  1. I don’t think that when you make an app purchase it’s tied to the phone. Usually it’s linked to the email associated with your phone. So if you purchase a new phone, you set it up with your email and then all of your contacts and apps will automatically download and be on your new phone. At least that how it works with my iPhone. I would assume that other phones work in the same manner.
  2. Not true at all. There are more hunters than ever here on LI. The problem is that there are many areas that are off limits to hunters, like many state parks. Then when hunters do get access to a state park like Wildwood, it is only certain parts of the park and the deer learn very quickly the areas to avoid. In addition to a very restrictive gun season here, there are many areas that act as sanctuaries letting deer reach maturity. There is also the issue of no hunting in Nassau County where the population is steadily growing and contains some of the biggest deer on LI, with bucks in the age range of 6+. Yes there are some big deer here, but most are unhuntable, and unless you can secure permission on your very own little sanctuary you will be disappointed.
  3. Hey Swamp Bucks. Why don't you send your buddy a link to this thread. Maybe he has to here some unbiased opinions of what he's getting himself into.
  4. Just plan a pre bachelor party long before June 30. And do everything that she's says that you can't do on June 30.
  5. It doesn't sound like a bachelor party, but rather a going away party. If she's already setting an 8pm curfew and he's not even married yet, you're never going to see your buddy again once he says I do. Just sayin...
  6. I just got this pic earlier this morning.
  7. If you're looking for breakfast this morning, try the State street diner.
  8. I'm not a PA hunter, but I do transport my deer through PA. I hunt near Ithaca and travel 81, 380, to 80 and back to Long Island. As per the article, it sounds like just pertains to PA hunters. Does anyone know if that is the case? I really don't want to have to take 17 home if possible.
  9. I got this pic last night. With the long lanky legs and what appears to be a tiny head, I at first thought it was a fawn. But it does appear to be quite tall for a fawn this early. Hopefully I'll get some daytime pics soon. I figured another week or 2 before they start to drop.
  10. I've experimented with that. I've also tried something called tea staining which uses tea bags. IIRC, there was one or two other ways to age the wood but I can't recall at the moment. Your best bet is to do like you said and try out different concoctions of stain. Every type of wood will react differently. What type of wood are you planning on using?
  11. Happy Birthday!!! Hope it's a great one!

  13. Sorry I missed this. Happy Belated Birthday! Hope you had a great day!
  14. I'd like to thank everyone for the birthday wishes! It is very much appreciated! Thank you.
  15. I’ve never tried it but I bet that if you left a radio on a talk station all night, they’d probably stay away.
  16. And btw, I’d like to thank Phade for some great deals on these cell cams. There is nothing like getting pics right away rather than seeing pics of deer from weeks ago. These are without a doubt a game changer for deer cams.
  17. Just got this pic. It looks like he’s starting to grow some bumps on his head. It’s going to be exciting to see him grow. There are a few that are going to be some dandy’s in this spot next fall.
  18. Hunters Report More Deer in 2017 than 2016 Deer and Bear Hunting Opportunities Continue with Late Bow and Muzzleloader Seasons New York State hunters have been more successful in 2017 than last year through the first several weeks of big game seasons, Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Basil Seggos announced today. Early reports from New York hunters through Dec. 3, show that hunters reported taking approximately 18 percent more deer in the Northern Zone and 14 percent more deer in the Southern Zone compared to the same period in 2016. "While numbers and reports are still being calculated, early indications show the deer harvest in New York is up and hunters are having greater success than last year," Commissioner Seggos said. "Even though it is too early to say if this reflects an increase in hunter compliance with mandatory reporting rules, an increase in harvest, or both, it is clear that our efforts to foster harvest reporting through our Take It · Tag It · Report It campaign are working. I applaud all hunters for complying with our harvest reporting requirements, which provide invaluable data for DEC's conservation staff to improve wildlife management in the state." A final tally of the seasons' deer and bear harvests will be compiled and released early in 2018. Through the third weekend of the Southern Zone regular big game season, hunters reported 69,550 deer in 2017, compared to 61,184 through the same period in 2016. Similarly for the Northern Zone, hunters have reported11,349 deer in 2017, compared to 9,417 deer in 2016.
  19. And yet in this link, it states that thru the third week of the regular season deer numbers were up from 2016. https://www.dec.ny.gov/press/112111.html So what happened?
  20. Just some quick math and if the harvest reporting rate was reduced to 45%, that would put the harvest nearly identical to last year. So does anyone think that they can make the total take anything that they want by just changing some percentage points?
  21. So what they're saying is that out of 14,000 deer checked, only 7,000 were reported? Did they issue 7,000 tickets for not reporting a harvest? I wonder...
  22. How do they know what the harvest reporting rate is?
  23. From what I’ve read, I believe that testosterone levels are a huge factor when dropping their horns. I have pics of bucks chasing in January and also saw fresh rubs on January 31.
