So the wife informs me while we're eating dinner, she will most likely only hunt 1 or 2 days. I think I may go low end, and see what happens.
-
If that happens you can all have a huge party, I will be dead and no longer post on this forum. LOL!
-
What pack is it? Is it MIL SPEC ( actually MIL SPEC, not fake ) ? Does it have a frame? Kidney pad? Size?
-
Nice truck, congrats. Now go get some dirt on it.

Fair food = sausage sandwiches and beer. Maybe a smoked turkey leg.

I told the wife she best get pics of this. I'm sure she will. He has chickens, peacocks, and the goats. It sure keeps him busy. There will be pics, video, probably not. Sorry.

Looking forward to seeing arrows in target pics.

It's not so much about the hunting or camping. That's a bonus for me. But, friends help each other, so even if I didn't hunt or camp up there, I would still go help out. I have no idea what I'm in for with a big buck male goat, and trying to clip it's nails, I'm sure it will be interesting.
-
So my buddy just calls and asks if we can come up and help with a goat problem this weekend. I say yes, then and ask what problem is. Trimming a big goats nails. Complete first for me, but when they ask me for something and I/We can do it, we are always going to help. I camp on their land, I hunt on their land, so if they need something I am always there.

Been shooting the bow here and there with the BH's on, one shot to see where it hits. Pretty happy with how I am shooting right now out to 25yds. Will shoot some FT's more regular soon to see how I am grouping. Only had three days out boots on the ground scouting, seen some does with and without fawns, a couple spikers, a fork horn, and a buck that looked like he was an 8, on the other side of a small clearing walking a small brush line. Starting to get a grasp on travel routs more on the public land I hunt. They are all pretty different from one another. Going to buy ( most likely order them tonight ) two trail cams for the private land we have up in the NZ and place them in a couple weeks. Was thinking of buying a new tent to get a bow hunting weekend or two camping up there, but decided to use the money on the cams. So I will just use the old tent if it all comes together. Which it never does. LOL! I will wash the hunting clothes next month and air dry. Treat with Sawyers a few days before the season starts. Put out the hub blinds to air dry and treat them and my chairs with Sawyers as well.

Just trying to get a grasp on this. Like I said in my PM, other factors involved here. But your help has made me look at things in a realistic way. It's much appreciated eddie, and I thank you.

If you are not camping in severe cold, a solid three season tent and a cot will keep you very comfortable. For a lot less money, and much easier to set up and take down. It could also be an issue if you only have one vehicle and need to run to the store for ice or go get a load of wood.

Guess I did the job right on the mold. So far no ill effects, and you can see the ribs in the "What's For Dinner Thread".

I re-direct the question back at you. -

I do not remember the exact temp, but it was close to -30 with the wind chill. That was around 2000 up near Benson with a buddy. I can't say I enjoyed that hunt much. -
