  1. The reason it isn't working is because 3 on a side is not a good yearling buck protector
  2. OMG.. You don't dare say you don't like something on this site... now you'll have all the compound hunters jumping down your throat.
  3. This BS has gone to 6 pages and personally , I don't give a Damn how you hunt ! And I could also care less as to how you think of my hunting . I enjoy the treestand hunting and do minimal stalking of deer except for gun season . Finally someone that gets it.. you shouldn't give a damn how I hunt or how I feel about your hunting... those are my choices... not sure why everyone else here cares so much about what I think... do what you enjoy.
  4. LOL. you can beat this to death all you want... I have already explained my position on the subject.. you don't have to like it... maybe it might make you feel better if I told you what you want to hear... then you can stop all this nonsense...
  5. This according to a recently completed survey of 2500 does conducted by a research team from Cornell University. 62% of the respondants claimed that age does matter. That's right it doesn't matter... and with the absence of older bucks the young bucks will "have" to be the ones breeding... when they should be spending those early years... building body size and strength... hence lessoning their potential to become bigger older bucks... which I guess really doesn't matter anyway seeing how most won't survive their first hunting season anyway.
  6. Camping, fishing, boating, staining the cabin, metal detecting, relaxing, smoking some good cigars, maybe enjoy a manhatten or two... phew! I'm pooped already!!
  7. Except for the fact that you have claimed in previous quotes that that sitting in treestands or waiting in ambush at food plots (or waiting in ambush anywhere) is not hunting. So I think what you have been saying is that if you don't hunt deer on foot, you are not a real hunter because you are not really hunting..... Have I got that right? Real hunter??... I don't even know what that is... all I'm saying is that I don't hunt from a treestand because I consider it waiting not hunting... thats my personal opinion. If you think it's hunting then its hunting... for some it is quite affective... and exciting... just not for me... and I don't see why I have to consider it hunting if I don't want to... just because everyone else here does? If you want me to tell you it's hunting.. okay it's hunting... does everyone feel better now? I'm learning it's much better to just agree with everyone here... it tends to keep the level of crying and whining to a minimum... :
  8. G-man.. you are right that big bucks are out there.. but not in the numbers that they should be... every other species of animal has a well balanced age representation amongst the males of the species... that is not true of the whitetail buck in NYS... I will agree that the motivation for most AR supporters is just to have larger bucks to hunt... the buck age structure aspect is really the more important reason for AR's... but not as highly promoted.. although it should be.
  9. You must do a heck of a lot of walking / stalking to get your deer ! That I do Eddie... I can do as much as 10 miles in a day sometimes if I'm looking hard for a buck... at the end of the day I am usually pretty whipped!! But I love it... Antler, lets be realistic how many hunters have access to that much land where we could walk 10 miles in a day. Many of us have small parcels of land probably 100 acres or less. Not conducive to that much stalking unless we want to chase the deer to someone else's property. That's why so many guys hunt from tree stands. Just my opinion.Dave Who said anything about anyone else walking 10 miles a day? I was responding to Eddie concerning what "I" do... Why is it that everytime I say something about the way I think of hunting and how I hunt.. you take it as I am saying that everyone has to be doing the same thing... I don't care how everyone else hunts... not even a little bit... if you love treestands.. God Bless ya.. I don't... that doesn't mean I am against guys hunting out of treestands... if what ever anyone does makes their hunting experience exciting for them... that is terrific.. I like to walk.. even on 100 acre parcels of land... I just walk a lot slower and put on less mileage.. I walk when I bow hunt, I walk when I gun hunt... thats just what I like to do... you can like whatever you want. But if you're interested... all hunters have the same access that I have to the Adirondacks if you'd like to try going for a walk sometime...
  10. It is very laughable to a person that understands nothing about it... yes... first, it is not a theory... a theory is a thought of what might happen or could happen, but has not yet been proven... AR's and herd health is not a theory, the concept of deer management has been proven time and time again in State after State... and it's benefit to herd health can be seen in any of the management studies that have taken place in NY over the last couple decades... the reason AR's is being rehashed is maybe because there are still those of you that don't get it... what needs to be admitted here is that you simply do not like AR's and refuse to learn anything about deer management that might make you understand better... having said that.. I don't think that herd health is the real concern in NY for AR's... but more for age structure in the buck population
  11. Not plausable... honest.
  12. Remember too that NY has one of the highest populations of deer hunters next to PA and MI... so more entries in P&Y might be a result of that also
  13. Amen to both those posts Geno
  14. Still following around and reading the posts of your crazy man huh? so who is the nutball here??
  15. Why yes that is me posing nicely in my buddies treestand as he takes a pic of me... it was a staged pic that I used for the header of my website... it was taken in January...after the season... I hunt from the ground with my recurve and have for the last 11 years... 11 years I might add that I have passed on at least 50 bucks within 20 yards...but haven't had one of my liking close enough to kill.. and have gone without a buck with my bow for all those exciting 11 years... looking forward to #12... does it really bother you all that much that I don't hunt over a food plot or sit in a treestand all day? I'm not sure why everyone cares so much... I just don't enjoy hunting like most guys do... I did years ago.. but I just don't get enjoyment anymore hunting the age old conventional way... sorry Oh.. as for the irish looking hat and outfit... that would be the first clue that I'm not hunting.. I where a leafy gilly type suit when I bow hunt... but thanks for noticing my snappy attire
  16. I'm not seeing what's nuts about posting that video... I guess it might seem a bit hard to take by an anti-gun or anti-hunting person... since when is a message from the NRA explaining some of the things they have been working on considered "Nuts"?
  17. Are you kidding? I have trouble keeping the grass in my yard alive .. let alone get a food plot to grow
  18. My post still stands... not sure why you'd follow a guy around if he bothers you that much... yet you seem to have something to say in all the threads he starts... and as for me agreeing with what he posts it's just because I agree not because it's him that posts it... obviously you do need someone to cut and paste for you otherwise you wouldn't feel the need to follow VJP around reading posts that you supposedly have no interest in.. that is kinda whacked.
  19. Except... I don't consider killing bear over bait "hunting" either... Maybe I'm the only one that thinks that way, but I'm okay with standing alone... and I would bet that Webster wasn't a hunter so why would I care what his definition of hunting is?... Okay.. I'll be honest... even if Webster was a hunter.. I still wouldn't care what his definition of a hunter is.. I have my own... just like you.

    New Guy

    Hey New Guy!! Welcome!!
  21. So now someone has a mental disorder for having an opinion on the 2nd Amendment that he is passionate about and wants to create threads to argue his position?... I think the mental disorder would be with the person who doesn't like the opinion or the posts yet continues to follow the poster around just to belittle the poster... If you don't like pro gun posts.. you can go to any liberal forum where there are plenty of "sane" anti-gun people for you to support... instead of torturing yourself by following around someone you think is mentally unstable because they have an opinion... maybe PETA has an anti gun forum you can follow.
