. First go with doing this. Only did 5lb of Italian & 5lb of bratwurst but this gives me plenty for camp this season and a bunch in the freezer. Didn't have the luxury of watching & learning from someone who's done this before so I just watched a few clips from youtube and got some process & tying tips. Almost felt a little embarrased not knowing this as a simple skill but there wasn't a need. I know alot of people use ground beef for the fat additive but I used ground pork and did a 70% ground venison to 30% pork mix. That's the easy part as I often grind and mix for burger or pasta dishes. Then there's working with the casings. Honestly it felt like I was playing with tape worms. You have to get past that and knowing your handling hog intestines. Ok, it does get better. The kit is a cast unit. It comes with 3 size stuffing tubes and it's designed to be bolted down to a platform. Or, perhaps at least clamped down. I decided to skip that part, that was a mistake. Because your using pressure, new unit the handle was stiff as heck and your processing all this monsence, hands are a bit greasy. I figgured no problem, started at 10:30, guess who was still going at 1 am. In the end I wound up with a dish pan full of fresh sausage. Went with keilbasa style links and they look real good. Looking forward to chowing down some of this work.
  4. Reminds me of those ketchup commercials with the anticipation song. Damn sometimes I feel old..er.
  5. Complete bummer. The other thing that sucks is how disturbed the area is now. Hope you can get into some of those stand spots with a climber. My first thought was anti's, but more than likely your place was cased by scumbags. Trying to think where would a thief dispose of these type of goods - they have to know eyes will be on craigslist etc., would scrap yards report suspicious material, I doubt it. Were not talking about small items so it's not like they could stash the goods in a sock drawer, whats left barn, shed, someone else's land. You may want to go look for them yourself but think twice before what happened makes you do something sinister. Any chance other cams may have snapped any of that traffic? Hope theres some justice, recovery or closer to this at some point.
  6. One thing that I'm struggling with is how some nurserys say they ship in the fall-Nov. What the crap by the end of Nov. there could be a foot of snow on the ground on the property.
  7. Exactly it is about individual choice. What freedoms we have left, before the nagging nanny state decides to try & force another law down our throats.
  8. Nice shot! a little youtube text note saying it was filmed in NJ would fix this up.
  9. Yup lost two to yotes, and a partial one I hung in a barn to an old hound dog.
  10. According to the extended phony forecast, for the first time in 3 years it might not rain for 5-6 days in a row at camp for the opener. Yeah right.
  11. Suburban deer, cool pics. I think I have the same 3-D.
  12. WesternNY nice pic. Are you sure that's your camera?
  13. 99` Cherokee 177k. Regular steady maintenance. Got 245k out of my last one but the previous owner towed allot with it class 3. I tow a light trailer on occasion and purposely went with a class 2 max.
  14. I think alot of us do set point 'at least' goals. But I also think they shift if tags don't get filled close to seasons end. I'm also glad to see I'm not the only older fart on this forum.
  15. Perhaps they are seeking new bedding areas close to Octoberfest.
  16. I save up a bunch of PTO for this time of year. I am looking forward to getting the frack out of town, camp up a storm, eat like a king, and hunt till my tags say when.
  17. Well, at least this was posted in the right section, instead of everywhere else on the forum. At one point it was like seeing those democrats in front of the grocery store with the clip-boards, panning for votes.
  18. On a old lease about 10+ years ago now I ran into a neighbor who turned out to be a cool old friend. This guy used an old Ithaca and went out for just one deer a year. Hunted in brown cord pants, old style square pattern flannel jacket and a Russian hat. Found out he was in the Korean war he didn't talk about that to much.
  19. Anyone else ever rip the butt threads out of a good pair of pants on that one loooong sticks step?
  20. Man, at 23 I had just gotten out of the Navy. Didn't care what I was doing as long as it wasn't in the Navy. Tried a few different jobs, maintenance in a plastics mfr, setup - installer, anybody remember primestar? grounds keeping, worked for a furniture store, hated that job. Then I landed a tech support job in my late 30's. Good company, good boss, took roots to it and was able to better care for my family. So yeah I would do that again. But those were my reasons and the timing around it, not yours. The advice I would offer you at your age; keep your eyes and skills open to possibilities, and learn to live on 70-80% of your net income.
  21. I have taken to a 16' sticks with one extra seprate section not for added stand height but so I can 'step' into my stand instead of climbing into it. And that extra few steps can be off set if need be. If your setting up a stand in a crap tree well screw in steps might be an option. But from a logging value viewpoint they can ruin the tree.
