  1. Been shoveling for 12.5 hours now with the mrs. Little over half our driveway done. My deer carrier is buried. Easy 5 feet and still coming with nasty winds. 70" forecasted I just heard. I work ten minute drive from here. They got 3 inches. Ok , quick venison burger, with goat cheese , franks red hot sweet chili sauce with fried jalapeños in me. Back to the shovel. Be safe everyone
  2. 4 easy feet here in lancaster. Still coming. Snowblower is useless. Been shoveling since 5:15 this morning. Have 25 foot by 15 section of driveway done. Only 80-90 more feet to go. There's no where to toss it. Florida room roof all shoveled. This is brutal
  3. After 5 hours I'm still up in stand, seen nothing and it's still snow globe like. Beats s good day at work
  4. 9h here. Feel like I'm in a snow globe. Few inches fell over night. Limited view with snow stuck to branches. No deer or shots heard yet. Maybe wasting my time up here today. Camo umbrella strapped to tree blocking snow from falling on me at least. This hunt maybe short lived.
  5. Awesome bear. Appreciate it even more as my buddy only primitive bow hunts and i know how tough that is ! Dumb question : where does a bear that size or any size hibernate for the winter in NY ?
  6. Shot a nice doe with the ML yesterday. Just love the way this gun feels in my hands. Believe thats either 9 or 10 with the muzzle stuffer. Bad part is no "empty " to put on the window sill.
  7. Yesterdays opener report for 9H Heard honestly 150-200 shots echoing thru the woods by 10 am. These shots are traveling miles in sound. Nothing within a half mile of me. Saw 14 deer for me that's pretty good. No good bucks but a fat doe did come home with me. Snow and wind picked up. No shots nor deer spotted from 10 or so til 12:30 8G Brother shot a nice 8 point and counted 30 by 9 am. Went home and sat for a few afternoon hours. Saw 10 more. He had buttons sparring in front of him and other non shooters chasing does all morning.
  8. 11-15-14 Heard shots at some ungodly hour before legal shooting hours. Was in ladder stand by 6:40 . Heard hundreds of shots ringing thru the hills. Nothing immediately close. I think that's good as those deer maybe will move into my neck of the woods. Had a BB right below me for a good half hour at 8 am or so. Would foot stomp, blow, run three feet and then turn around and come back. Saw some glimpse's of big bodied deer but couldn't ID them. Doe with young fawns and some small doe. 14 deer seen. While trying to get look at what "big body deer" behind me was I looked down the hill. Huh? Where that doe come from ? Grabbed the Winchester ML off the peg ( had 1300 in my lap) About 75-80 yard shot broadside. Cheek weld, breath, crosshairs on front shoulder. squeeze. Poof of smoke goes . She runs about 15-17 yards and see and hear her crash. Upon field dressing her I found perfect heart shot. It was gone. 150 grains of 777 and 250 grain Shockwave did it's job. Decided to drag her back under stand to hunt some more. Hunted til about 12 :30 or so. No more deer seen and the shots were nil . Now the long mile drag thru the woods, swamp and creek. Snow on the ground made it a little easier but I question my thoughts of dragging 2 out by myself in one day. Asking Santa for a pack mule for Xmas. Work today but back out there tomorrow. Have one more DMP for that WMU but ideally would like to save it for Thanksgiving when my 12 year old daughter can go with. Bring on a nice buck please.
  9. I guesstimate him as being 1-2 days too old being second morning of gun season
  10. That's a guy taking out his dash grabbing gun out of truck. " didn't know it was loaded "
  11. I'd like to add an ounce and a quarter of lead.... Lightfield slug
  12. Button below me for most of morning. Saw 14 deer so far. Does with fawns , button and glimpses. Just dressed out big doe I shot with ml Hunting some more with her below my stand. It's a war zone in these hills. Perfect day to sit
  13. 9h here. Dang was it noisy coming in ! 6:45 and heard 12-15 shots already. Guys taking out their dash getting gun from truck lol. Make that 20 shots now . 18 degrees and 5 mph west wind. Good luck all
  14. winchester 1300 with Aimpoint 9000 and loaded with 2 3/4 " Lightfields but will take out Winchester ML with Bushnell Elite 3 x9x40 firefly. Loaded with 150 grains of 777 and 250 grain Shockwaves.
  15. 11-14-14 Clothes washed and in bin, car loaded and ready to roll to Eagle/Bliss tonight. Will sleep over and be in stand by 6:30 am. Toting my Winchester 1300 with Lightfields and will have my ML hanging from a peg loaded with 150 grains of 777 and 250 grain Shockwave. Looks like a decent day of 22-32 degrees with 6 mph west wind in the forecast. Hoping there's a little snow on the ground. 2 DMP's and my buck tag. Let's rock n roll.
  16. You need to show your work or no credit, just saying
  17. I've noticed I'm not getting the "quoted" box as well as some other posts of others. Just getting " " and quoted post. Hopes this makes sense
  18. Since I'm outta "likes" I LIKE every post on here. At work with a tear or two reading all these posts.
  19. I truly hope you can get him out there a day or two this season. I hope for a warm day or two for you both. Be blessed and remember all the times in the woods you've shared . I'm fortunate to still have my mom(88) and dad (90) still around. Complete wits about them, dad still drives (and well) , enters their garden in the garden walk every year. Last week he had a 6 day stint in the hospital with excrutiating pain and a shoulder infection. He really enjoyed talking about grouse/woodcock hunting with my older brothers many years ago. My brothers(2) and sisters (2) are all old enough to be my parents. Guess I was an oopsy. Siblings all moved out before I was even born. I never got to hunt with dad or brothers back in the day. Lying in the hospital bed he talked for hours about how he and one brother would send the other brother down the middle walking down hill. By the time they got down to the bottom brother would have shot half a box of shells with nothing to show. I truly wished I got to share some hunting with my dad but never did. I've learned everything I know by experiencing it on my own. Wish he was my mentor and that's how I would have learned. He's doing well now but the thought of losing him just sucks. Be thankful your dad is still around and you can share your time in the woods via chatting. That's what I have to do.
  20. My 12 year old daughter has the Shoot like a girl youth 20 gauge as well. All suited up for turkey in the spring .
  21. Awesome job young lady !! Thanks for sharing
  22. Clean barrel here. Every year checking gun on paper to make sure scope didn't get bumped it's spot on when clean so I hunt this way.
  23. Welcome, Good luck this year. My buddy is in Massena on a 5 day trapping trip from Buffalo right now. Caught 2 nice coyotes today so you've 2 less fawn killers up your way. You've got some great land up there !
