  1. My big purge came after my house in Buffalo was broken into and ransacked/looted after I'd been there for 20 years. That was 10 years ago. Walking through my belongings strewn ankle deep throughout the house, I decided pretty quickly what really mattered to me and packed a few things that hadn't been stolen. Mostly books. The guy I sold the house to for pennies on the dollar said he would take care of the rest, so I didn't have a big bill for a dumpster. I try now to deal with potential accumulation before it becomes actual accumulation.
  2. In it's 52'nd year! Memorial Day weekend every year since 1964. I don't fish much any more, but I live a half mile down the road from one of the premier gathering places that specializes in people telling 'fish stories'. Vonnie's Boathouse, across the road from Roy's Marina. I stopped in for lunch today and bumped into a few out-of-town pro's doing some pre-derby recon. Once we got past the talk of "runnin' shwanger-doodles at 90 and trailin' glitter on the train" we had a nice lunch and lots of laughs. In the fall it's leaf-peepers and winers. I like the fisherman a lot more. Does anyone here haul-in for this bit of americana?
  3. Can't say that I have. Mine is 5 or 6 years old, though.
  4. Nice photo! I know what you mean about the tractor/mower thing though. For some reason a lot of fawns are dropped in vineyards and orchards, and they're almost invisible when your primary focus has to be toward the edge.
  5. I have the 4 x 32 Bugbuster on one of my .22's. A sweet little scope for the money.
  6. The belief in a benevolent and all-powerful big government is Marxism. Marxist ideology struggled for almost 70 years to gain a following among the US citizenry. It started to take root in the mid-1960's as public education shifted to youth indoctrination. The Department of Education was created in 1979 by Carter and gave the federal government oversight and control of the entire system. Public awareness of current events and their consequences has suffered horribly since then, and it's not a coincidence. John D. Rockefeller said in the late 1920's: "I don't want a nation of thinkers. I want a nation of workers." He's getting his wish.
  7. Sorry to see you go my friend. All the best to you.
  8. Take a look at "Leapers/UTG". OpticsPlanet has them. Compact or full size, and decent quality for a .22 plinker.
  9. Nice job! And congratulations to your young friend Reed!
  10. Never open an unfiltered e-mail link.
  11. T/C Contender with a JD Jones 10" barrel in .44 mag. 2x Leupold on top. Well over 20 years now.
  12. Destroy the basis of America, so that you can rebuild it in your own image. I've seen that before, in history. Never Hillary.
  13. Here's the original statement... https://youtu.be/ksIXqxpQNt0
  14. It's being buried, of course... https://youtu.be/WVI2yBIt5HQ
  15. The video of her discussion with that coal miner is not at my fingertips. I'll find it and post it. It was a disgusting display.
  16. ...assimilation, peace, and goodwill is the goal. http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/sheldon-silver-sentenced-12/2016/05/03/id/727013/ Or maybe it's annihilation, warfare, and a quest for dominance.
  17. I'll go on record as saying: "That will never happen." That path didn't work for Rudy Giuliani, and it most certainly won't work for Bharara.
  18. Fishing from a traditional kayak can be a lot of fun, but it's definitely a challenge. You're so low on the water that there is almost no visibility when it comes to submerged casting targets likes stumps, brush, or weed edges. A sit-on-top type of kayak would seem the best for fishing...but at the same time, twisting around and touching off a 12 Ga while duck hunting from that sit-on-top boat might end up with you swimming. Could be a bad day. I used to build kayaks and canoes, but I haven't kept up with the industry over the last 15 years. Maybe there's a good compromise out there now. If not, I'd go for a short and wide canoe with a seat at gunwhale level for fishing, and put a cushion right on the bottom to keep my butt dry when duck hunting. It'll be a nightmare in open water, but that's not where you plan on going. As far as transport: pretty boats, racing boats, and anything over 16' went on top into custom-made carriers, everything else was strapped into the 8' bed of the pickup with the tailgate down. I hope this helps a little, and I'd like to hear more about what you find.
  19. An update: Sheldon Silver was sentenced yesterday to 12 years in prison...and he'll lose a bunch of cash as well. http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/sheldon-silver-sentenced-12/2016/05/03/id/727013/ I would hope this sends a pretty strong message to the upper echelons of power in NYS, and maybe even to the electorate that continually votes these kinds of criminals into office. With respect to political corruption, we're an entire state that's been following the Chicago model. Detroit did that as well, and it obviously hasn't worked out well for them. I don't want to live in the State of New Detroit.
  20. I fully realize that the the left-leaners won't care: http://www.breitbart.com/hillary-clinton/2016/05/01/one-year-silence-hillary-clinton-uranium-deal/ A "right wing" author, fully corroborated by a "left wing" newspaper. It's clearly not a partisan issue. "'splain it to me Lucy". Who decides at what point 'anti-government' activities become a crime?
  21. You're not even a competent troll, buddy. I think Disney is hiring.
  22. If spring season wasn't half days, think of what we'd be missing. Hilarious!
