  1. Found this article, looked interesting. Wonder what it may lead to. :-\ http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/05/10/new-insect-repellent-thousands-times-effective-deet/?test=faces " Researchers at Vanderbilt looking for better ways to control the spread of malaria have stumbled across an insect repellent that is thousands of times stronger than DEET. But it doesn't just work to confuse malaria-carrying mosquitoes. This new compound works against all insects, including flies, ants, and moths."
  2. Gone back down to 3.99 here, only 10c drop but maybe it's a sign.
  3. Fixed the last link, cool pics! http://www.flickr.com/photos/59639278@N07/5706201699#
  4. Would make an interesting morning no doubt.
  5. Just a heads up I was in chinamart yesterday and noticed an Energizer 'quick' Charger that has a dc plug option. Under 30$ and includes batteries. Apparently the mosquito head nets are flying off the shelf.
  6. I'd agree with ny hunter, I'm also a .243 fan. Wouldn't mind a go with a 25-06 though, something about the quarter bore fasinates me. I wouldn't overlook the 22mag, alot of fun to shoot and 50 rounds a box. You can get ammo for it almost anywhere. Friend of mine at work has a Rem tripple duce 788 that's a sweet shooter. He absolutly refuses to part with it.
  7. In using products like roundup with Glyphosate, while checking the plots I noticed alot of short leafy weed like plants growing where I planted oats last year. And in the new plot area, I thought before I till all this back up and have weeds grow back again perhaps it would be a good idea to kill them off. Should I till then spray or spray then till shortly after? How soon after that is it safe to fertilize & plant? Thanks!
  8. jusputtn has a good point. If they figgure out July 1st., we'll tell `em all about the deer & horse flies that take over Actually that's not even funny.
  9. 4 days decent weather, ample sun - had the panel hooked up to the controller to the Jeep battery since it was kind of a trial run and the rest of the project should be budgeted soon. I was able to charge 8 aa's off direct dc & 1 18v using the inverter, plus run a small light in the camper on occasion. Off 1 15w panel. By the time I left the controller indicated a full charge. Now the other part, at least once a day I had to use a soft cloth and wipe the dust of the panel, looked like pollen. Also the canopy isn't exactly wide open so I had to change the angle and rotate the panel maybe 3 times a day. Once the trees return to life I can see another panel just to get the power, so might as well plan for the 45w kit.
  10. 1 wild Turkey breast-side - or - 2 chicken breast sides (skinless) 1 12oz. can chopped collard greens 1 cup Italian dressing 1/4 cup Texas Pete hot sauce - or - soy sauce 1/4 cup chopped sweet onions (optional) Chop the turkey or chicken into 1/2 teaspoon size chunks, mix all the rest of this jazz into the dutch oven. Stirr carfully as to not rip the liner. Cook for 20 minutes. Serves 2, you'll frackin love it. Heck of a way to cook up fresh bird btw.
  11. Is the pit ready to cook up some jazz? Why, infact yes it is.
  12. So it turns out I already have a dc- aa/aaa charger, about a year ago picked up a duracell mobile charger at chinamart 30$, I think. Well it included 4 rechargables, anyway was just using it at home all the while, the other day I picked it up to charge 4 aa's and noticed the plug - luckily I'm a bit of a pack rat and saved the adaptor. Works good.
  13. Doewacker good story, I mean not so much for you but I know what you mean by good hunts spoiled. You know you want to go back there.
  14. What doubts I may have without visual evidence pales to the historic event that has taken place. I am sure the cloud of political correctness weighs on how this was broadcasted to the world. I do not like our current POTUS however I gotta think he doesn't want another scam like wmd on his hands so this had to be confirmed. It is done.
  15. Well I thought I was ready, but the opener wasn't smooth. No problems with gear, or anything like that, but by 9:30 my ankle was throbbing and I had to call it. Was in a great spot and working a hot bird but wound up calling in three hunters from the neigboring property instead. I could hear a few other birds gobbling their fool heads off but no-way I can make it way up the hill to get near them. Perhaps closer to next weekend after a few days off at my camp where the ground is a little flatter I may have some luck.
  16. Only took 10 years.. Well I think this happening now should offer us an avenue to get our troops out of the area and offer closure. Iraq wants us out of there, Pakistan is turning on us, and Karzai - he's a clown.
  17. Got about an hour at work left - climbing the damn walls can't wait to bug outta here and get ready for camp, so I can wait another day. Hey that's the breaks just burning to do things outdoors & get some Thunder Chicken time in. To Luck!
  18. I was looking over the calendar for May & possible pto days, and I thought hey why not take a few 1/2 days and just do day runs like the old days? Well, back then gas was about a buck a gallon. ki·bosh noun \ˈkī-ˌbäsh, kī-ˈ; ki-ˈbäsh\ Definition of KIBOSH : something that serves as a check or stop <put the kibosh on that>
  19. My condolences, now is the time you need to be with family & friends. May she rest in peace.
  20. That's awsome! Nice pics too, you should get the fan mounted on a plauqe with one of those pics in it.
