    F&S

They must have a farmyard full of doe-ho's.
  2. Drinking beer, checking the internet, and writing.
  3. I've never worked on an SR so I'm talking in generalities here. It may need an even lighter (or shorter) recoil spring. The bolt stop will get pounded if you continue to shoot the high-velocity rounds through it though. Maybe polish the bolt and the guides/rails? If it's relatively new, it may just need a few hundred break-in rounds to smooth out some rough edges? If the case is fully clearing the breach but not ejecting, it may be an issue with the extractor mechanics? But a lighter/shorter spring would probably compensate for this. Keep the breach, chamber and throat clean. A bent Q-tip with a little solvent has made problems disappear for me on a number of occasions with RF guns. Hope this helps.
  4. I believe you can change the recoil spring, or lighten up the factory one. It will cycle better with the lighter loads. SOP with the 10/22's and Mark I/II/III"s for anything like serious target work with subsonic ammunition.
  5. You handled it well. Damaging a rock wall and vegetation on land not your own is uncool. I carry ziplock baggies and business cards for situations like this. If they want their stands back, they had better have a damned good explanation for their behavior.
  6. It's still legal in NYS. As long as it's not a registered firearm: ie, a handgun or a newly-classified "assault" rifle.
  7. I don't know how many times I've shut off a chainsaw or log splitter and looked up to see a group of curious deer watching me. Even if the development radically changes a key part of their habitat, they'll quickly work around it.
  8. If the corn is still standing when you hunt it might provide a little more 'sanctuary' cover. Once it's cut there is little difference between corn and beans. If you saw deer after the corn was cut last year you'll probably see deer again whether the beans are cut or not. I wouldn't change anything.
  9. A day in the woods is still a good day.
  10. The one thing I keep hearing about 10 is the amount of data mining it's capable of. Good for Microsoft, not so good for privacy. You can 'opt out' of a lot of it but you'll have to spend the time physically doing it. I'll stick with 7 until its no longer supported.
  11. I rely heavily on my ears when hunting. Even cut ear holes in my head covering. I had an ear infection for part of last year's gun season and couldn't hear very much out of one ear. It was difficult to locate the source of a sound with only one ear. Very strange feeling. This year I'm dealing with cataracts in my shooting eye. It's like looking through an ice cube. If I had a choice I'd take last year's ear infection. ;-]
  12. The doe I got last year completely ignored my blackberry flavored juice. ;- )
  13. Clicked 'em both. Honestly, I was drawn to yours first. You have a good eye for composition my friend.
  14. Tax-exempt cigs from the Indians were close to $300 a month for me a year ago. (My mortgage is about that). I make my own juice and build my own coils now for about $5 a month. It's a no-brainer. A little nicotine during the day helps me focus when I'm working because I don't drink coffee, and the flavors are just oh-so-good. Now, if we can just keep the government from taking it away from us.... For anyone who cares here's a a link to a petition that might help: vapingpetition.com
  15. Mo' money in my pocket, and mo' air in my lungs! 422 days smoke-free.
  16. Good for you gfdeputy2! I wish you all the best.
  17. We still don't know if it was racially-motivated or if it was an attack on the uniform. Killing because of a difference in uniform is what happens in war.
  18. You do have eye for photographic detail wooly ;- )
  19. Nice side-by-side comparison. Thanks. It's the same with most products today, because for most people price is the bottom line and that's what drives the manufacturers. I have construction tools that have been with me for almost 40 years that still work great. A few years is all I can expect out of most anything I buy now regardless of the price.
  20. That's it, in a nutshell.
  21. Welcome to the forum jackULL! Best of luck to you this season.
  22. Looks like he got into some fermented berries or sumtin'. My 82 yo neighbor woke up to a ruckus in his back yard a couple of years ago. There was a yearling spike doing battle with his grill. Stan grabbed a piece of 2x4 lumber to chase it away but he slipped and fell going out his back door. He called me and I ran over to make sure he (my neighbor) was ok. I shooed the deer away from his now-trashed grill and we sat on his back deck for twenty minutes laughing and watching that animal stagger around like it was Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras. His grill was about 20 feet from a plum tree with lots of over-ripe fruit on the ground.
