  1. Shame on the ducks but none the less pretty cool to see Mr owl.
  2. Got there at 9:45 and was #3 on sign in sheet. Got out of there at 11:15. Only 2 people working but gotta say it was ALOT better than driving downtown, looking for parking and taking even longer. Allen was the gentleman who helped me out and a pleasure to deal with. Chris Jacobs was there thanking all who came down and shook my hand. I asked him about the SAFE ACT and the mandatory 5 year renewal /background check. Going on what 3 years now of SAFE ACT and troopers have no idea on how to go about this process so he said "when" they finally figure something out there will be an announcement but don't expect anything soon. Channel 2/4/7 were all there but everyone opted out of interviews, me included. Granted they are ironing out some wrinkles and it'll get quicker but all in all a pleasant experience. And some .44 going down range tomorrow. . Side note. I learned from gent waiting that you can go into PA sheriffs office and in about 20 minutes obtain a non resident pistol permit providing you have a NYS permit. I have a Utah non resident and PA just opted out of recognizing it. New Hampshire online is piece of cake too. No classes or such like a Florida or Utah. The benefits of these non resident permits is other states recognize them. Great if you travel a bunch. Just a heads up.
  3. Thought this may help out from not having to go downtown Going this morning to get that .44 on my permit. Hoping the wrinkles are worked out as today is the first day they are open ERIE COUNTY CLERK JACOBS TO OFFER SATELLITE LOCATION FOR PISTOL PERMIT HOLDERS County Clerk says Cheektowaga Town Hall Affords Central Location to Customers Erie County, NY- Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs announced that the Erie County Pistol Permit Department will offer weekly satellite services to permit holders every Wednesday from 10 a.m.- 3:45p.m. beginning June 1st inside Cheektowaga Town Hall located at 3301 Broadway. The enactment of the New York State SAFE Act has resulted in an unprecedented increase in the number of new pistol permit transactions in Erie County and since then Jacobs has been working on ways to improve service delivery. In a recent analysis of pistol permit holders by zip code, Jacobs identified that pistol permit holders are evenly dispersed throughout the county. This study prompted Jacobs to approach Town Supervisor Diane Benczkowski to offer pistol permit services at Cheektowaga Town Hall, which is centrally located in the county with easy access from the Thruway. “I have heard from hundreds of pistol permit holders over the last few years asking for an alternative to coming downtown to amend their existing permits, I’m very glad that we were finally able to find a solution,” stated Jacobs. “I want to thank Cheektowaga Supervisor Benczkowski for partnering with us on this initiative.” “We are pleased to work with Erie County Clerk Jacobs and his office to provide a suitable satellite office location for pistol permit holders to conduct business,” said Supervisor Benczkowski. “Cheektowaga welcomes the chance to serve residents from across Erie County.” At this time, only pistol permit holders that have plastic permit cards will be able to take advantage of the following services: add/remove firearms, update personal information, pick up new or upgrade applications, submit opt-out form or upgrade application. Anyone interested in applying for a pistol permit or moving from a paper permit to a plastic card permit must do so at the Pistol Permit office located in Old County Hall, 92 Franklin Street, Buffalo. For additional information, please contact the Pistol Permit Department at 858-6600 or visit www.erie.gov/clerk/pistolpermits.
  4. Ha , did the same thing about 10 years ago. While turkey hunting I found some great trails along creek and leading from woods to field. Well I didn't have a trail cam then. Hung a ladder stand with the wind typically playing perfect. Didn't I sit there the first 3 days of gun season dark til dark without seeing a thing. Yup , come to find out those trails were only being used at night. I still chuckle at my " supposed guarantee " dead deer. It feels weird that turkey season is over and it's only day 1. Time for the family to start doing some fishing and look forward to youth gun season.
  5. . Ya , not a fan of them either. How many times have I picked up a rock looking for worms to find them things scurrying about. Although hiking Ithaca every year we encounter big arse millipedes camped out on big chunks of glacier rock trying to keep cool. I mean like 6"-7" long. Like something out of an Indiana Jones movie.
  6. 9mm would be a little light. Look into the Glock 10mm. While researching .44 hunting ammo I saw a bunch of 10 mm too.
  7. This Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 with 7.5" barrel will see the deer woods this year. Nics check approved today , get it on permit tomorrow and shooting it Thursday
  8. as long as auto pistol barrel less than 8" up to 10 &1 I believe
  9. 2012_taco. Nice stats. 3 + yr old bird for sure. Nice shed finds and live deer spottings. Sounds like you may also have a good deer season on the horizon.
  10. You can have my share ????
  11. Best I could do at gas station in the hills of the boonies on way home from hunting.
  12. Way to keep at her. NCAA basketball buzzer beater all over again. Nice job !
  13. Bill , It's 82 degrees out and way too warm for us all to wearing hip boots for the $hit you're shoveling. Do you have a friend or neighbor who has a smartphone who you could borrow to post pics ?! We'd like to see pics of a possible NYS record bird. Just askin. Just think if you wouldn't have "stung " that other bird you wouldn't have had this chance. Crazy how things work ain't it.
  14. On the way out of the turkey woods I spotted this chuck rumbling thru the field. Made a great shot with Beretta 92 9mm with Speer Gold Dot. He crumbled pretty good.
  15. Tis also a rap. Time for new line on the rod n reel. It's been fun reading this thread this year. Congrats to all who prevailed. Even if we didn't we learned a great deal and saw and heard some neat things. Til next year you wiley turkey ..
  16. I've got a pack of coyotes howling , baying and yipping at about 300 yards. Distant birds touching off. All I want is one in my zip code to play with today
  17. Day 19 this year. 1710 aporoximate miles traveled Can't say I ever gave up. So nobody can take that away from me. So I guess I get an A for effort and will be marinating both tags in oj and Italian dressing. It should only take 1 or 2 strips of bacon to wrap them in before putting them on the smoker. Unless ..... That broken clock tells the right time today and I get on a bird. Good luck everyone and hope you get on a hot bird.
  18. Digging this beer lately
  19. Biz , I guess we all missed our invite?
  20. add a stick of gum and MacGyver could make some pretty sweet stuff
  21. Girls and I went down there today. Checked out Arboria luminarium It's an inflatable maze with light and music inside. Actually pretty neat. Took the bike ferry from outer harbor to inner harbor Checked out the naval ships , sub and planes. Area was quite active today as war memorials being visited General Mills but we didn't smell Cheerios today as usual. Pretty impressed on how they've built up the area. Someone had some serious kite action going on.
