Birds are hammering this morning let’s see where they head from their perch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Good luck everyone. I sat on the deck drinking some beers after dinner and heard gobbles in every direction. Not sure where I’ll head in the morning but I’ll probably head towards the 4yr old’s gobble “bill reference” but seriously bird behind the house sounds like an old boy I’ll probably chase him until I can lay on eyes on him. Be safe and keep your head down until you see em flopping! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Went outside this morning at 5:10 hotter at my mailbox and had 5-6 birds gobbling their heads off. Walked out back and had a bird gobbling his head off right behind the house and another 3 or 4 gobbling our in my back woodlot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think it’s going to be a very good year for the callers this year, for the last 5 or 6 years season started a couple weeks late this year I think season is opening right in the beginning of peak breeding. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was at a gun show a couple years ago and bought 500 new brass for 325wsm. Don’t own one but I had a 350wsm wildcat build on my mind and had a good idea I wouldn’t come across brass again so I bought what they had at .50$ a piece. 325wsm suffers from the too close syndrome and it’s not a 30cal, 8mm’s have never done well in the us. Americans don’t tend to like anything over 30cal even the 338’s aren’t very popular. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Who’s putting a bird to bed Monday night ?

Not me, I found some birds the other day. They’ll be close enough. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Who’s heading out with their bow?
Buckmaster7600 replied to Buckmaster7600's topic in Turkey Hunting
Oh it’s a challenge for sure! Took me 3 seasons to finally get one with the bow with no blind running and gunning. I have killed about a dozen spring birds with the bow now I have learned a lot and there is definitely some tricks I have learned along the way. The pucker factor of having birds close and then having to draw is exhilarating for sure! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I’m looking forward to finally being able to turkey hunt with my bow after 2 springs recovering from shoulder surgeries. I can’t wait! Shooting a turkey with a bow with no blind is by far the most difficult turkey hunting I have found and by far the most fun way to hunt them that I have found. Who else is toting their bows this year? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes! You saved me a trip to the truck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

From the antlers or meat thread , do you like venison
Buckmaster7600 replied to rob-c's topic in Deer Hunting
Everyone keeps talking about the mishandling of venison causing people not to like it the same can be said for beef. For those that pick venison over beef how many have eaten properly raised, butchered and aged beef? I would put my grass fed angus crosses over any store bought beef any day. Most store bought beef is forced feed “grains and corn to put fat on for market that doesn’t help the taste at all! That being said when I’m butchering a deer for me I age it in our walk in or barn if temps are good and most people that eat it says it’s the best they have ever had. I eat it but it’s far from my favorite! I would rather have a steak or burger from my grass fed angus 10-1 over venison any day! Deer and turkeys are way more fun to kill than eat but I eat what I kill and don’t give away. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I ran to 3 properties this evening found gobblers on all 3. Gonna hit a few more tomorrow. Should be a good quick year for me! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don’t think either one is smart, they both have an amazing survival instinct. I have tracked mature bucks for hundreds if not thousands of miles and it still to this day blows my mind how elusive a mature buck can be. I don’t have a clue what sex is smarter but I can say does are a lot easier to kill even in areas I have hunted with a very even buck to doe rations. Does that make does dumber? Who knows! Fences have certainly given me fits but the one thing I have yet to do is get a turkey to fly across water. My favorite turkey hunt was 15+ years ago when I brought my girlfriend at the time uncle turkey hunting for the first time. Had the hottest bird I have ever hunted in my life 80yds from us on the other side of a creek. After half an hr and 1000 gobbles I told him we have to swim the creek he said hell no I said ok I will. Stripped swam across crawled up the bank put my shirt on made 1 put and the bird ran to me and I killed him at 5 yds in my underwear. He was beyond pissed, that is the 2nd biggest bird I have killed. 10mph wind to cover my movement and sunny, I would take some rain but the woods will be wet from the rain he day before. I’ll have no excuses if I don’t have a dead bird opening day! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m not going to make up stats but I will say for the most part you’re correct. If wolk isn’t full of sh!t I think he is in the very small minority. Are there people out there that are happy killing a buck? Hell yes and good for them! I’m glad we live in a state that makes it very easy for them. That being said a very large percentage of the spike horn killers wish their bucks had a bigger rack! Why people choose to shoot small bucks is no worry to me, I want people to hunt for whatever reason makes them happy. Hell to be honest I wish a lot of the kill the first buck they see hunters were a lot better hunters because it would get them out the woods sooner. I know that’s a selfish thing to say but it’s the truth. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Take me out of the undecided and put me in the antlers category. I would rather eat beef and small bucks and does don’t give me the challenge I live for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Never had a problem calling birds up hill or getting them to cross a road. Fences and streams are a different story! Your calling has to reflect the toms temperature. If he’s hott you gotta make him hotter by being aggressive. I’m a firm believer that the whiter a toms head gets the dumber they get. If the toms are henned some soft calling until 8:30-9 then get excited for a bit and see if you can’t fire one up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Neither, I hunt for the challenge. Inches mean nothing and I would rather eat beef. I have hunted Ohio and shot some dandy’s and got bored real quick! I like killing critters my way on my terms usually the hardest way possible. That’s why next week I’ll be chasing turkeys with no calls and no blind with a bow, if I shoot a Jake or a tom I don’t give a crap because I haven’t found a tougher way to kill turkeys. Hate hearing this! I took my sport bike out for a quick rip this afternoon, roads are still a little dirty to really ride it but it felt good to be on 2 wheels. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
