  1. Same here, in both cases. I'm always wearing the pack when I'm moving, and no way am I going to intentionally poke holes through my rain gear.
  2. I agree with everything except the first sentence. ;- ) If a child is not taught at an early age to not behave like an azz, they will likely grow up to be an azz, because in their minds it's what's right for them. It satisfies their needs. Babies can be excused because for them it is, in fact, all about them and their needs, but once the diaper comes off the kid has to know the difference between right and wrong, and that needs to be taught. It's not being taught by a lot of the parents today, and certainly not by the current education system.
  3. Young people are no longer being taught to distinguish right from wrong.
  4. Internet has been a little 'squirrely' all day for a lot of people around the country. No idea why.
  5. 1. Spend a lot of time practicing your shooting skills. No matter what you're carrying. 2. Spend a lot of time in the woods learning about the animals. Without the second you probably won't see anything to shoot at, and without the first you won't be able to hit whatever you're hunting for.
  6. The key to hunting public land is the same as the key to hunting private land: know the animal, and know how to put yourself in a position to take that animal. ;- )
  7. Most of the weather-guessers can't even get the previous day's recap right.
  8. I refuse to click on anything 'Facebook'. For me, nothing good can possibly come of that.
  9. Ya can't find another fox? Bad joke, sorry ;- )
  10. Welcome to the forum, Core! Best of luck to you this season.
  11. The strap snap on my shoulder holster is pretty loud, so I don't normally use it. My Contender has gone swimming without me a couple of times, and has been know to leap from tree stands without permission.
  12. I've managed to dodge everything so far this morning. The weather radar doesn't look good for the afternoon though, and the wind is picking up. Be safe.
  13. Plenty of positives and negatives for both choices. If you're comfortable with being up in a tree, and with shooting from there, it's a good way to see more game and keep your scent and movements from being detected. Being up in a tree keeps you anchored to a spot as well. If I'm in a ground blind I'll get antsy and probably start moving by 9:00 or 9:30. I've shot a lot of deer between 10 and noon just because it wasn't easy to walk away from the tree stand. ;- ) Whichever you choose, practice shooting from it before the hunt! You have to be very confident that you can make the shot. You owe it to the animal, and to yourself. Best of luck to you this season.
  14. Sorry to hear that, my friend. I'll email a friend of mine in your area to give him a heads-up. Best of luck to you.
  15. Great shot wooly! You definitely an eye for it :- )
  16. It's only unethical if you're caught. ??? Ask Hillary about that. She'll school ya'. There is no "gray area' when it comes to ethics or morality, right vs wrong. I'm not a religious person, but I've always believed in, and followed, the Golden Rule. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Pretty simple.
  17. "His name is Pat Paulsen..." Yeah, I'm old enough. Good stuff.
  18. The US government is responsible, but will never be held accountable to any real extent. The only ones capable of pursuing prosecution against the federal government in a case such as this are employees of the federal government. They won't go there because it's not something they really care about, and it's not in their best interest. What we think is not an issue, it no longer matters to them. They'll throw some money at it, and consider it settled.
  19. You're arguing both sides of the same coin here. There are just as many Progressive/Socialist corporations who 'own the government' as there are others. Think Facebook, Google, Apple, Ebay and many other corporate entities that have learned how the system is played today. It's the system that's screwed up, not the ones who've learned how to make it work to their advantage. The system is Fascist at it's very roots: private ownership with government control. The government likes that and the business-people have learned how to deal with it by buying politicians and influencing the regulations the government constantly puts in place. Political alliance has nothing to with the realities of economics. People who own businesses know that. Put the grease where it's needed. Advancing the powers of the regulatory agencies in this country ( a progressive/socialist phenomenon for the most part) has all but cemented that system in place, except the government wants more and would like to have ownership as well as control. This would be Socialism. If you see a bright side to this concept, I'd sure like to hear it.
  20. Doesn't sound like a scope issue to me either, but it's the easiest thing to rule out first. Swap it with a scope that you know is top quality, or try the open sights like MrVJP suggested. Your description sounds more like a bedding or barrel inletting problem, or a combination of both. Vertical stringing in a downward direction is pretty unusual but certainly not impossible. A little bit of oil seeping into the stock and causing it to swell here and there can do a lot of strange things. Step one here would be to check your action hold-down screws. Loosen them up and then re-tighten them. They should be snug but definitely not 'farmer tight'. Like you would tighten a lightbulb is usually pretty close on most of my guns. Maybe a wee bit more. See if that helps. And make sure the nut behind the trigger is doing its job. (Sorry, old benchrest joke.) Keep us posted please.
  21. The Fascist economic system was put in place years before Eisenhower became president, and it's still in place today.
  22. What you're describing is Fascism, not Socialism. And you're right, it's been in place since the 1930's. Fascism involves private ownership of business, but with government control. The ever-increasing power of the regulatory agencies are shifting that concept of 'ownership' toward the government. Socialism involves government ownership of business with some semblance of private control (an absurd notion to anyone capable of thought),but basically, a business owner has the right to do what the government/owner tells them to do. The federal government today runs this country. That's not how it's supposed to work, and I'm not going to vote for anyone who thinks this is a good thing.
  23. Absolutely. A head to head showdown without party affiliation: Sanders vs Trump with both as independents? Let the citizens decide which extreme they'd prefer. But, the entire system has been set up to prevent anything like that. We'll end up with two choices in the end, and once elected they'll both act the same way.
