  1. I was just wondering if anyone is still using or owns a 3g cell cam? I’ve upgraded all of mine to 4g now and if AT&T doesn’t push their date back again, it looks like you won’t be able to use them for next season unless you keep the service going, then you’ll be able to use them for another 2 years.
  2. I spoke with an officer back in October. He told me that they have Covert cell cams at their disposal.
  3. I’ve been using regular Energizers in my Spartans. I usually get about 800-1000 pics with video out of a set. I tried a set of lithium’s and so far I’m up to 1200 pics with video and they are still showing a full charge. I think they’ve been in for about 3 months now.
  4. Good link. These maps are identical to the ones I purchased years ago.
  5. I bought some topo maps years ago for an area that I hunt in 7r. Much better detail than anything else that I’ve seen.
  6. I’ll be heading out this morning with the shotgun. Looking for does only today.
  7. Deleted. I tried to edit my original post and it created a double post.
  8. Double lung hit. She only went about 50 yards into the tall grass. Easy recovery. I stayed in until dark anyway. My friends son was close by and deer were in the field working towards us, with one of them being a buck. Unfortunately the buck chose to walk past my stand instead. So he got a pass. After walking off, he ended up crossing the path of the doe that I had shot earlier. He didn’t spook, but rather followed the blood trail into the tall grass. Seems like the bucks were on their feet tonight. I had another cam set up about 200 yards away and I caught this buck on his feet as well.
  9. Out with 2 friends today. I set them up in ground blinds with their kids. The oldest is in a tree about 100 yards from me in a bottle neck between 2 small ponds. We just had 3 does come by that might’ve got spooked by some small game hunters. 2 ran by him but he had no shot. I stopped the other one at 15 yards quartering away. Solid hut. She didn’t go far.
  10. I’ve been using my 1187 for 28 years now with a rifled barrel. It’s been flawless and deadly. I shoot Federal copper and I can’t say enough good things about them.
  11. Believe it or not, but there are grey fox on the Island. There are not many, but it has been documented that they are here.
  12. No plaque here either. Semi sneak is also my favorite.
  13. I had at one point several videos from that evening, including at least 3 different mature bucks chasing this one doe around for hours.
  14. The coat has only been rough like that for the last week or so. I believe it is getting its winter coat starting to come in. February breeding here is quite common, especially when doe to buck ratios often exceed 10:1. Here’s a pic of the fawn from 2 weeks ago. I have pics from 2 years ago of a hot doe with 3-4 bucks on 1/25.
  15. Just had a doe come through my backyard, but overall I haven’t seen too much movement in the morning the last few days. Once it warms up a little in the afternoon I’ve been seeing a ton of movement early. Good luck.
  16. It’ll really depend on the weather. If it stays cold, I doubt it.
  17. Still have plenty of work to do knocking down some does. Planning on getting to back to work at it shortly. We have almost 6 weeks left here. Probably mix in a few goose hunts as well.
  18. I’ve been seeing this fawn around all season. Since it still has it’s spots, I’m thinking conceived in February at the earliest. It just goes to show how important it is to manage your deer herd and keep the does in check. And for anyone that doubts that there might be a second or third rut, pics don’t lie. I’d say the poor thing must be a bit cold with the summer coat and 17* temps.
  19. I’ll be hanging some more fixed stands and getting a few more ground blinds. Not very many places to use my climber on the new property that I hunted this year.
  20. A fixed blade alone will help a lot with penetration. What’s your setup now?
  21. I plan on making a Xmas tree from the pile that I have one day.
