  1. Just saw the coolest thing on way home. I'd almost call it a white hen but probably better described as light light tan. Her and long beard walking in tilled field. Tried to get pic thru binocs but that didn't pan out. Crazy coloring on her and noticed her first Wild !
  2. What a downright bummer of a year. The clock is ticking with lousy weather up and coming. Pretty sure I've never eaten both tags since I've started chasing these birds years ago. Have seen some pretty neat stuff in the woods but no gobbler in range. Not sure where the 2 longbeards we saw in youth season went. Cripes I'll smash one of those 4 jakes we had going last week. Humbling
  3. WNY- smash that ole bird ! Guess I know which way wind blowing as deer directly behind me blowing. Deer during turkey season and turkey during deer season. Blah blah blah. Every year
  4. Why not ?! It's only sleep and gas. Veeries ( sound like a twisting descending whistle ) , catbirds and wood thrushes singing nicely. Would be wonderful if I heard a gobble. Good luck people
  5. Had my 35 + year old Lynches out today for the first time all year. Think I found the chalk to chalk it up in pocket number 17. Pulling out all the stops now. Love the clucks on it. It's very tough for me to dumb it down on a yelp though. Too quiet today to let her rip , that baby screams decibals I've heard putting cotton balls inside it will quiet it down but never tried.
  6. WTF is a gobble you guys speak of ?! I'm sold on full moon makes birds a little wonky. Temps , I've noticed a difference Barometric pressure I've never paid attention to but there could be something behind it. In a nutshell. They're turkeys and try as we might well never figure them out. Awhile back on here someone post turkeys don't know what their next move is seconds before doing it. Ain't that the truth.
  7. Rob , We used to do a lot of froggin as kids. Pellet pistols or golf ball retrievers with fishing line , a hook and piece of red yarn. Not sure when season opens but I may have to look into it and do it again.
  8. 5 slates , 2 glass , push pin and my 35 year old Lynchs 101 foolproof box have all come up dry. Guess I need a copper Going to order a Lonnie Sneed slate off season as well. He's supposed to make some great calls.
  9. Got up at 3, hunted , mowed and weed whacked 3 lawns , cleaned my folks gutters , tilled the veggie garden( Using Mantis is like slow dancing with a kangaroo ) , put down black anti weed cloth and planted a bunch of tomatoes , peppers , peas , beans , rhubarb and a few others. Time for an imperial session beer. Oxymoron of beers.
  10. Wooly, found your gals sister on the way home from hunting. She's going to help me with putting our veggies in. Haven't had one of these in many years.
