  1. Coffee all over my phone from this one! Well played sir! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Who let Jay hold their crow? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. By effective I mean stopping an immediate threat. If I have to shoot someone with one of my pistols I don't care if they die or not I just want them to be incapacitated as soon as possible. In my testing with my judge I don't think it will do this reliably 00 or 000 buck doesn't have the energy to penetrate far enough to consistently reach vitals. The different slugs/disk and bb loads also failed to penetrate adequately for me to consider them for carry ammo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Use what you want but the problem with your theory is that at the ranges they are effective they are basically still only 1 projectile. By effective I mean carrying enough energy to penetrate into vitals and spinal structure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Having shot my judge a bunch I have concluded that it is one of the most useless weapons made. With bird shot they loose too much juice from the short barrels to be effective at much more than spitting ranges. Even the defense ammo leave a lot to be desired as far as energy goes. At Least they shoot 45colt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Shotguns are great for shooting a spread of small shot. I've killed a bunch of deer with shotguns had a couple of custom slug guns that shot very well. When my camp in the Catskills went to rifle I was ecstatic now that Ohio is straight walled cartridge as well I will likely never use a shotgun on a deer again and I certainly won't miss it. Still have a 20ga 870 with the barrel pinned and an awesome trigger but the A Bolt went down the road. Between expensive ammo, excessive recoil and heavy guns a shotgun does absolutely nothing for me in the deer woods and I'm someone that very very rarely shoots over 50yds and is often shooting at running deer. 7. I have had a cap for every truck I have owned but only 1 was fiberglass it was an a.r.e. Seemed to be a quality product but traded it almost immediately for an aluminum. Aluminum caps are ugly but I can take them off and put them on by myself. I don't like having a cap on all the time so I'm always taking it on and off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Number of big game species a 1.5, I know there's 2 but I wouldn't shoot another bear if it was eating me. On public access I rate it a 10+. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I still have an altel contract started in 2004 I think. At that time it was called a never better plan "unlimited everything. Verizon bought them out and I have never upgraded since I started it by buying phones outright. I pay 46$ a month for 2 phones and unlimited everything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Read the above post of yours I quoted now read this. Then stop being dumb. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I'm glad you've had a change of heart, now stop talking about crap that you're ignorant about. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. You won't be very successful with your 20yd limit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Name of the game for me is to kill mature bucks my way. My way of bow hunting is still hunting in the Adirondacks. If I stand hunted I would probably limit myself to 40yds or so but with my style of hunting any shot opportunity I want to be able to capitalize on, to do that I need to be capable of shooting further ranges than the average guy in a tree stand. 14. Now I'm not saying there is anything wrong with setting a personal limit of 20yds however don't judge others that can do what you can't/won't do. I would be willing to bet that those of us that shoot year round and practice extensively at longer ranges have a higher recovery rate than the average guy that shoots a few times before season and limit themselves to shorter ranges. 15. Am I the only one who can't decipher what this says?
  16. I have shot with some very very good shooters while shooting on the Parris Island shooting team and instructed thousands of Marine's and Marine Corps recruits and I can honestly say that I don't pay any attention to breath control or trigger control when shooting freehand. When the sights are where I want them I pull the trigger. I always had to give this disclaimer before I taught the standing position because I always felt weird teaching something I didn't do. I'm sure I would shoot better if I did follow the fundamentals but I have gotten by with doing it wrong. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Older 870 police 12ga, ar15 in 5.56 and glock 17. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Haha, this exactly. You ask 100 "competent" bow hunters a question about shooting and you'll likely get 100 different answers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Bit of a drive but you can come use it any time you want! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Thanks, hard to see in the picture but there is like 16 steel target hanging at various ranges from 7-300yds. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Let's see who else will join. Moog's group in the AR15 thread gave me the idea. Let's see what you got 100yds 5shots freehand with a deer rifle. Strapped on the snow shoes and wanted to shoot a couple groups to see what I had. Here is my backyard range. Winchester model 94 30-30 Williams peep. Barnes hand loads. H&R handi rifle 30-30 4X junk bushnell scope, Barnes handloads. Just did a trigger job to this and it went from over 9lbs to down around 4 and pretty clean. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Not generous at all. We should start a new freehand 100yd group thread. If people are honest I bet you would be in the top half of the group. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. The rib is for a higher sight plane allowing better peripheral vision than a bead on the barrel it's self. The only reason it's ventilated is for weight reduction. A shotgun doesn't make enough heat in a barrel to make heat transfer an issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I run an 8ft set of disks on a 50hp 4wd tractor. You're on drugs if you think a wheeler will do it. EDIT- see your getting a tractor disregard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. That's a damn fine freehand target. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
