  1. A 100% income tax on every person and every corporation in the US earning more than $250k per year wouldn't even fund the current Federal government through June. What's next?
  2. Maybe HNY can set up a committee to review posts for political content. Make the site more like Facebook and Twitter, ya know. [sarcasm off]
  3. I respect your decision, but I'll fight it out here for a while. Wish I still had a bike.
  4. Everything in this state and this country is political. Ignore the politics and you ignore the reality. Dismiss the politics and you concede your voice. Stifle the discussion of politics and you will eventually lose everything this site is about. Awareness is only painful to a closed mind, but it's essential to our future. *The use of "You" and "Your" are not directed to any specific person. If the symptoms of a reality check last more than four hours, you're welcome.
  5. From the article above (Obergefell was the recent gay marriage case): "Calling the Court a “threat to American democracy,” Justice Scalia wrote in his Obergefell dissent, “t is not of special importance to me what the law says about marriage. It is of overwhelming importance, however, who it is that rules me. Today’s decree says that my Ruler, and the Ruler of 320 million Americans coast-to-coast, is a majority of the nine lawyers on the Supreme Court.” We won’t talk the court out of its power-mad, usurpative bent. Only power negates power. It’s time to stop acting like impotent fools and start showing the Court how impotent it really is."
  6. Sometimes it's a "need to control others" as you say, and sometimes it's a flat-out 'superiority complex'. A lot of people walk into a situation and say, "That's not the way I do it, so you're wrong."
  7. The slug gun I used for almost forty years is an Ithaca model 37 Deerslayer with the "intermediate eye relief" scope mounted on the barrel. With the 2x Leupold and both eyes open I was pretty good at shooting skeet with it considering the choke on the smooth-bore slug barrel. Very quick target acquisition is crucial, and a scope that's mounted 2 1/2" above the bore isn't going to work without a stock that's made for it. Modern scopes with decent caps are not likely to ever fog up to the point where they're unusable. Keep it at the low end of magnification (1x to 2x) and make sure the stock fits.
  8. I hope not. Now I'm thinking about spam... https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?p=monty+python+spam&ei=UTF-8&hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-001
  9. Who is actually derailing those threads?
  10. I don't agree, on a blanket basis, with anything that's posted until I give it thought. I tend to think for myself. I have no desire to see anyone censored. Clean up the personal attack crap or move on. 'nuff said.
  11. An interesting article on the powers of the SCOTUS. http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2016/02/did_justice_scalia_already_give_us_the_solution_to_the_problem_of_filling_his_seat.html I guess it's a long article for those with a short attention span, but it's a good read.
  12. It may not be about your particular politics, but it is most assuredly 'about politics'.
  13. At the same time, isn't it the mantra of the unions that there is 'power in numbers'? There seems to be something of a contradiction here. FWIW I rode for many years, and I miss it.
  14. This has turned from the topic of censoring certain individuals who are sometimes disruptive, to censoring the entire site? Interesting. If the Political section is somehow seen to be a 'problem', make it password-protected: Newcomers and the general public won't see it, and people who want to ignore it won't see it.
  15. Gun owners in this country aren't completely screwed yet, but we are bent over with our pants around our ankles. It's going to take a concerted effort to prevent the final act, and the willful ignorance around this site with regard to the importance of politics floors me. I have a friend in Australia who's a rancher. The only way he was allowed by the government to keep his guns was that he could prove they were necessary to support his way of life as a rancher. Recreational hunting is not considered a "need" in Australia and the citizens have been disarmed. This is the model of "common sense gun control" being held forth by much of the Left in the US.
  16. Ha ha ha!...Tell him no more hot meals for dinner until it's fixed. ;-]
  17. It would be nice if the members would censor themselves, like civil adults are generally expected to do. Argue against the post, not the person who posted it.
  18. The debates are no longer debates at all. They've become entertainment shows put on by the media to generate advertising revenue.
  19. I think I might have gotten some "bad" gas at a little out-of-the-way country store. Might have had some water in it. ETA: The diesel tractor I used to jump the van started right up.
  20. The fuel system in my van is frozen, lines and/or injectors I believe. I ran the battery down trying to get it to fire yesterday morning. The sun was shining so I opened the hood and put a black tarp over the engine compartment hoping it would thaw out. No such luck. I don't need to be anywhere for a couple of days so it's not a big deal, except that I'm out of beer. Temperature is supposed to be around freezing tomorrow, so I'll see if that helps.
  21. Obama is certainly going to try to slip someone in, but the senate can stop it. McConnell has said he would fight to prevent it, but his track record is not good when it comes to opposing Obama. A recess appointment is the likely scenario but that's not permanent. If Obama can install another anti-constitutional justice we could see a rewrite of the 2nd amendment, and it won't be pretty for the country as we know it.
  22. Sincere condolences to his family, friends, and fellow countrymen. He served well and he will be missed. We're going to see very soon what the Republican side of Capitol Hill is really made of when the current President attempts to replace Justice Scalia. Another Progressive anti-Constitutionalist on the bench will not bode well for the future of our Republic. There are a number of very important cases scheduled to be heard before the next President is sworn in, most having to do with the legality of certain Executive Orders, and I don't think they can even proceed without a full bench. The Presidential election was going to make the next nine months a bumpy road in itself. This is going to make it a nightmare.
