  1. Ha, buddy shot a big buck on Wednesday, a doe Thursday, a doe Saturday and his 2 brothers small bucks on Sunday. Brother had turkeys kee kee running in his yard Wednesday, saw a sharpshinned hawk peel a cardinal off his bird feeder. Upon shoveling out my folks each birdhouse (about 6-7 of them) was holding a sparrow. One flew out an inch from my head as I roof raked. I've noticed birds hankering in hedgerows and pines. All the snow is gone now and hitting the bird feeders hard.
  2. Lancaster here. Thank you for all you did.
  3. I'm so bad trying to score a rack by looking at a picture. It's so much easier when you have the rack in your hands......... 36 D ?
  4. I'd also look into shooting some coyotes. At least on TV they look a lot easier to pile up than our eastern coyotes.
  5. Not on the tenderloin subject but anybody have venison cubesteaks? Oh my, sinfully good. Fast and hot in the cast iron skillet with a dab of butter and smidge of blk pepper topped with a piece of pepperjack cheese. Daughter and I love them
  6. Nice deer and like mentioned above, great shot !
  7. If you guys are eating heart you're missing your mark by a couple of inches with your guns
  8. Erg, blocking the road for deterring illegal activity could be dangerous IMO.
  9. *67 on the phone and your # is blocked. Make a phone call.
  10. I was going to set some rat traps tomorrow but creeks and ditches are redonkulous . 110's are tagged and ready to go
  11. Shoveled 43 hours in 4 days. No energy left and no water bed to make the motion. Looks like my daughter will remain an only child
  12. This ^ Have friend who has shipped us wild caught haddock and salmon from AK this way. It comes from Kodiak , AK so that itself adds time to the mainland of AK . It gets here still frozen and that was in summer.
  13. Cayuga and Ellicott creek are moderately high. Have seen a lot worse on both And my basement only has a trickle in the french drain. Crossing fingers for the rest of the day
  14. DEC released mountain lions got em all
  15. Built in 1912. Village of Lancaster I cleared out the storm drain in front of house of 6 feet of ice and snow last night hoping it'll help
  16. Very well may move. Come spring you'll have your answer. Would love to see a turkey try and roost in a pine. That would be a sight
  17. So with 6 plus feet of snow on the ground, high temps and rain. That water is most likely going to end up in my basement. Used to be refinished but Serv Pro took care of that two floods ago. Only french drain, no sump. My question is : have 1/4 hp submersible pump dad just bought us. Thinking flex hose vs regular garden hose. My main question : is my french drain that's connected to the sewer different drainage that the wash basin tub in the basement? Was thinking of dumping water into wash basin if different. I'll put a piece of cheesecloth or panty hose over end of hose so I don't clog wash tub drain. If water goes to same place I'll be flogging a dead horse and essentially be pumping the same water over and over. No basement windows to open to stick hose outside. I could leave sidedoor ajar and get hose outside but storm drain in front of house so again same water. Thanks in advance for any help. Just coming off 43 hours of shoveling in 4 days and don't want any more headaches. Going to put washer/dryer and chest freezer on 2 x 4" as lifts.
  18. Monday 11-17-14 Snowed pretty much all day. Didn't see a deer until about 1 :30 pm. Two unknowns snuck in behind me. With that front coming I know the deer were starting to move. Did the right thing and forewent the "go time" late afternoon hunt and got my butt home before the crap hit the fan with the weather. Not sure if I can get to my stand let alone ever get a deer out of the woods on my mile drag now.
  19. Working today. No shovel in hand, woohoo !! 43 hours in four days. Our double driveway with houses on either side with nowhere to throw it, path for dog, storm sewer dug out, our garage roof, Florida room roof, folks driveway, their house (Ranch) . I figured out I burned somewhere in the neighborhood of 20K -25K calories. Venison chili, venison burgers, venison breakfast sausage and venison chimichangas since Monday night though. I better shoot another deer or two if family is going to eat it up this quick. Now hoping for a non flooded basement. Only have french drains.
  20. Hey Red, I pass you everyday on the way to Wehrle Drive to work.
  21. Buddy shot a 200 plus pound slob 9 pointer in the heart of this snow in Lancaster Wednesday and a big doe Thursday that was getting bird dogged by another big buck. Used his daughters sled to drag them both out. Said was far from fun. Said the deer were coming for the acorns to no prevail of getting at them with 6 ' of snow on the ground.
