Leaving your climber on a tree???
HectorBuckBuster replied to longislandhunter's topic in Bow Hunting
I have left some of my climber tree stands in the woods for years. I have a couple of the older metal ones work good to scout and can move them wuick if the deer patterns have changed. What I did was got some odd size bolts to fasten the climber together, so unless you bring wrenches or 2 sets of vice grips you can not get my stand unhooked. -
I have chatted with a few scorers and they where saying it is alot hard to measure a mount then then just the antlers themself. They can get a better measurement when the are doing the measurement from the base to the tips alot easier. Just trying to work around the ears and trying not to damage or mess up the mount. Its easier to move and pair of antlers around then a whole shoulder mount when doing the scoring.

It just makes it alittle hard to measure.

What do you think? Ethical or not?

If this same bear that was a wild tame bear, mauled a person or kid, every person would be up in arms wanting this bear killed which it would be. Which this would lead back to all the people the feed this bear for 17 years.Maybe they should have given tickets to all the people that admitted they feed this bear. -
State $$ for food plots?

Hey Outdoortom, you got 8 ponds put in but they can not have water in them for 10 years? Why ? Seems like the ponds would start filling up with soil, and brush in that time frame. -
I posted this a few months ago.I see someone changed the story line. The version I posted had it fighting with big foot before it was killed. LOL

Fighting or Queer Deer? You decide.
HectorBuckBuster replied to CNYScott's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
I have seen this a couple times around our area over the years where hunters have shot what they though was a buck, until they went to gut the deer only to find out it did not have the correct parts down there. -
Camo Truck Kits
HectorBuckBuster replied to 6county's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
There is a place near Watkins Glen (Beaver Dams) that will do it for you, and I don't think it that expensive to do. -
The neck ones look like slug burns from shooting at the deer from behind, I am guessing that big chunk was a slug wound.

Or a really big cat is in the area.

I know for a fact some on the vineyards in my area have only 20 acres of grapes and received 9 Nuisance permits alone. I have also had vineyard owners stand right next to me and tell ne that shot 39 deer on Nuisance permits and left everyone right where they shot them and this owner has less then 100 acres or land. Plus then these Vineyard owner then get Doe tags that can be used during regular deer season too. As Nuisance permits can not be used after Oct 1st.

As a land owner the tax credit idea sucks. Sorry, I know what would happen you would get over run with people even if they don't have permission. I limited on my property to around 4 people per season. I already get agriculture assessment on my farm land. Also most people don't know this, but farmers get their school taxes back from a Farmers School Tax Credit refund on their taxes. Also again the AR is all about people shooting a huge buck.Big bucks are a trophy for a reason, they are hard to get. I pay my taxes and if I want to shoot a spike on my property I should have that right. When my daughters is old enough to hunt, and a spike came though, I would love to see her take that deer.JUst the same and if I had a older relative that wanted to hunt again, and say a spike came through and they take this deer. This could be their last deer in the life you never know. I had a uncle who just passed away this summer at 80 years old, he called me a few years ago and had the itch to hunt.I told him a spot to go and a buck passed through there like clock work at 7:30 am. Well opening day came and at 7:30am he shot this buck (6 pointer small), but he was so happy and this was his very last deer and hunting season. There are fewer and ferwer hunters and AR, will push alot more hunters away.Don't get me wrong the opening of bow season on Oct 1st would be sweet, but again, this is just favortism to the bowhunters, and the gun hunters get nothing. So you want to give bow hunters another 2-3 weeks (depending on the current date of opening day of bow season) and then take away a week of gun season.

Well give you guys a big pat on the back when the land owners son shot the deer. I know most people hate giving up a deer but, the DEC law says the killing shot is who the deer belongs too (in the southern tier atleast). It sounds like little 4 pointer may have gotten you guys some huge brownie points for the future.

Well my opening day of deer seasons started out with two does running in front of my car, I missed the first one, but the second on ran right into my headlight area. Knocked her down and she got up and ran away. I was kind of bummed she ran away, as she was a all white doe except for her head was brown. So I look around for a few to see if she died off the road, but nothing. So running late, I pull into where I park on my farm, and there is a buck and a doe 30 yards away. I get to my stand and never seen a deer. For some reason the deer seem to like me little 3000 lb Avenger.

Look at the first picture on the right side g4 then looks real short, then look at the right side g4 looks alot longer. I did see a point at the base of the left antler, so maybe it has 3 more sticker points some wheres else.

Don't know too much about this deer. I heard it was taken in Southern Seneca County Area. They say it was a 14 point, scored 170's and then 150 after deductions. The hunter name is Jamie Vann. I not sure if this was posted on this site yet or now.

The bucks are moving.I just got some photos of a really nice buck on my cell phone from a friend, that this buck was chasing a doe through the cemetery up on near East Hill Plaza in Ithaca at around 12:00 pm today. He was within 10 feet of this buck, all the buck wanted was the doe he was following. Sorry for the crappy pics

If I was looking for a house, I would look at the one in that video that had the 4 sale sign in it.

I was told by a Forest Ranger for the Finger Lakes National Forest that they went through the woods and GPS and marked where they found tree stands, and any they find after the season, they are going to take them and auction them off at the Vermont National Forest. Not sure how to this is.

My faith in internet stories has been restored Finnally, some honesty in big buck hunting stories.. Here's a picture of the new world record whitetail. It was taken by the cousin of a co-worker's sister's, uncle's, best friend's, son-in-law's, niece's hairdresser's, neighbor's ex-boyfriend's oldest nephew. Reportedly it will score 2603-1/8 by B&C standard and was shot in West Texas on a really windy day, 85 degrees downhill, around a curve at 900 yards with a 22 mag. Supposedly, this deer had killed a Brahma bull, two Land Rovers and six Jehovah's Witnesses in the last two weeks alone. They said it was winning a fight with Bigfoot when it was shot. It had also been confirmed that the buck had been seen drinking discharge water from a nuclear power plant. I received this email and though it was kind of funny, did not know where else to post it.

Found this on YouTube. This is a very nice 10 point. It appears by the back ground in the beginning, this must be in the north end near the Seneca Meadows Dump, as it can be seen in the background (or atleast the huge mound)
