why isn't there a spring season? and should we start one?
nyantler replied to G-Man's topic in Bear Hunting
Funny.. but I have never had a bad piece of bear meat... but everybody doesn't have the same taste buds I guess. -
I noticed that right off too Steve... didn't surprise me though... I've been to some of those DEC forums and saw the education level of many of the hunters there... scared the hell out of me!

Stream trout here (partial to Brookies but I fish them all)... fly or spin rod... no live bait ever...catch and release always, but for one day a year when I bring my coleman stove and cook up some trout right there by the stream... my lure of choice is a Panther Martin, which I use exclusively.. with the fly rod I use whatever flies the trout will hit on, but I favor a Hendrickson or Blue Dunn

Can't be any worse than someone bringing a gun on campus illegally and shooting a bunch of people... Utah has a similar law already on the books and so far we haven't heard any horror stories from Utah

Pete was my guy too... easiest big ticket transaction I have ever made...

Common Sense Law or Zero Intelligence?
nyantler replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
as long as the topic of capital punishment has come up.. i'll put my 2 cents in... If in fact we are executing criminals as a means of vengence for what they have done then we become no better than the criminals themselves... capital punishment should only be administered for the sole purpose of eliminating any future harm to society by certain individuals that have already shown their intent to do such harm. -
Took the words right out of my mouth guys.... this is the part that guys like arrowflinger and virgil aren't understanding... the noise we have made over the years is the reason why these bills die early and don't make their way to become law... that may not be true if we were to discontinue the fight

Common Sense Law or Zero Intelligence?
nyantler replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
the gun problem is the same as it ever was... the same type of people are using them to murder people like they were 50 years ago.. since that time we have been bombarded by new gun laws in the hopes that somehow keeping the guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens has anything to do with criminals getting guns. Us that believe in the 2nd amendment have not refused to address anything... we have been adament in our fight for the enforcement of the laws that are already in place and stopping new gun laws that don't work to reduce crime. What you call fanatical and exteme.. I call vigilant and dedicated to making sure that our right to keep and bear arms is not infinged. -
1) Filming my oldest boy's first turkey kill Called the bird in from across a huge field to within 20 yards... the smile on my boys face was priceless when he went out to grab his bird. 2) Filming my friend Dave's first gobbler with a bow We spent three days hunting from natural ground blinds (mostly blowdowns) he missed 2 jakes the first 2 days before arrowing a huge Tom on the third day at 20 yards. I called in 6 jakes and 3 Toms all together. 3) My first big buck that my dad and I hunted for 3 days in 0-degree weather... I ended up killing the 9 -pointer in his bed at 10 yards

Common Sense Law or Zero Intelligence?
nyantler replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Ok "Mr Intelligent Debate".. Show me the ban on the manufacturing and sales of auto weapons in the world...they are still being manufactured and sold all over the world and here in the US... Even if you stopped manufacturing them there are enough already in circulation to arm all the criminals that want them ... my definition of a crackpot would someone that has to starts his post with an attack instead of a logical response. Then make a statement like "I don't have all the answers" and then put your trust in someone else to figure it out for you.. Let me help you here... the answer is to stop legislating more gun laws that don't work, just like the gun laws before them aren't working... if all these gun laws were doing what they intended, which is to stop gun crimes..you and I wouldn't be having this conversation How many times do you need to be hit in the head with facts before you start believing... maybe you can give one example where restricting or banning a gun has stopped crimes from being prevented. You can't.. But I can give you thousands of examples where private ownership a gun has stopped a crime from occuring -
Common Sense Law or Zero Intelligence?

Exactly.. we'd all have british accents and we wouldn't be needing to have this discussion right now.. well actually we would have been in a boat load of trouble just trying to defend this country over the last 200 years... Because of the freedom we gained and capitalism.. things like the industrial revolution, the automobile, electricity, the TV, the telephone, the home computer and many other inovations may never have come about.. or at least not as quickly as they did... the rest of the world has been riding on the back of America and its progress forward for many many years.. all starting with the second amendment and the ability to fight for our freedom that some now want to take away so we can slow back down to the speed of the rest of the world.. I don't get it -
yeah by the statement on their site.. this is a new model 1911 resently reintroduced... how about that all the dealings I have done with them in the past I never knew they made a pistiol... see you do learn something new everyday.

That would mean you're against owning weapons for self protection... and how is taking away any law abiding citizens right to own a particular firearm good for society in general?... we already know that laws don't keep those weapons out of the hands of criminals.. so now the criminals have the weapons and the law abiding citizen doesn't and is unable to protect himself from the criminal.. how is that for the better good of society?? I don't can't and don't own an uzi... yet I know that criminals such as gang members use them all the time... so where has the ban on an uzi protected society? I can assure you that if I owned an uzi nobody would have to feel threatened that I might kill them.. i'm pretty sure that isn't true of a the gang members that use auto weapons to kill people every day in america.. -
not that I know of... and I did business with them when they were in NY

great mulies.. wow

Maybe NY State should implement this type of program

I'm for cutting the city loose... maybe then some of the tax dollars I spend would find their way up here so we could improve our 3rd world status -
Is there something wrong with the site???
nyantler replied to Culvercreek hunt club's topic in General Chit Chat
no problems here... so far -
yeah I bought it for that too... powder has gone through the roof as far as price.. I shoot in a 12 week league this time of year too and it gets rather expensive to keep in supplies now compared to just 5 years ago... patch, powder, balls, and caps have all gone up quite a bit

The head alone is almost as big as one of the guys..lol

i don't really see an unusual back sway in this deer..most heavy back swaying doesn't start in a buck until he is much older 4.5 or better.. if you look at how the neck comes into the back area... you can see the actual shoulder hump which wouldn't be as evident in a 3.5 year old and where the neck hits chest there is a clear definition between where the neck stops and the chest begins, bigger bucks lose that definition at 3.5 and the neck and chest seem to be in one line where they meet... the real clincher for me is in the round head.. it is the most obvious tell-tale sign of a yearling.

Did you see the coyote run down and kill the fox? Or did you just find the fox dead?
