  1. I see more deer driving to and from my hunting spot so I'm going to drive my Subaru up to my stand. Heated seats are a bonus
  2. 11-10-2014 Sat dawn til 10 30 and then took long slow walk of perimeter of 70 acres I hunt. Only cut one set of tracks in few inches of snow that fallen overnight. Big tracks along rubline leading off property. Zero deer sighted. This is getting bad. 1 doe in freezer and 5 tags left. Have Monday and Tuesday left for me.
  3. 11-8-2014 Climbed up ladder stand at 6 45 am and climbed down at 4 30 pm. Saw 2 unknowns on ridge top behind a blowdown. No way to ID or ever take shot. Good thing for coffee and egg salad sammiches to keep me company all day. Yawn, boring day.
  4. Just walked permiter of 70 acres. I set of deer tracks leading off property. Good sized tracks along rub line. Only tracks I saw
  5. Eagle/Bliss. With snow on the ground decided to take nice slow stroll. Haven't cut a track yet. Quiet walking at least.
  6. Yup. White pines it is. Not so windy in here. Low canopy and dark in here. Last time I touched off a 3" slug in here my ears were ringing for hours. . A .45 and a Rambo knife seems more appropriate.
  7. 9h. 28 degrees. 18 mph winds. Snowing decently. On way in now. Hmmm, stand or dark pines along creek. Guess I'll figure it out in a few minutes.
  8. Again, best $15 ever spent. Camo umbrella to strap on tree
  9. gun was only bore sighted and never put on paper
  10. Made it all day in my stand. Only saw 2 " unknowns" Silhouetted and behind a blow down at 4 pm. Of course all the fields on the way home were holding deer.
  11. Think I'll go out for an afternoon hunt. Oh wait, I'm still in my ladder stand from 6:45 this morning. ....And not a creature was stirring , not even a mouse.
  12. Quiet out here. Haven't heard any auto loading muzzle stuffers yet Jeesh, there has to be one stupid deer out here to walk by my stand
  13. 9h here. 25 degrees. Light winds. Dark til dark if need be
  14. Easy: initial sight in when I got ML. One or two shots pre season to check gun is on One or two shots during season. Even stuffing 3 down the gun they last
  15. Hoping you're not going ML tomorrow to find out. I had to re sight when I switched from another 250 grain sabot to Shockwave 250 grain. It was 18" high and right at 50 yards. Same grain and same powder equalled huge variance
  16. Can you shoulder a gun while looking like the kid in the Christmas Story who fell down and can't get up?
  17. Used a pop up during spring turkey with my 11 year old daughter 3x. We popped it up each morning, all 3x we had deer pretty close. Not sure about when the deer get spooky after being bounced around the woods this time of year. I think every deer may react to a "fresh" popped up blind differently. And if you know your gun and how it shoots a 100 yards is ok with the shotgun. I wouldn't shoot most set ups beyond that however.
  18. One ML doe in freezer opening day and still have 5 tags and lots of room in the freezer. I'll be out with the smokepole dark til dark tomorrow for sure.
  19. Time to ask Santa for a ML to extend your season next year. I've killed equally as many deer in ML season over the years than regular season.
  20. No sense in letting one fly on a red fox. The fur will be useless with that big of a hole.
