  1. No, this is not 'from' me. Friend of mine at work sent me this, she thought I would get a kick out of it. So I'm passing it on - bit on the fear factor side if you ask me. http://honest-food.net/wild-game/goose-recipes/duck-and-goose-recipes-the-nasty-bits/sausages-in-a-birds-neck/
  2. Well, at least it didn't trash your cam.
  3. That's neat. Wonder how far away mama deer was.
  4. A make shift fix for grilling or dutch oven cooking when its raining - large enough chunk of particle board or plywood & 2 3' lengths of 4x4 proped up at a slight angle against the outside blocks to hold up the cover.
  5. Nice lookin rig! Big change in ata or about the same?
  6. Going to try and keep this updated from time to time for progress. This is a new stretch plot, being done in 6k for the most part in the middle of the woods. Done with hand tools, with the exception of a reartine tiller - I mean come on. There are no farms or fields close by, there is ample water, and a swamp. I'll make use of the tiller, shovel, rakes, pole saw, hand operated broadcast spreader, an occasional hand-gallon sprayer, & a deer cart to help get jazz back there. Prior to this weekend I was up and sprayed the new plot and another one close by (about the same size) with Spectracide, its a sort of round up knock-off. Was up this weekend and cleared up the area a bit for the tiller & so I could spread fert. I didn't get everything I wanted done because a former relative passed away and I went to pay my respects. And so I will have to spread & till hopefully next weekend. I want to do two things with this mainly, well - besides draw deer to my lease for Bow season, one is learn from the experience, and second show what can be done with basic tools for a woodland - less then acre size plot. I am leaning toward forage chickory in this one. Btw the mosquitos & deer flies were obnoxious, had to work with a headnet, no breeze, ahh the fun. 1st. pic is the new plot facing west - a week after being sprayed. 2nd. pic a few hours later after clearing up the canopy a bit. (heavy overcast) 3rd. pic facing east with the sun trying to peek through.
  7. This should be duplicated under DIY. Good traps!
  8. Typicaly 20 - 30. Long shot last year was the buck just under 35.
  9. This pisses me off to no end. We have a deficit out of control, citizens uprooted by natural disasters getting the short end of the stick, but the government can spend our tax dollars on foreign welfare? > Have a read - It's All Your Money:Foreign Aid to Muslim/Arab nations
  10. I don't see myself outwardly planning to hunt wild boar. Target of oppertunity. On the other hand if I was normally hunting in a zone where they were ripping up my jazz that would be another story.
  11. Looks like he found his meth stash.
  12. 33Canuck just wondering about how far North did you go? Im in 6k, few birds, no shortage of bugs. Good hunting guys!
  13. Neat pics! Do I see antler nubs on this one? Ever wonder what goes through a bucks mind when he finds a piebald doe - 'is that a real piebald?'
  14. Thanks. Well I now know how long it takes to treat 2 plots, 1/2 acre by hand (sprayer). Sometime over Memorial day weekend I plan to clear the new one, overhanging branches, a few shrubs etc., and get it ready to till.
  15. Will this be EST sunrise or perhaps around noon? I'd like to get in a morning hunt and celebrate with Bacon.
  16. Hey any of you guys ever recoated or sealed a mobil home or camper/trailer roof? My camper roof doesn't leak, but it's older and has a few ruff spots. And so instead of building some elaborate roof structure to shelter it I found this recomended product called BLACK JACK Silver Seal 300 Fibered Aluminum Roof Coating. Lowes has it. I need to cover about 110 sq feet. I'm thinking a good sunny day after T-season to get it done. What else might I need?
  17. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1388660/Mississippi-flooding-Residents-build-homemade-dams-protect-floods.html Got to give these people some credit for trying to protect their jazz.
  18. While I'm certain Cumo has done this to increase revenue for the state, yes this bill is still a good thing.
  19. Pierce is also British and how unlike the Communist News Network to use someone like him who probably would pay to have our ammendments dismatled, to interview someone who's pro-gun. But isn't it just like the anti-Ted crowd to use this opertunity to spew.
  20. Saturday I saw 1 hen and 2 deer. Sunday I made the mistake of not bringing my boonie hat & bug net, thinking a ball cap & face net would work - big mistake.
  21. Yeah stick to it! There are other events that can make you want to call it or the day. Like this morning, called one in from about 150 yards out but he shows up behind me. Could hear him move about a bit sounded like he was moving to my left. And then nothing, 10 minutes go by, he was hitting the box call so I used it a little - nothing. 20 minutes go by, I figgured he didn't like the set-up and moved off. Nope - he went low & slow to my right 30 yards out but I didn't pick him up from the cover. And he putted right outta there. Then that sinking %$#@*&) feeling sets in because you just know you blew it but theres not a thing you can do. Well I went around to the other side of the strip of woods and set up, got him to gobble back once but he wouldn't come out to play. Would have ended my season, but I'm just going to switch spots, change it up and do a little camping. To the hunt!
  22. Not to long ago I picked up one of the keg tank adaptors to refill the 1lb jobs. Mainly to try and save some money down the road and recycle some small tanks instead of tossing them. It went fairly smoothly, there are a few precautions and steps. I know alot of people don't like the idea of doing this but it does work. You should chill the small tanks, and have the adaptor secured to the keg, and the keg should be upsidown durring the process. If you tighten the adaptor to the small tank 1st, it could stay on the small tank and you can wind up with a propane leak. As the adaptor opens the valve on the small tank. Alright, now the small tank is screwed onto the keg and ready to go, open the keg valve slightly untill you hear gas moving. Wait aproximatly 20 seconds and give the valve another 1/8 turn. From there it takes about a minute for the pressure to fill the tank and you stop hearing gas move. At that point you could open the fully open the main tank valve and should not hear gas moving at all, close the valve. Safely unscrew the small tank - Make Sure - the adaptor stays inplace on the keg. You'll hear a normal whisp of gas escape while it comes off. Then you should bubble test it, down and quick way is just drip a little water on the top valve to make sure there's no bubbles, turn it upsidown or remove the water after the visual. I did this with 4 small tanks, & used a marker to 'X' the label for each refill to track them. Of course the small tank valves won't last indefinatly but I should be able to get at least 1/2 dozen refills out of each one. Got my adaptor at harborfrieght but I saw them at Central Tractor as well.
  23. I dunno :-\ was picking up some camping supplies for this weekend and thought hey get a lb. of bacon, then noticed the prices were about what a gallon costs & put it back. Wasn't sure which product price disgusted me more. Must have thought it was ironic.
  24. If you could afford 16oz of bacon or a gallon of gas, which would you choose?
