Severe weather tonight in the Southern tier.
Fantail replied to First-light's topic in General Chit Chat
weather . com has some unreal video - AL seems to have been hit the hardest 180 kiled, total over 250 now. the whole mess is just frustrating to think about. Sorry Burt, I bet you didn't think the thread would roll a hard 6 like this. It does look like we are going to get a break over the weekend. -

Ok hold on a second guys, the welfare I was referring to is the funds & resouces poured into other countries, the big give away. It's disgusting. Attention is needed at home before our country bleeds itself to death and given to our own states & citizens for people hit with disaters, people not realy looking for a welfare check but how about a helping hand from local government getting back on their feet, burring their dead, getting back to work and rebuilding their lives. The national debt? Oh my god, yeah so lets borrow more money to give away while corporations sell out to foreign interest and we are owned by foreign oil. It burns my @ss to be disgusted with our own government. -

Accrost the states latest storms - death toll is climbing near 200. Sorry if this sounds political but the US needs to end this frackin foriegn welfare BS so states have more resources to take care of our own. -
Just a heads up - I got a new harbor frieght flyer sale ends May 31 - coupon for the 45w solar kit 169$ - 60$ off. Dang, should have waited, oh well gears are still turning.

Got a can or two of permathin that I'll use up. Decoys are ready, calls - gear . I use the Fed premium #5 or 4. Weather is still looking good let's hope it holds. To luck!

Frackin WoW those are cool!

Sure, & use good wire & what connections I need. But I think that would void the panel warrenty. If I use an extra cable and cut - splice it then I'm thinking it would avoid that problem plus solve another. The controller also uses the same connections except for the utility line. What puzzles me a little is how to connect multiple panels, but I'm not worried about that right now. Found some on Amazon (battery tender) that look about right. I'm also thinking with quick disconnects I can store the panel in the camper when I'm not there.

Just a heads up on the harborfrieght panel cables, apparently they use S-S style connections. A search for Solar Panel S-S Extension Cable shows a few limited sources, UK based.

Dicks Sporting goods has a few around 80$ sometimes you can catch a decent sale. My son has trouble sitting still at times and he uses that blind more then I do. Sometimes you'll see guys wearing black hunting clothes which should help mask any movements from inside a blind. Well, ok but the blank pants is a bit much, I mean your sitting down.

Your mission soldier; leave no gut pile behind. :-\ I'm thinking if, I wasn't isolated and a modern enemy patrol came into range I could take out 2, maybe three before I bought the farm. Then it's up to who else is with me. By myself I think what skills I have would be best served providing food and improvised shelter. Who hasn't heard something like 'if the shtf im comming to your house'. I might say, 'ok what are you going to bring?' Then you get the puzzled look. http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=red+dawn North Korea? : Well, maybe it'll be decent. -
Tail_Hnt nice mount there.

I have two bobble heads, usually setting them up in the sun fixes them up. Better check `em it's about that time The foam deal is in decent shape even after a few years, one cold day out with it it stayed a bit dented, but the gobbler that went up to it didn't seem to mind.

Well, doesn't that look easy Just thinking even if I had a steady stream near camp not surrounded by mud or swamp I'm not sure how practical it would be. Cool idea though, an alternate for overcast days - portable hydro. So considering time on location I'm realy back to solar. Thought about a small windmill to but they are nowhere as cheap as panels, and it's camp, not a summer - fall home. On the other hand if someone had the right property, a place they could more or less live at then 2+ sources of power would be a no brainer.

After googling 'squirrel cage fan' because frankly I was thinking 'what is he talking about?', I'm still not sure what your talking about. Unless it's something to do with the hampster wheel out of a blower moter somehow turning a generator? Sounds ok if enough water was constantly rotating it. Picked up that small charge controller btw, the utility leads don't leave much slack but hooked up right perhaps it dosen't need to. Going for the deep cycle & box next payday. One thing that concerns me is the lead from the panel. The style seems proprietary and I'm sure to need another 10' or so.

A supply of Tred-Not deerfly patches arrived today. Not expecting them for a few weeks yet but I hope to post results about them when they do.

In the camping section - off the grid - there is a link to a d/c pump. Perhaps that or the outfit selling them has something your looking for.

Going to try to hit the opener. But if the weather is 1/2 way decent at camp it's a working weekend so maybe some old WMA I had luck in the past on. haven't heard much gobbling but seen a few fans & hens in fields.

stopped raining long enough to check some cams
Fantail replied to G-Man's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
All kinds of variety going on. The grouse pic all fanned up is neat. Hey I'm wondering do you use rechargables and find your cams drained? -
Cool pics. The 6:47 doe looks like it had a rough winter.

There will always be some clown who thinks saftey is a luxury and short change it. And then there are plain accidents. The guy in the pic - well all I can say is if that's not photoshoped then he's lucky to be alive. When I was in the local FD rescue I can remember seeing some nasty & mangled things. One common thing was a head-on or t-bone where the passenger not wearing a seatbelt, who's head hits the windshield. It would typicaly expand & crack just enough grabbing hair and some scalp ripping it away as the victim slams back into the seat. Head trauma victims typicaly get nausious, so you got blood, skin and vomit on your gear now. Then there was burn victims. Or the brave drunk driver who hits a tree at 90 and kills himself and the passenger, who's thrown from the vehicle and their guts are in someones front yard. We shoot and gut things, some of us shoot ground hogs with a bullet that hits it's head at 3700 fps and look at the end result and think - awsome. So I guess I don't see what makes that pic so upsetting or gross. having said that i can remember when my kids were little and one would get a bloody nose or cut. When I saw my own kids blood that was kinda freaky.

That, and just planing ahead, cut out convenience runs. One exception might be Thursday, there is a place that has a special on wings, they are good and the waitress is nice on the eyes. In all seriousness for those of us who drive 90 miles or so to get to camp - hunt when fuel hovers 5$ in the fall I think most of us would agree we have to become more efficient with travel. And it's going to hit home when you know there is work to be done, not for a few gallons in the tiller, weed wacker or chainsaw, but all the extra weight & towing. Then there's the toys. I decided not to get a generator for camp but instead try the solar route and use the firepit & propane. Imo the white gas lantern days are gone. Even thought about trying one of those wind up lanterns. What is all this little crap going to matter. Well, if your going to budget for fuel, and it's going to cost more, funds have to come from somewhere. Got a netflix account? - put it on hold for 3 months. Got a 2nd cell? Kill it. Things like that. If your innner-self wants to go hunting, you will find a way.

Noticed a nice crabbapple starting to bud up today. It got me thinking afternoons durring spring turkey might be a good time to plant a tree or two. I mean I'll be at camp, pickaxe - shovel, something to burn an hour or two. I think there would be a stress - growth period after planting so I wouln't expect a handfull of fruit untill the next year. :-\

Welcome to the busted-up archer's club I can draw now but wrist injuries are haunting. Good luck! What's your bows ata & #? Just thinking if your 60 or under it would be easier on the shoulder.
