He and I just got in screaming match because I won't help him drag it because it's on posted property I don't have permission to be on, I'm not even mad anymore I'm just ready to get him and this deer home so I can go back to hunting Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

And the saga continues, he found him after I told him to stay put and he tells me where he is and he is not even close to where he was supposed to be and I'm not even sure he is on the property I have permission to be on. The spot I told him to go is in the dead center of a 800 acre parcel with a gravel road that leads him exactly to the spot. This is what I get for trying to be nice, he has a disabled son so he doesn't get to hunt much so I tried to be nice and help him out. THIS IS THE LAST TIME I WILL EVER OFFER TO BRING SOMEONE HUNTING! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So I did something I almost never do today and I brought a guy from work with me to one of the farms I have permission to hunt, I explained to him over and over that we don't shoot small bucks and not to shoot anything unless it's an 8 or has a 15" spread. Well a couple minutes ago I hear a shot and I get a text "I shot but it was along ways away, it was a buck but I don't know how big" this is exactly why I don't do this, maybe in another 5 or 10 years I'll give it another try Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's pouring here, I'm glad I have my umbrella, had to come home from camp last night for some family stuff so I'm hunting around home for a couple days. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Never, just a safety precaution. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Alright, you're good, 1 thing I do to all my bases is use a paint pen and make a line on all the screws to easily tell if they are loose. Also I never use a mount that only has 1 screw on the strap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Tightened down before or after you shot? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

From someone who hates sitting I love wind, the more the merrier "within reason" I would say under 35mph I'm hunting, that is when it gets sketchy with trees and limbs breaking Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What a day in the ADKS, finally some rut activity! I found an area with a hot doe and saw 4 bucks in a half hr. Me being too picky cost me a real big buck. But oh well snow this week and 2 more weeks of vaca I'll have another chance to kill him. This is a spike horn that I'm pretty sure has never saw a human before

question on tree stand safety harnesses
Buckmaster7600 replied to goosifer's topic in General Hunting
Mine stays with me. I don't like leaving straps out in the weather and I have way to many stands to have one in each tree. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
You have a 100% better chance of killing a deer that you see as to the ones you don't. There is only 1 way to get better at still hunting and it's to do it and mess up a bunch. If I had a dollar for every deer I jumped when still hunting I would be hunting on my own farm in Iowa. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Having saw that many deer if you're not seeing them in the stand why not get down and do some still hunting? You know the deer are there it's just a matter of finding them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

A trick to ensuring that the the cocking string is in the same spot every time is to shorten your cocking rope an inch or 2 so you have to pull up on the string to get the second one on. This puts the string at an angle forcing the clips to stay right to the rail. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I spay half a can into my can of chew and spit all over. Tastes like piss but it sure does work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was once told by a self proclaimed gun expert at a gun shop that " you sight in a 270 dead on at 25yds and it shoots so fast you will be dead on out past 300yds" me personally I like 1-2" high at 100yds. Like Pygmy said I don't get overly scientific with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Remington 7600 35whelen or my tikka t3 35whelen both shooting Barnes 225 tsx. If I get bored with them I might carry one of my 44mag carbines or my new to me remington model 14 in 35 rem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm heading up tomorrow. I have 21 days off and don't know how many I will spend up there. It's warm and no snow so it's hard for me to stay interested in the big woods but time will tell, good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
