Agonizing listening to birds gobble yet again on other hill I don't have permission to hunt. Going to call in a fire mission. First few mortar rounds will be fire for effect

Typical deer dodging on way out on drive. My lil hunting buddy is done for the year. She started getting a fever and sore throat yesterday. She got a tear when I woke her up this morning and said she didn't feel good enough to go. Got her out 6 times I believe. Never would have bet she wouldn't nor I get a bird this year. Good luck to all who are out. The fat lady is indeed warming up to take the stage.

Home and nothing talking again today. No bugs ever in Eagle /Bliss for me (us ) Wow , in a nutshell , this season has sucked something fierce. Maybe hunt tomorrow and Tuesday or maybe not. Still pending

Nary a sound ... again. No deer to watch. Going to take my first ever nap in the woods. I set claymores next to dekes in case they sneak in silent.

I'm no expert but 7 am might be little early for all those hens to go to nest. But you're right on " are they more or less nested atop of one another ?" I know a few guys / gals are still seeing henned up toms. Another forum had thread about toms gathering more hens now than early season. This was PA but seeing same thing. Doubtful all hens lost nest , early season was wet and cold but not over the top. And you mentioned pea brain birds , well so far they've outwitted me for the year. Guess that puts me in the opossum category of smarts.

So flying solo today. Lil one this morning said she's going to take the day off. Hope today ain't the day for birds to be stupid and not tomorrow. Had to jam on the brakes again for yet another trio of fox pups. Day 17 about to begin. Owls are hooting nicely this morning. Good luck to all. And what a warm walk in. I'm soaked with sweat.

Wooly , I saw those birds there. That's what got me thinking escapees Not necessarily from there but coloring in general as penned birds. What I really want to see in the turkey woods is an escaped ostrich. I'm sure as heck sending my daughter out for that head stand Time to grow up kid ????

wife planted garlic last year. Maybe 10-12 plants. Tops are a good 24"-28" now. What's the key? Pick in late summer / fall when tops turn brown and dry out ?

i bought that last year to celebrate smashing a nice bird. Now I thought quite a bit of bourbon forward.

Rabbits are brutal here. Hoping for better results than last year. Lil bastids ate $100 of decorative plants in 2 nights. 3rd they ate the sugar snap peas. 24 plants overnight. They chewed holes thru the plastic snow fence to get into garden. 6 tomato plants of mixed variety , 4 types of peppers , peas , bunch of lettuce. Nothing big but fun to appreciate.
