I just bought a new Carbon Icon yesterday. I'm shooting 29" CE Piledriver arrows @ 70lbs with 100g tips. With field tips, it shoots great. But so far I've shot Montecs and ThunderHeads and its shooting quite a bit to the left. I didn't shoot too much, and I understand that maybe I need to tune it a bit. I'm wondering who else is shooting this bow and what arrows and fixed blades are you shooting, before I start spending more money with different combinations. I've been reading up on the Carbon Express Maxima Reds. Supposedly they are a great arrow and really improve broad head flight. I've also been told to try the Slick Tricks and Muzzys, which I will do if I can. I've always believed in a heavy arrow for good kinetic energy, but with this bow the difference between a 500g and a 350g arrow is only about 2 ft/lbs @ 20 yards. So who else has an Icon and what's your combination?

I think the parking spot is in front of the field, but you must walk down the road to enter the woods. The field is privately owned and is off limits. You are not allowed to cross it to enter the woods.

I got pics last night of 2 different bucks that are out of velvet. It has begun.
-
Nice pic. Looks good to me. It appears to be a sunrise photo. As the sun is filtered through the clouds as it rises, it's not going to cast any shadows.

This buck was taken 150 yards off the road on state land. I had a view of the parking area below and it wasn't too far off of the main logging road that had no less than 12 guys walk in on. I shot him at 7am on opening day. Deer can pattern us much better than you'd expect. Every spot is different, and sometimes you just need to go where others are not willing to go. Whether it's right off the road, or hiking deep in.

Sunday evenings on Long Island and trash!

It sure looks like a Summit to me. Pure junk. I'll take it off your hands for you... j/k. Nice find. -
I have used the viper for years. No complaints at all. If you are bow hunting, I would be concerned about the bar that goes across the front of the seat though. It might get in the way of your bow on a downward shot.

Nice find Steve!

This is a photo taken last night by a local photographer as the storms moved thru. The lightening struck a crane owned by my father in law. I'm not sure if it sustained any damage. I just thought that I'd share a pretty cool photo.

how often is the buck you shoot one you have on trailcam?

I know for a fact that DEC has the ability to view real time satellite photos of coastal Long Island. I'm sure with that technology, they can view land all over NYS. -

Happy Birthday to both of you! Enjoy your day. -
If it was a doe, I would pass because I would enjoy seeing her in the woods more than once. I don't have a place to hang a hide on the wall nor the desire. Having a cell phone in the woods and getting a video of her walking by would be enough satisfaction for me. If it was a buck, he would get a pass as well unless he met my standards for any other buck that I'd shoot. I'd much rather shoot a mature piebald buck that would really be worthy of a mount rather than a young buck just because of his coat. I get a lot of enjoyment of letting deer walk and seeing them grow. And even more enjoyment of harvesting a mature buck that became mature because of decisions that I made on letting him walk.

Got a short video from this evening.

You know, the more that I think about, I suspect this might be a young buck. I couldn't really tell from either pic whether he had any nubs yet, so I just assumed a doe but I may be wrong. I've never seen this deer before in the past and knowing that does generally stay in the same area that they are born and how young bucks will move to a new home range as they get older would leave me to believe that it may very well be a buck. We'll see...

Thanks Steve.

Sorry, no video. Although maybe I will set it to video since you asked.
-
Nope. She'll be getting a pass from me. If it was a buck, then he'd have to be a mature buck that is as big as any other mature buck that I would harvest. I have no interest in harvesting a piebald. But I will enjoy seeing them when I'm in the woods.

I got this pic of a piebald doe earlier today. I've been hunting this area for years and this is the first time I've seen a piebald in the area.
