Hey AJDAL94, you say you are a freshman does that mean you are living on campus. If so you may want to check about the legality of having a bow on school property. I know it sounds stupid, but I believe NY now classifies a bow as a firearm. Would hate to see you get in trouble because of some stupid laws.

Cornell does allow hunting on some of their property. You just need to apply and they do a back ground check.

My lifetime license arrived a few days ago. Also the hard Black Bear card says lifetime Sportsman & bow on mine.

Well according to this story you will need to buy a Muzzlerloader tag to hunt with a crossbow expect during the regular hunting season. For licensing, the new law treats crossbows as a "muzzleloader." Hunters must possess a muzzleloader hunting privilege to legally hunt with a crossbow during any muzzleloader season OR during open portions of the early bowhunting seasons. I believe there is a problem with the system or the people using the new system are not trained on how to use it yet. I believe the land owners permit option is setup different in the DECAL system now. I went to get my DMP permits. I qualify for landowners so he put the info in, and I told him the units I wanted. He prints the tags, and I only get one tags and get land owners preference for area that I don't own and land in. So I had to call DEC and I believe it is straightened out, but yet to get my correct tags in the mail.

I have not received my Lifetime license yet either

I called 1 866 472-4332 and just listed to the options which I believe I used #3. You can only get 1 landowners tag now.

Went to get my DMP permits and either the clerk or the system messed up. I got a landowners DMP for one area, but did not get a permit for the area that my land owners is for. Had to call DEC they are sending me 2 new tags in the mail.

See if there is a natural funnel in the woods. I hunt a lot of farm land that has small patches of woods, and have great success setting up in natural funnels. I don't always see lots of does, but boy do I see the bucks.

Well a few weeks puts us in Sept, which is when the new license's are valid, as they switched them this year to Sept 1st instead of Oct 1st

I believe I had my lifetime license a few years before I got my pretty black bear card.

If you have the Giant Hogweed you can email the DEC at [email protected] . I have reported a few patches over the years. They come back every year and spray and pull them. If you have any of theses or know where there are any I would report them. The look pretty but if you don't know what they are and mess with them and get the sap on you you can get very nasty burns and scar's.

They changed the bow regulation this year to 150 Feet and a Crossbow to 250 Feet.

I think a big part of the problem is deer move to area's where hunting is not allowed or is on posted private property.

I get 4 DMP permits almost every year between 8S and 8J. Being a land owner I usually always get my first two permits, and then go back on Nov 1st and most of the time I can get more permits for 8J.

It was the super cold winter that killed off the buds. If you cut a bud open in the spring before the opened they where black. I did not have a cherry at all on my trees this year, and last year I picked 200 lbs.

So you dad is going to hunt the parcel everyday and you are only looking for 10 acres.Then if there is a building near a one part of the property, that could effect up to 2 1/2 acres of the land in one direction.In reality 500 feet in all directions equals 10 acres.That is a major problem right there, 10 acres in not that large of area to hunt everyday, even with the best food source would cause the deer to mostly likely leave or turn nocturnal. Again this is just my own option.
