  1. Oh c'mon. We're just pulling your leg. There was some helpful info along with the kidding You can learn a lot on these boards. Just do a little homework (AKA Google) sometimes before posting a question. I quickly came up with Sunrise/Sunset charts
  2. http://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0LEVvLtNGFU1VkANFgPxQt.;_ylu=X3oDMTByMG04Z2o2BHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDMQRjb2xvA2JmMQR2dGlkAw--/RV=2/RE=1415685486/RO=10/RU=http%3a%2f%2fwww.sunrisesunset.com%2fusa%2fNew_York.asp/RK=0/RS=Qew3DwsBEeldTp0JLXwmjMebki8- This may be of some help
  3. Forgot about those. Was too busy threading on my suppressor
  4. Cheek weld, breath, squeeze. Good luck to everyone and ditto on being safe ! PS don't forget the TP in your backpack
  5. I switch over to my Starlight night scope at about 5:15 or so and stuff the 8th-9th and 10th in my rifle magazine
  6. They sent you an extra bar as they didn't include a tree
  7. This is the first time that I haven't had off the first 5-6 days. Usually hunt Opener thru Thanksgiving. Only off Saturday then Monday with sporatic days after that. Love the cold, bring it on.
  8. Not a fan for deer and especially less of a fan for spring turkey
  9. Drove from Buffalo to Warsaw the other night on 20A the whole way. Had a bad gut feeling the whole way there and back. Luckily no deer jumped the road. Two biggest bucks I've seen were opening day on the way hunting 2 years ago. Both stand on the brakes type of deal. Does evading bucks and bucks with only one thing in mind makes em clueless right now. Be careful out there people.
  10. Don't think there are any "woods" friendly smelling foods IMO. I'll pack whatever I have as snacks and in the fridge. All about the wind
  11. I'd "like" this but I've used all my "likes" in the harvest thread
  12. Ok, dumb question but I guess I won't know unless I ask: I know most if not all scrapes have licking branches above them. Explain why bucks lick the branches.
  13. That's quite the urban hunt there If you get hungry you can order a pizza and have it delivered to your stand
  14. Is he sticking his tongue out at you 3 feet onto posted property ?
  15. A couple of friends of mine "lease for the day or weekend" a private stretch of the Salmon river. No combat fishing. Might be something to look into. IMO, no guides really needed.
  16. Last night at go time in 9F Big 6 (outside the ears) was chasing a doe. Wehrle and Harris Hill in Lancaster. Slob of a buck, looked like Shane Conlan without a neck. Watched them for awhile as did 3 other vehicles. Brother in 8G had two small bucks locked up in field in front of his house. Buddy in 9F had a nice buck in his yard with his nose to the ground this morning
  17. Eve before gun season and spring turkey season is like a kid on Xmas eve
  18. Holy crud. I just tooled around Cabela's online. 2 G $ for a Ten point Vapor. What does a reasonable crossbow cost ?
  19. Some of the best news I've read all day
  20. Flushed a woodcock yesterday in 9H. Buddy has been doing well on grouse and woodcock in Tug Hill area.
  21. Weathermen can't forecast yesterdays weather correctly !
  22. 11-4-2014 Daughter (12) and I did some scouting in 9H (Eagle) yesterday. Don't bow hunt so this is for gun season. Took my H n R single shot with some steel shot in case we kicked some ducks off the Wiscoy creek. Last week I established I am one heck of a lousy wingshooter. I went 0-2 on Woodies but did go 2-2 on sky rats (crows). Holy mother of God my arm took a beating shooting high brass 4's. No recoil pad and obviously stock is too long as I never got gun into shoulder on the swing. Biggest black and blue mark you've ever seen. Now i have two knots there. We kicked up a few woodies with no shot. Sorta glad or at least my arm is. Their are runs everywhere. A lot along the creek which I know are night trails. I had my ladder stand positioned over them years back and wasted half my season seeing nothing there. At the bend of the creek we kicked up a great blue heron about 30 feet away. It was comical watching it trying to take off. It flapped and flapped for about 30 seconds suspended about 5 feet off the water not going anywhere into the wind. It then laid down a slew of droppings and almost like it was it's nitrous button finally got airborn. We almost stepped on a woodcock, didn't try and shoot it as they're aren't a lot around so it got a pass (not that I'd hit it anyways). Found a nice 4 point shed, surprised the mice didn't get it . Apples are a little light this year. Two nice scrapes about 50 yards behind my ladderstand. Rubs were far and few between. At my stand we had a big doe traveling solo walk into about 75 yards of us. Stand is tight and secure awaiting my fat butt in it the 15th. Dang ragweed or whatever it was got the best of my allergies. Took Claritan but that didn't help. All in all a nice day to share with my daughter in the woods. She zonked in the car on the way home.
  23. Thought for sure Colonel Sanders secret recipe of herbs and spices was in there
