I'm unfamiliar with the area but sitting over sign would be my go to. I personally have had zero success on still hunting and stalking where others have lots of success. If it's state land hopefully someone will shove some deer to you. Have you found where they are bedding ? Seems like pines are hot spot for a lot of guys I know. Any good food sources they are hitting you can set up on the trails leading to them ? I think Shoo goo should fix that problem. I used some Sun patch designed for waders on my rubber boots. Found out beforehand how the trout stream I cross is really cold before patching hole.

I routinely avoid Taco Bell the night before hunting Honestly though I'll fill up the car the night before. I don't wear my outer clothing or rubber boots in drive time anyhow but I figure why take the chance of getting some on my hands. That's a distinct odor tough to get rid of. And it's one less thing I need to do before my hour drive and half hour up the hill to my stand. But you're right. Always wondered about contact from ATV's and such with oil and gas.

Every 24 hours . I'll set muskrat traps urban at dusk. Check at 11 pm or so and yank them at dawn. Nobody knows I was there either. I've pulled 11 for 13 first check and 10 for 13 in morning check. Stuffing active holes with conibears. Hit em hard and fast and get out.

Do they come baseplated and swiveled already? I modified most of my #1.75 Victors by baseplating, shortening chain, adding 2 swivels and night latching them. As soon as another deer or two end up in the freezer I'll be setting some hay sets out. Been pretty productive over the years. Not much bedding needed, good sight attraction for canines and don't freeze up on me. I forget every year to make waxed dirt .Going to sling some rat traps too. Seems like they're going to bring the most this year. Mink, beaver,coon all bottom $

Sunday buddy shot a basket rack. Its tail was partially shot off and had been shot in the arse prior too. Gangrene and a waste. Nephew shot a 3 legged doe yesterday that someone else had shot prior. Brother put down a basket rack that was gut shot for another hunter that had tracked it for 600 yards. Cmon hunters, make the shot count.....jeesh. i've never shot more than once and this year toting my ML as my primary gun. One shot,one kill. Coyotes are getting a lot of free meals from what I'm seeing and hearing.

Seeing you're from Ithaca. How many deer out there getting shot have a radio collar or whatever those things are ? We go there every year in July and all the suburban deer we see have them .

I've never seen a garage door fireplace before. Neat place to put one

when sitting in my stand I hunt without gloves. Gun in my lap and my hands in one of those muffs like quartebacks wear when its cold out ( its camo btw and not Bills colors). I have it laying over the receiver and scope. Keeps the receiver warm, scope clear and from the gun from falling to the ground. And a piece of electrical tape over the bore of my ML so the dripping crap doesn't soak my 777 pellets.
