Trump Explained
philoshop replied to fasteddie's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Trump has already displayed a good deal of leadership just with his candidacy. Example: He's started taking apart 'political correctness', which has stifled the free exchange of ideas in this country for a couple of decades now. This alone is considered a big win for many of us. The term "illegal aliens" is still considered hurtful by those on the left, but it's becoming acceptable again to thinking people because it's an effective descriptor that needs to be used. Thank you Mr. Trump. -

As much as I like the slogan "Make America Great Again", I also like "America Won't be Europe". -

So long as it makes you feel better, you're certainly free to believe that's what actually happened. -

'Failure to obey' is considered an offense punishable by death. Got it. "Because [federal] agents create crime, rather than merely detect it, they hold the power to create the appearance of guilt... Many of the values reflected in our Constitution are directly threatened by these operations." -1984 report, US House Subcommittee on Civil & Constitutional Rights Ironic that this government assessment of itself was from 1984. Orwell smiles. -
If it was an exact science, the benchrest folks would have quit a long time ago. It's also an art, and that requires some passion. That's what keeps it interesting.

Obama sends out a twitter message to a country where only 5% of the citizens have an internet connection. Talk about being out of touch with reality. -

Supreme Court Justice Appointment

Garland is considered a "moderate". What that means in DC today is that he's not likely to fall completely off the left side of his chair with every decision. An acquaintance of mine nailed the strategy for this guy: Hold the hearings for the next 8 months to keep the Liberals from squawking about 'obstructionism', then either reject or appoint based on who wins the presidential election. -

A US citizen? No. (Although requirements for US citizenship have been extremely lax of late.) Someone entering this country from an other country that is known to have views hostile to the US? Yes, absolutely. If an immigrant's 'religion' is fundamentally based on destroying the very concept of this country, that's something we need to keep in mind as they work to gain citizenship. Anyone unwilling to renounce that particular view has no place in our country. We're the greatest nation on this planet, and we need to stay that way. -

I'm not hateful, racist, or bigoted (in the way you're using the term). I'm also not misogynistic, xenophobic, homophobic, or paranoid. I'm not religious either, but I do absolutely follow the Golden Rule in the course of day-to-day life. I'm an American and a patriot. I absolutely believe in my country and I believe that we are, in many/most ways, exceptional. My anger stems from the fact that I'm often labeled as all of the above simply because of my patriotism, and the fact that the term "American Patriot" has somehow managed to become a slur and an epithet. My tolerance reached its end when my President started traveling the world to apologize for my country's very existence. I could expand on this if necessary. -

An internet 'friend' of mine nailed it precisely: This is a game of "liars poker", and the Democrats are better at it. -
I haven't seen anything, but the NYS election website shows the seat as vacant??? If someone more local to the district has info, that would be good.

Garland is considered a 'moderate'. But he's still a moderate Liberal. He was appointed to the Federal bench by Bill Clinton, and he's now being nominated by Obama. Need I say more? -

The 'silent majority' are done with the GOP. It is history, it is toast, and it's been complicit with the Uniparty ideology for far too long. The Republican Party is over. Turn the page. -
I don't partake of the traditional festivities, but I'll gladly hoist a beer for just about anything.

I helped a neighbor set up the laser on his Bodyguard a couple years ago. It's nice to be able to hit something when it's too dark to see even the gun, let alone the sights. It was pitch black on my range when we finished and 4" groups at 12' were still pretty normal. I was impressed. The laser is fussy to set up, but it can be done. It's a point-and-shoot gun to begin with, and it's almost silly to even put sights on it. -

Trump Explained

It was a landslide victory for Trump in Florida. The most diverse state in this country is Florida. From the farmers in the north to the uber-rich in the gated communities along the coasts, and from the Hispanics in the center to the Latinos in the south and all the transplants in between, Florida is a microcosm of the country. Trump overwhelmingly took it all, save for Miami-Dade. Explain to me how Trump wasn't on the ballot.
