  1. Pulled pork, beef heart, tater tots, and steamed broccoli. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
  2. Still trying to find a way to take a 50" TV and DVD player with full surround sound in so I can watch movies.
  3. My wife took up hunting a few years ago ( she never got in the woods last season ). She wasn't my wife then, but......... Next Sunday she will be hunting with me again. Back to the NZ private land, and hoping to get her on deer! Trail cam pics from the area are mainly does, a spike, a couple fork horns, and one basket 6. Rule up there is nothing less then a 6 ( my rule ), and of course no does as no DMP's for the WMU. Sorry, I am more excited about this hunt then the opener of the bow season. I enjoy hunting with my wife.
  4. Jerky and ham and swiss sammies ( maybe roast beef ). My other is hot and spicy Planters Peanuts. Last season, I woke up a bit late, nothing for snacks and no time to make breakfast, so I put some leftover shepherds pie made with corn in a container, doused it with hot sauce thinking the heat from the sauce would help the cold food. It did. But 20 minutes later I was running to um, well you know. Just remember folks, if DEC wants to get testy corn in your poop is still baiting! LOL!
  5. Haven't been having much time in the evening to post, but I wanted to say congrats to all the hunters who have taken deer if I haven't already said it. I will post the likes in the harvest thread.
  6. Your funny, not really but....... I have far from the collection most on here have, and not the purdiest, but these are my firearms left to right: Tristar Raptor 12ga - Really like this shotgun. Wish I had known when I bought it I couldn't get more barrels. Choke system is same as Bennelli and Browning, and spensive Lucy. Smith And Wesson M&P 15 22 - NYS Compliant ( due to a high density polymer frame, and being a .22LR, I opted to stay with the spur grip and not pin the mag ) - I got used to using the spur, and ya know what, the tree rats don't know the difference. Savage Axis SS - 25-06 Howa Ranchland Compact ( Weatherby Vanguard ) - 7mm-08. My choice between the deer rifles to use in the true ADK's would be either. I would lean a little more towards the Axis though, because even though it's a tad longer then the Howa, it's a little over a pound lighter. But, they both handle and swing well.
  7. You'll get there eddie! Of all the folks on this site, you deserve to kill whatever deer you choose when you do get out! Hoping it's a huge 14 point for what you have been through!
  8. I would skirt the field edge and not walk through it. Jumping deer in the dark is a part of hunting, on the way in or on the way out.
  9. I love it when people have stories about public land and act all secretive about where it is. Not like you will get a flood of 10,000 new hunters after posting the location. Also not sure why it happened the "other day" and you just now feel the need to post about it, but it is what it is. With that said, I don't think the guys was a scumbag, not at all. He wasn't doing anything against the laws in your first post. He was hunting within the laws and regs, as far as I have ever read there's no laws to say you can't set ON a trail. As for the not wearing orange, most bow hunters don't wear orange. I don't get it? What's the big deal here? Not sure I will reply more to this, but this sure is one of those threads.
  10. This might be interesting. I want to add, let's see some pics!
  11. Here's to hoping you and Zack get some arrows bloody!
  12. Try drinking 6 Buds, a few shots of Tequila and JD, having chicken parm for dinner, then beers, Bloody Marys, more Tequila, more Bloody Marys, shots of wild Turkey...That's all I remember. I do know your pic looked like what came up in the middle of the night. Only difference was the red sauce and the V8.
  13. Ground blinds. Mainly brush blinds I made. I have a couple store bought hub blinds, easy to set up, a PITA to take down. I also have a few spots that provide natural cover over looking some good trails I have noticed get beaten up every year and have some good sign. If I feel I might be exposed on those, I will bring the camo burlap and tie it off in front of me.
  14. That kinda looks like vomit. Sorry, but it does.
  15. I have seen does with fawns in toe, button bucks, and even small lone does so far this season. All have gotten a pass, and will continue to get a pass if they are in range. Looking for meat, but not killing a deer that weighs out at 30-50 pounds. Anyways.............. This morning, nothing. Blue Jays were out of control, as usual chipmunks pissed me off, and a couple gray squirrels almost took an arrow.
  16. Picked this up on the home from hunting this morning. Not bad, tasted like a SNPA but fruiter. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
  17. Dinner was leftover beef roast with taters, carrots and onions I made yesterday in the Dutch Oven. But, the homemade apple pie the wife made was the best finale. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
  18. Smoke signals and tin cans with miles and miles of string. My phone rarely leaves my pocket anymore when I am hunting. I may check text messages if I have a cup of coffee, but even that's rare these days. It only takes looking up a few times and have deer in range while the bow is hanging or leaning with both hands on your phone when hunting from the ground, in a blind or not, before you realize I'm hunting not surfing the web.
  19. I posted this on 10/30 in another thread with the same question: . I'm not even sure I would shoot a bullet through those screens.
  20. My vote is fasteddie! That man went through hell, still went out for the bow opener with a camera! That takes more grit then most on here would do. He didn't hang out on the couch posting political trash, he got out in the woods! If thats not a feel good moment then what is?
  21. I have been around that area for decades. I have family out that way. I know that intersection well. If your coming down off the "hill" you better be riding your brakes! That curve and slope should make anyone use the break peddle! I knew it when the store was just a general store. No restaurant. That intersection isn't as bad as people are making it out to be. My condolence's to those who lost loved ones. I am still waiting to see what the cause of this tragedy is.
