  1. It's green plastic fencing with about 1 inch holes. Garden is raised on 4 x 4's so I anchored fencing to the bottom and used U stakes so they couldn't crawl under. Never thinking they'd chew holes thru it. Guess I have to redo with chicken wire, although if they use wire snips I'm going to be pizzed !
  2. One could present grinners that look that appealing and appetizing but I ain't eating them. I'll feed the chucks Stingers instead.
  3. anyone else seeing a disturbing amount of bunnies around. Lil' B's decimated 4 18" jalapeno pepper plants overnight. Got 20 or so sugar snap peas over the week. broccoli plants gone. Had six in our yard last week, and a small yard. They munched copious ammounts of my wife's flowers $$$ too. Veggie garden has green plastic fencing all around it. Staked down so they can't get under. Noticed this morning they chewed an entrance and exit hole in the fencing. Game on varmints. Calling in Bill Murray (Caddyshack) Just pizzes me off. Tilled, bought plants, planted, black weedproof tarping, fenced, hours of weeding and watering. Poof !! Gone.
  4. When now 12 year old daughter goes on her first date Mamma is going to learn how to clean guns that day. Safe emptied, strewn all over floor when boy comes into pick her up I would think he'll get the idea.
  5. Do you know the guy ? His initials J. D per chance?
  6. Nice video. Nice birds Hope that thumbhole shotgun is registered : )
  7. Used to have a Bushnell red dot on my old turkey set up. With dedicated 1187 SPT I put a Bushnell circle x on it. Mounted via a B Square mount. It's never come loose and I like the idea of not having to worry about the battery dying out at the least unoppurtune time . Just my .02
  8. Called it a day. Too hot for birds to hit field mode IMO. Worked the hardwoods and creek on the way out. Nada peep from good ole Tom today. Looks like only 1 bird this year as I have to work tomorrow. Sucks the season is over ! Feel like my dog died. Great pic deer passion !
  9. I double gobbled followed by excited hen. Heck I wanted to gobble myself. Tried purrs, clucks and 3 note yelps. Pulling out all the stops now. Haven't heard nor even seen a woodpecker today. Fox squirrel is it

  11. Nary a turkey sound and the winds picking up. Far from what I had hoped for. Not looking like a second tag punched this year. Daughter is soundly sleeping next to me lol.
  12. http://forums.bowsite.com/tf/bgforums/thread-print.cfm?threadid=404102&forum=14 Interesting thread
  13. Snakes don't bother me a bit. Although while in HS I was trapping muskrats out of a beaver swamp and saw the biggest snake I've ever seen around here, a huge water snake. I avoided that one. Spiders give me the willies but I just side step around them. while in a Disney water park a few years back all the workers were scurrying about. A 18-24" snake was slithering around the lockers. They were panicking. I asked "is it poisonous ?" they said no. I said ' I'll move it for you. They said I'm sorry sir but guests are not allowed to handle any wildlife. My then 10 year daughter says to them " want me to pick it up for you? " lol. They managed to pick it up with those garbage picking up tongs and carry it off to safety. Come to think of it I haven't seen any red belly racers around in a very long time around here
  14. Been out May 1.2.3.5-7.10.and 25th now. Opening day had 3-5 jakes ripping on roost. those jakes were the only gobbling until the 10th when I killed a nice 2 year old. Years past I could hear 4-5 adults ripping on the 70 acres I hunt. Now I think I shot the only adult bird in that woods . There's been usual birds touching off on other mountain . Buddy just said trappers will only be allowed 1 fisher where the season is open this upcoming season.looks like birds will take more of a beating due to fishers. Years past I would hear a grouse or two drumming, this year not a one. winter time I cut a lot of coyote tracks in the snow as well. Even though they hunt them with dogs out that way the population is still striving . Saturday is out last hurrah. Hoping at least to hear a gobble on roost to get the blood pumping and the hopes up
  15. I've never found a one, but then again I'm still looking for my Easter basket too. Nice finds. Keep us posted on how they fair.
  16. Nice day to be sitting in the woods with my daughter. Gobbles mile away on other mountain. Nothing close yet. Grinners took a beating on the road last night. Saw very new born fawn and mama. Daughter loved it. Wobbly legged little thing. Enjoy the woods this morning folks

  19. Glad you enjoyed the turkey woods this spring. Hopefully you learned a lot. I learn or see something every time out there. And glad you get my quote I post awhile back. After getting a bird on Mother's day daughter can finally go out with me again tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing what over 2 weeks did to the greenery.
  20. Imo put the calls down for a bit. They'll remember you and area you were in. Work em in a little while and let curiosity get the best of them. Sounds like some action out there today. Brother had hen beat the crud out of his decoy this morning. I'm working so you guys enjoy the woods for me today
