  1. I expiramented with the Eureka 12v bug zapper this weekend. 3 out of 5 stars. :-\ :-X Who doesn't like to be bug free as possible when your camping, trying to cook out or just enjoying a good fire? By itself the unit doesn't have the nads to kill bigger bugs - moths. But it does attract bugs away from where you are. And if you pair it with a pic strip or two that will snag alot of `em. It comes with a 12' lead & 12v socket-plug.
  2. At 1:30 on the 4th. with 5 panels the regulator was indicating overcharge - full charge. 22 watts 4.2 amps feeding into a combiner box then into the system. Power consumed; charged 8 aa's, used dc lights for a few hours (didn't need to use the propaine lantern at all this weekend), vent fan maybe 2 hours, 12v zapper 4-5 hours a night, & the radio/cd player for about 24 hrs worth. I get about 1/2 dozen stations and cd's chew battery juice, so I made a bypass in the player to use a 12v socket for power. I'll be adding one more panel to up the amps, missed the HB 4th. sale but they always have sales & I get their e-mails. In the pic showing the controler I have the lead out fused feeding a small buss bar that feeds the lights, fan & a 12v triple socket adaptor. Placed a rocker switch inline for that & the fan has one. On the door side of the camper there's an old double 120v capped socket, if I can find a pair of 12v sockets (marine? - outdoor?) I'd like to run leads to that & have power available outside.
  3. Checking back in - awsome weekend! Except for not bringing enough bar-oil I got a bunch of work done at camp & enjoyed the holiday. It's nice to get some family up even if they are there for a day & relax.
  4. Here's to a decent long weekend - keep it together & enjoy.
  5. 5. You have more sets of camo than you do business suits; Part of being hardcore is when you put on the camo - you mean business
  6. Nice! I don't mean to sidetrack, but when did you first plant that plot?
  7. Congrats! One more year and it'll be forever.
  8. I'm thinking if you stick to the flag idea he'll find other plans.
  9. I set up my son's 20ga 500 (smoothbore) with these, picked up a box to try and was impressed at the range. They grouped better then any other slug. Feels like your shooting a 12ga; 2&3/4" shell, 1500 fps 1 oz slug. I also know that these will work well if you use a rifled choke due to the twist rate and velocity. I have not used these with a fully rifled bore. But for the performance & price of these I would say they have to be one of the best slugs on the market.
  10. Alright I caved and bought the 45 watt kit. With the sale & coupon it was about 145$. That gives me 5 panels for a 75 watt system. Believe it or not I wasn't planning to add to the system untill next year *cough* but that's a good deal & now I will look into power for a thermoelectric cooler (aprox. 4 amp draw), and move away from ice. Will probably need to parallel another 105 Ah deep cycle & add a 6th panel - time will tell. Already have a regulator wired in that will deal with that. Unfortunatly the regulator that comes with the kit, is apparently not designed for expansion. It is fused for 4 - 5 amps. However from what I read about it you can still hook it up to the battery & use the nifty connections it has. All these cool & quiet gadgets are adding up. But other toys like game cams can wait till `12, don't have alot of other hobbies and I love to camp out. I've got some background as an installer, and let's face it - if you got a camp, camper, or both your probably going through this thread because you can't leave some things alone Here's some other jazz I found that might be usefull; Use the map - find your Latitude. Optimum orientation of Solar Panels http://www.macslab.com/optsolar.html Some info on the HB 45W regulator.
  11. Are you using any kind of concrete deck support / block?
  12. Well obviously the Turkeys don't mind. Actually I think it's amazing that deer adapted and survived without coyotes taking it down.
  13. EZ-Pass? Reminds me of some of the locals in Subic Bay, PI. But that was a different time. Never used that service. But I do wonder why they would reconstruct a major section between Ex40 & 690 with concrete? Gives me 81 flashbacks.
  14. Actually the white kool-seal is an excellent recomendation. Metal is in it's application list. Had a little trouble figguring the coverage but their calc indicates about 2-gal. Since the roof does not leak I thought to get by without the tape. Even though that added investment would certainly make sence before coating and maybe squeeze a few more years out of the old woodsman.
  15. Well, magnet stuck right to it. So honestly I am not sure what coating is best at this point.
  16. When you gotta scratch .. Nice pics.
  17. That sounds like a nice time. I found out once the kids have grown up getting them all together for the holidays is not the easiest thing to do. But a day or two, to catch up and enjoy is good, very good. Lets hope for some decent weather.
  18. Well it's a `68 definatly not a rubber roof, saw a few rust spots so I don't think aluminum either. Next time I'm up I'm going to try and remember to bring a a portable level, or something that's got a magnet. Anyhow I'm not sure on the product, if it is aluminum then a fibered aluminum coating would make more sence then something elastomeric I would think.
  19. Finally - a measurable amount of rain! It's been kinda dry for the past few days after seeding - hopefully it's not to late.
  20. Anybody else thinking tenderloin in the 3rd pic? Nice shots!
