How am I not making sense? We hunted for years without tech, now it's a big deal. Back in "the day", we just hunted. I have stated before, and I will state again, many of the areas I hunt don't have cell or wed service, it doesn't stop me from hunting every chance I get, and I have some major health issues. My wife makes me carry my phone and most of the time I have it on silent, this season, I am not even taking pics of me being in the woods. I will never stand for more cell towers! Anywhere! Whats so hard to understand about that? Like I said, you claim to be an old hunter, what did you do before technology?

-
It IS the point! If you are that scared of being alone in the woods, then don't hunt the Dacks! Stay down by the turd! Get a SAT phone.
-
Well, you claim to be an older hunter, so what did you do before cell phones?
-
You do realize, that if the pic was flipped, that cheek swell would still be in the same side. Righty.
-
If all you care about is cell reception in the ADK's, then you're not hunting the ADK's! Hunting up in that area isn't about this crap! It's about busting your ass, putting your time in, and pure hunting like was done years ago. I will go out of my my way to keep cell towers out of the Dacks!

We weren't hunting local. 1-1/2 hours away in the lower Dacks, northern part of Galway. Rain forecast for where we would be was 60% in the morning, and evening 70%. Also, the wife doesn't bow hunt. The Reg season is in full swing up North.

How much did you spend this year preparing for the season?
DirtTime replied to Core's topic in General Hunting
Tags, $47 ( not including Turkey tags, I buy them in early spring for the spring season as that's the only season I hunt turkeys anymore ), first trail cam $90 with shipping ( was supposed to be free ), batteries and cards for said trail cam, $100, gas, I can't even recall. Sawyers, about $100 to make sure I can keep the wifes and my clothes treated all season ( they run out of this stuff fast ). Sooooo........ Appx $337 not including gas. -
I would. Why not?
-
I don't remember. About once every half hour for tomorrow. Had the wifes first hunt in two years planned for tomorrow, so I was checking a lot. Made the call not to head up North about a half an hour ago. Felt like I got heart kicked my a mule.

Sorry about the arm bro! Now that sucks big time! Hope you get it ready to go again soon.
-
And..........Rain takes it all away! New mantra to go along with FUAC. FUMN! Still have time left. But, I was just super stoked for tomorrow.

With that stock/wood, that's looking like WB Mark V you mentioned in the PM.

You a lefty or are the pics flipped?

Had to look this up, never heard of it. We had tacos tonight, no pics, sorry, been a really long day. We did try the Old Elpaso Spicy Taco Shells, not bad.

Where would you look for deer on this map ?
DirtTime replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
Not sure I would hunt any of those areas, looks like a lot of open land. Big bucks in the Dacks tend to stay in the thick stuff, that's why they get old. That's just my opinion. You may be better off trying Mallet Pond or Burnt-Rossman Hills. Less of a drive, and if you get back-in off the trails they both have the 'feel' of the lower Dacks somewhat, fairly remote, but you will have a better chance at knocking down a decent buck. -

Did anyone watch the debate last night?
DirtTime replied to Buckmaster7600's topic in General Chit Chat
I didn't watch the debate, I rarely watch this stuff anymore. Nothing civil and nothing 'debated' more or less about the true/real issues. Just personal attacks and two people we are supposed to vote for acting like children. A third party vote won't cut it at this point in time. I'm not willing to risk it. I said a while back, I am not on board with some of the crap Molinaro has done, but sorry, the real "Don" Cuomo has done far worse. They say the "Mob"-"Mafia" doesn't exist anymore? LIES! Cuomo is 'strong-arming' and "threatening" a lot of companies, he's letting some nasty people out of prison, and we all know he's doing this with the clause they vote for him. Cuomos thoughts on the issues are f****-up! Tax reform, welfare, allowing gangs to come into this country unvetted, allowing terrorism, I could go on, but that should be enough. Oh, I will add, he WILL take our guns! It may be the "lesser of two evils", but not voting for Molinaro is a vote for Cuomo. -
Parking in the park on the side of the road in Adirondacks
DirtTime replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
May I ask the area you hunted up that way? Plenty of public land out that way. Hunted around Benson a few times. Couldn't tell you the name of the roads I was on, long time ago. I have hunted Peck Hill a few times as well. Favorite spot for Pecks was on 29 across from a restaurant. There's a couple trails from the pull off. Head left you get into some nasty blowdown, head right, and get off the trail you may end up at a small pond. I spent an hour watching a nice 8 find every tree or bush he could find to stop behind across that pond so I couldn't get a shot. Was a good day. -
We have a few tickets. The 1.6 Billion ( I think that's what it was we got the tickets ) taking the cash out after all the fees would be something like $512,000,000. Only reason for the cash out is less in taxes over all. MONEY TALKS! Lay $40,000 cash on the table for a $56,000 truck and I bet its goes for $46,000. If we win, new house in the Dack's with at least 150 acres of land! House warming will be a huge pig roast with many folks on here invited. Then, the wife and I will just live like we do now. Well, for the most part. With 150 or so acres of my own land, I don't see me leaving the woods much.

Still trying to find a way to take a 50" TV and DVD player with full surround sound in so I can watch movies.
