  1. Maximum stealth right there! What's that ladder looking thing in last pic? Part of your stand?
  2. Snowbird or Florida hog? Lol
  3. Prolly caught em from the mail truck[emoji6] Imagine the critters hitching rides on some of those parcels!
  4. The harmonic balancer might be worn. I'd check to make sure all pulleys are rotating smoothly.Water pump, power steering pump, etc.
  5. Keep at it. That buck will soon forget all about last evening once the local does come into estrus. Good luck
  6. Good luck Pap. You should be breathing a sigh of relief soon!
  7. Well she can't handle a knife for shyt! Those straps look like crap.
  8. Yeah it didn't look very prime, but you're lucky to have found one this late in the season. They're usually done by mid Oct. Once you try a fresh one you'll change your mind
  9. I pass on 5-10 hens every fall. I just don't care for them. Wegmans sells them for like $13 per pound.
  10. Be on the lookout for hen-of-the-woods too at the base of big oaks. I found this one this morning
  11. Yup. Better get it soon, looks like it's getting ready to turn. They are delicious! Sometimes only the outer edges are tender.
  12. I had a mature buck grunting back at me last evening. He wasn't chasing the does but he did follow them. Rut is pretty much here! I only had a short window to draw and shoot and he busted me drawing. DAMN! Hunt the does folks, the bucks will soon be in tow.
  13. I just moved to a rifle zone last year so I've semi- retired the shotguns. When I hunted shotgun zones(past 18 years) I never had a problem using smoothbore because I seldom hunted in spots where shots over 70-100yds are even possible. Everyone is going to have their own preferences and to me this is hunting, not sniping. Gosh there are 6,7,8 year old kids down south picking off deer from box blinds now you tell me, is that truly hunting? The point I'm trying to make is that hunting is way more than just shooting. I'm not trying to backlash at your comment in any way, but I guess you could just call me old school in the sense that I personally am always trying to up my game. Sitting in a stand from sun up til sundown just doesn't feed my need to understand deer patterns & behaviors. Like I said, everyone will have their own preferences. Sure there are missed shot opportunities due to having limited range, but it makes you a better hunter all around because you have to understand your quarrys habits and have more stealth.
  14. Yes these have a great flavor. I highly recommend them. They are pretty foolproof once you ID the first batch. I just seen a cluster of probably 8-10 soccer ball sized puffballs yesterday on I90 near Montezuma. They were still bright white and right in the center median
  15. Still getting Shaggy Manes. They're loving this rain. These ones are huge.
  16. Centerfire has to be smaller than .22 such as .204 or .17
  17. Live from the car. Left Boston at 12:00 and still got an hour to go. Seen about 10 deer so far. Just passed a buck in corn stubble.
  18. Shotgun can be used during any deer season. If you are in a zone which allows rifle for deer then you can use any rifle. If you're in a shotgun only deer zone then you can only use either rimfire or centerfire calibers smaller than .22
