  1. The solar thing is addictive, but at the same time a good way to go. 6th. panel is in and installed, this gives me about 5 amps for charging 2x 105 aH parrallel banked marine batteries. I bought some of those, btw they had very impresive shipping time, and used them to connect the panel feeds in the combiner box - to the charge controler. I have enough reserve now for what I want to run & a thermoelectric cooler but only for the weekends. The powerchill I have has a 3.65 amp draw. Next years budget may see a nice engel or edgestar. If I wasn't bent on getting away from ice 5 panels & 1 deep cycle was plenty for camp. Heck I was getting overcharge by 2pm on sunny days. 1 kit (3 panels) would be good for lights and a few other light amp-draw things. Ideally I could use another 2.5 amps next year. Could be done with another kit, or 1 more panel and an mppt controller. The kit is cheaper. Problem being either way I need a better controller as the current one is almost maxed.
  2. WNY I'll have a nice cold one at camp this weekend for ya
  3. Going to roll with a rye/clover mix. I have a cupfull of chickoy left over might add that in as well. Not happy with this weekends forcast though, was hoping for more rain. I'm hesitant to wait another week with the NZ opener about 60 days away.
  4. Looks like I'll be out one this year, unless medium draws a bit of luck.
  5. It's all bad, but ask yourself how much sleep are you going to loose over it. That kind of thing is going on all over the country. When I hear and read about news like that, I can't help but think why our country's worldly enemys hate us so much. All they got to do is wait untill the seems unravel and have a laugh while they wait.
  6. Nice! First thing I though was 'look at the loins on that $(@1#". Is that bad?
  7. There's one of those traps about 2 miles from my camp. Wonder what the DEC's plan is.
  8. Forcast here is actually calling for rain Sat. & Mon. but only 40%. What we need is 2-3 days of steady light rain so the ground can soak it up and not get washed out. My yard is crisp. Got to rework one plot already, something tells me I don't want to see the clover plot right now. At this point any rain is good but by next weekend I'm hoping we catch a break. Funny how it all means more work.
  9. Last year, recent enough I bough a dozen radial X weave Ravens at AJ's. I realy like `em. They were on sale, now I know they were last years model and they same arrow is probably made and slabbed with a different name. What do I care they fly great.
  10. Was just thinking if someone works off a few pounds before the season opens, remember to adjust your belt loop.
  11. I try to make an effort to walk about a mile every day. It's encouraged at work for break so alot of us do it. Weekends I often plan to relax but never do untill the evening.
  12. Update: I believe to have unknowingly killed the chickory plot before it had a chance. :-[ That plot aside from a handfull of weeds is dry & brown. Got some information about the spray I used (Spectracide), & that it contains Dicambia, a broadleaf weed killer. With a 1/2 life of 30-90 days. It's been about 40. I could piss and moan, but it's my own fault then for trying to save a few bucks. I think there's still time to salvage that plot; a good suggestion was oats & rye. And then rework it next spring for chickory. Didn't have good luck with oats up there last year though. And so another suggestion was reseed with chickory & rye, take a chance that has a back-up. I would consider a mix given the circumstances. Biologic makes a buckweat & peas mix that looks good, but I just don't know. In any case I think this weekend is out due to dry weather, maybe over the 30th or Aug 6th. August is a flag month, I mean need to have some vacation time planned, NZ seasons are sneeking up etc. edit; btw the clover is starting to green, I'm sure it's water starved but that plot has some growth.
  13. Well aware of what their site has to offer, but that is what she said, corp decision, corp policy. The CT's near me do not stock any plot seed at all. They would not allow my order to be shipped in. Maybe it's not statewide then. My business is still going elsewhere.
  14. I had a similar experience at CT (tractor supply). The employees involved didn't seem anti hunting, in fact the one guy placed the seed order for me but it got cancelled because their corporate policy dictates they will have nothing to do with supplies for food plots in NY. Yet I believe you can go into PA and not have a problem. Brought in the same proof from the DEC that it is all perfectly legal and explained what supplies are involved, not just seed but the fertilizer, lime, impliments etc. And that's just from one guy, now mutiply that by the hundreds of people doing plots and tried to explain to the manager the potential for profit those clowns are missing out on. She seemed to be less then caring and stuck to their corporate policy excuse. I realised persuing this there was futile and to take my business eleswhere.
  15. They are legal, one of the few things we can do. http://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/7197.html & http://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/7284.html You can hunt near them, over them, your call. What you have heard from 'others' is just opinion.
  16. Nothing like walking up on a new plot you meticulously planned, planted and worked a month later and find dry brown soil & a handfull of weeds. Son of a $!tc^. >
  17. Not long ago I picked up the harbor frieght 10 ton log splitter. It's basicaly a 10-ton jack on a splitter frame. What the instructions don't make very clear is the difference in the handle operation. But it's easy to figgure out once you have pressure on. The other thing I noticed right away was a slight assembly - design flaw. There's a bracket welded to the end of the piston, springs are attached to it to draw back. The problem is the bracket slightly extends past the piston - this can place extreeme pressure on the welds, three welds. So off to the hardware store, or was it lowes, anyhow I picked up a 1&1/2 id nipple and a cap end. That fits snug enough, but keeps any logs away from the bracket and puts pressure on the piston where it belongs. Once the warrenty is up I might have this welded up better but in any case I put this to the test after work. Below is a pic of the work this thing did in about 3 hours. That's with griling & beer time
  18. Headed out to camp this weekend, almost afraid to go check the plots but it's time.
  19. We all need to practice. It sounds like you might not have settled into a consistant stance yet. Have another archer shoot with you and check out how your holding at full draw.
  20. Fantail

    New bow

Nice Bow - just thinking with the ibo that has a dozen carbons in the right weight would do it justice.
  21. I'll give `em that. Texas has executed the mexican national for the brutal rape and killing of a teenage girl in 1995. The POS should have gotten their express lane.
  22. Well isn't this wonderfull .. I don't suppose they want people using roundup.
